Yeah, but it was more than I got from our TV text, so I was kinda relieved that I don't need to go online and search for it. The TV text didn't offer Best Documentary and it didn't even mention Pan's Labyrinth. That sucked pretty much, but German TV text does always suck, so it wasn't a big surprise that they announced only half of it. Or maybe even less.

You know, I tried to stay awake to watch it live, but, as always, I just couldn't stay awake until 2am. LOL
Congratulations to all the winners. Somehow when I looked at the TV text this moring I could only find half of the winners. Thanks for posting all of them, Deb.

Might catch bits of it, dunno, I am quite tired.

I wanted Ryan Gosling to win Best Actor, Ryan's great. I knew Forest was the front runner though.

Pan's Labrynth cleaned up in the technical arts.

Germany won Best Foreign Language Film, for The Lives Of Others.

An Inconvenient Truth won Best Documentary. Yay! Very moving speech too.

Ennio Morricone got a Special Achievement Oscar for his magnificent film scores. I adore The Mission, one of my all time favorite scores. City Of Joy is another favorite. The guy's just brilliant and incredibly prolific. There's no genre he hasn't worked in. I just popped over to IMDb and checked, he has 506 credits in his 46 years as a composer. Can you believe that? Wow.

Michael Arndt won Best Original Screenplay after winning Best First Screenplay at the Spirits yesterday. He could barely talk as he accepted. Said he'd lost his voice. He partied too hard last night, I bet. LOL.

Martin Scorsese cried when Thema Schoonmaker won for Best Film Editing for The Departed.

As usual, Jodie Foster was stunning. But she turned emotional when she presented the Memorial reel, speaking of losing her best friend, Randy Stone. I didn't know he died. I'm crying now because I loved that guy. The highlight reel always does that to me. But wow, Randy. Man. He was an actor --- did a hilarious turn on Millennium. He was a casting director for film and for many of my favorite shows, including The X Files and Millennium. And he was Jodie's dear confidante. He often acted as her spokesman. He was probably Godfather to her sons, if she believes in that sort of thing. So damn sad.

Yes! The only dog I had in this fight was Helen Mirren for The Queen, which I LOVED. She won!

Forest Whitaker won for The Last King Of Scotland! Woohoo! He's so adorably flummoxed. But he acted out a very passionate speech. I'm so proud of him. He totally deserves it.

LOL, Lucas, Spielberg and Coppola presented Best Director together --- Martin Scorsese! Finally!!! To a standing ovation. It's Marty's first Oscar. And it's about figgin' time! People went nuts. They would not sit down. How appropriate that The Guru, The Godfather and The Whiz Kid of 70's Cinema got to be the ones to give it to The King of same. Jack Nicholson was in the wings and gave him a big bear hug after his speech. What a night for all of those guys.

And finally, The Departed won Best Picture. Man, I gotta see this thing. I'm so happy for Marty and the cast.

Deb
