I'm having lots of real conversations there all the time these days. You just have to be careful about who you engage with.

I second what Tina said. I hardly visit these boards now. It's a waste of time. You can't have a real conversation there. So I gave up. I rather come here.

Almoist everyone is soo rude on IMDB. The excuse they use for posting about celebs/movies/shows they hate is always the same. They always say its a discussion board and not a fan board. Its stupid because it only proves they have nothing better to do than talk bad about someone they're jealous of. They never admit it though. People usually curse when they say something rude to me and I report it and sometimes their post doesn't even get deleted.

After our troll problem on the AD board, everything else on IMDb seems sane. I've kind of learned to pick my battles there and stay out of the blatantly stupid threads. The thing that bothers me most about those boards is that no one ever reads the other posts before they repost the same ridiculous questions over and over. I get really tired of answering the same stuff constantly. But no one's twisting my arm. Nobody says I have to so I guess it must be my choice to keep doing it. I've met a lot of really nice people on IMDb. A lot of jerks too. I'm looking at you, Sid! But most of the boards I visit are relatively troll-free. As long as it's still somehow fun, I'll keep going there.

A-ha! I've come to that realization a while ago. And that's the reason why I stay off the IMDb boards for the most part. The only one I go to every now and then is Michael Welch's one because (so far) there's only decent people around there. And I sometimes check Sean Marquette's board, but it's quite dead. But I'd rather have a half dead board than one swamped with insults and stupidity.

And I'm totally with you, Illinois. I could rant along with you for pages. You find decent people on IMDb, of course, but often they're chased away by the not so decent people. Which is a shame...
