I can love a big stupid action movie, and often do. But there still needs to be interesting or fun characters. That is why Die Hard is good and Transformers wasn't. I honestly think Cameron hasn't made a good movie since Aliens.

That's exactly what I'm talking about, Shell. I ADORE Searching For Bobby Fischer. Really, it's one of my all time favorites. I even have that beautiful poster.

This is my kind of movie. And they can make 20 of them for the cost of one piece of shit about giant robots with balls who talk in ebonics.

I don't mind "special effects" movies at all, but I do prefer movies that are about something.

An example of a movie that I really enjoyed (but wasn't that successful) is the wonderful "Searching for Bobby Fisher," which affects me emotionally every single time that I see it.

I think it has something to do with the father/son dynamic. I would rather watch that movie over and over than watch, say, a "Transformers" movie.

I don't want a movie that comes completely out of a computer to "CHANGE MOVIES FOREVER". We already have enough damn cartoons and robots and CGI worlds. Call me crazy, but I like my movies to have HUMAN element in them. And the further we go in the direction of stuff like this, the fewer real emotions we're going to get from our cinema. At which point, I'm done with movies. I don't go to the theater to watch shit blow up, nor do I go to look at "eye-popping visuals". I go for stories about people. :fedup:
