Christian Bale is great, but I loved Bana as Henry. I think I thought the adaptation was weird, or maybe the direction. And I did like it. But I'd expected to LOVE it!

Freddie and I saw The Time Traveler's Wife tonight, and we both really liked it. What I loved about it was that it felt very real for the fact that the time traveling thing is actually science fiction. And it wasn't as melodramatic as I thought it would be. Definitely well worth watching.

I like that he took advantage, just because someone has a special power/burden/quirk doesn't make them a saint, if it did the character would be much less likable because they'd be too unrealistic.

I haven't seen the movie yet, I will when it comes to cinemas here because I love that book, but I really wish that Christian Bale was Henry not Eric Bana, to me Christian Bale just had the perfect Henry look (and the guy can definitely act). Rachel McAdams is a great actress though.

They did cheat and give themselves stock tips and winning lottery numbers to, "fund our rock & roll lifestyle." Usually people with these kinds of talents or gifts never seem to take advantage of them, but Henry does. But he travels involuntarily, so he really can't keep a good job or anything. So I didn't blame him.

Or they could do a "Beauty and the Beast" thing (I haven't read it, and I do plan on seeing the movie but haven't). Where it is loosely the same idea, but becomes a long form love story/scifi thing

It really wasn't left open. They'd have to change the ending. Since Henry jumps around in time, it wouldn't necessarily go in chronicle order. Which would be odd, structurally, I would think. It'd be great if they did it well. And bloody awful if they didn't.

It doesn't seem like it would translate well to a TV series, but maybe they'll do something different. 10 Things I Hate About You was made into a half hour TV series, which I actually really like. The movie didn't really leave the characters with anywhere to go but apart from each other, so the series took the names and settings and scrapped everything else, which is the only way I could see Time Traveler's Wife making sense (having read the book, haven't watched the movie yet).

It'll probably turn into a SciFi about a guy who goes back in time and solves crimes or something.

The thing is though, does it really translate into a TV series? What would they do? Just retell the book very slowly? Or was it left open for new adventures at the end?

It just seems fast. The book came out in 2003. Course I'm sure ABC didn't get excited about it until after the movie was cast. With such beautiful people.

That scene in Sleepless is awesome! Love it. I cried like a baby last night at the end of True Blood. Heck, I cry over baseball games and Hallmark cards.
