Robin Johnson, literally pulled right of the street to be in the movie, was remarkable I thought. I have the script to the movie too. It's very different, but equally cool. The commentary with Allan & Robin on the now out of print special edition DVD is absolutely priceless. This new movie that's being made about The Runaways, I've read that script now too, and it reminds me a great deal of Times Square. And Robin Johnson always reminded me of Joan Jett anyway, so I'm having a lot of fun following the development of this new movie now, and turning people on to the ancient one.

I watched it a few years ago, and sorta enjoyed it. It has a lot of Canadians in it, and was also directed by Allan Moyle, a Canuck who also directed Empire Records & Times Square, a movie that I recall liking a lot when I saw it thirty ( ! ) years ago at the Varsity 1.

The thing that made me go "wait... what?" about the video of him on fire was that he didn't really seem to notice until everyone else did. I'm not saying that it didn't hurt like hell, but it just seemed off to me that he kept dancing instead of, you know, getting help. There is no possible way he wouldn't have known he was on fire. The pain is excruciating. There's a video on YouTube from the movie Man in the Mirror, he didn't catch on fire like he did really, but he immediately went into shock and fell down the stairs and he passed out at the bottom when his crew came to get him. Seems weird, but the fictional representation seemed more realistic than what really happened. And hair can't grow on scar tissue, so he either wore wigs or had hair fibers implanted.
