I startet watching JoA just two weeks ago. the last episode I`ve seen was "Anonymous" and I LOVE IT! (I`ve got the whole season on dvd )
Unfortunately I know, that Adam cheats on Joan in the end of the second season (I read it in a recap...I`m so curious). That really makes me sad.
I always think, if there were a third season, they would fix their relationship. I`m really sure about that.
Nevertheless, I don`t think Adam is the kind of guy who would cheat on his girlfriend...I think a kiss between Adam and Bonnie should be enough to alarm Joan.
So I think I won`t watch the second season...it`s kind of depressing.
But last but not least: I really enjoy your fanfictions...especially these about joan and adam getting back together! what can I say - I LOVE happy ends

Oh, you have to watch Season Two! There are so many wonderful A/J moments in it! Seriously. The first 18 eps are wonderful. And once you get to that point, you'll wanna watch the bad stuff too.
What fics are you reading? And how can they mean very much without having seen the break-up?

Zwanchen, I knew you were German when I read the "new message board member" alert e-mail that just came in. "Willkommen" on our message board! Where in Germany do you live?
And Deb's right, it's definitely worth watching season two of JoA, there are some wonderful episodes and some even more wonderful moments. Let us know how you feel about Adam cheating. It's still a topic of great debate around here every now and then.

hey, you guys are pretty fast
first of all, I`m from the middle of germany - thüringen, to be exact - or to say it with my professors words "it`s the heart of germany"...which is quiet corny - so excuse my grammar mistakes :embarrassed:
two years ago, I watched some episodes of JoA in the german tv. just two or three...what can I say, I really enjoyed it. Then, a month ago, I read something about Amber and I had the feeling I should get the JoA season 1!
I watched many other series before, but I think JoA is really special (like maybe dawsons creek, which had kind of an impact of
my friends and me when we were younger).
I mean, I`m maybe a little bit of a dreamer but realisic enough to know it`s just a series and just entertainment. but sometimes, it`s nice to "dive" into another reality like arcadia. and I think it`s, in contrast to OC, written more intelligent and makes you think about religion and friendship and even love.
and yeah, I really like the relationship between adam and joan. I mean, I like the real chris, he seems sympathic. but if I were 16, I would fall for adam. Iwon`t give up hope that boy at this age can be trustful. I know/knew (not a lot) but some boys that if they are in love with a girl, won`t cheat on her.
I really dislike it when writers just try to create dramatic! it just don`t fit adam.
I`m really happy that I found a forum. You all seem really nice and understanding and it`s nice to see, there are other people that share their thoughts about JoA
to the fanfics: I read "butterflies" (it`s really cool!) and many others. And yeah, I could understand them, not all because I haven`t seen the second season. and it helped a little bit. it`s just sad you don`t know, what a third season would be about
I red that barbara hall will maybe write a book about it or some kind of a tv movie. she wrote that in her blog last march. unfortunately, there isn`t a blog anymore. I read it in another forum. it seems really far away, but you never give up hope.
I will watch the last three episodes of season 1 on the weekend. And then, I think I need some time doing/ watching other things...I watch almost the whole first season in two weeks and I feel very involved. I guess, a need a break before I begin with season 2. yeah, you convinced me to loo the next and final season. thanks
and I will let you know what I think about the last three episodes

Yeah, we're a sad bunch, we hang out here on the board pretty much every day.
Thüringen, huh? I have not been there yet, at least I haven't stayed there. I'm sure I've driven through it a few times when I was still working as a CRA. And don't worry about your English, it sounds just fine.
You seriously watched JoA on German TV? Wow. Did you like the German voices? But then, not everyone is like me and hates the dubbing.
We all know what you mean when you say JoA is special and has an impact on you. I love the show. Still do, even after these almost three years that it has been cancelled. I can't believe it's that long already. I don't think we can expect anything from Barbara Hall where JoA is concerned. A book would be great, but if it was really happening, we would have heard something by now. I'm sure she's moved on, just like all the actors. I also can't see a JoA movie happening. Like I said, all the actors have moved on to other things. They'd have to leap forward a few years in time too, most of the "teens" look way older now, including our good Chris here (and that's NOT a bad thing!).
Awesome that you've read Butterflies. We gotta ask: Which version?
What else have you seen that Chris is in? Go on to the Introduction section and fill out our questionnaire if you like.

Zwanchen, I know what you mean about not really wanting to watch season 2. I just finished season 1 myself the other day. I think I took three weeks, so you got me beat there! LOL But we gotta press on even though we know they destroy Adam. Like Deb says, there are 18 other episode we can  over. I have started reading Butterflies too (the R-rated version of course!!! WOW!!) Tee-jay & Deb, You ladies are amazing. Thank you for continuing the awesomeness that is JOA! I think that your fan-fic has helped a lot of us deal with the character assassination of Adam, and sudden cancellation of JOA. I know it's just a T.V. show but we all have obviously let ourselves be drawn in and I don't know how to word this, but "affected" by this show. It can be difficult when something you love and enjoy is taken away from you so abruptly without any resolution, (I know, I know, it's just a t.v. show, but ya know what I mean). All I mean is it is great that we have you two here to keep the love of JOA alive. I thank you. (P.S. I swear I am not crazy, I am just a psych major).

Donna, you don't have to give a disclaimer about JoA being just a TV show around here. Trust me, we all feel very attached to it still. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I've never been so stuck on a show that I couldn't let go years after it was canceled. It still consumes me daily because we're still writing Butterflies. And I refuse to apologize for that. I say whatever bit of joy you can grab in this mixed-up world, go for it.
I'm glad you're enjoying the fic. It all started with TeeJay, of course. She's written a good bit of fic, trying to deal with what they did to Adam. All I could ever think about was how to get beyond it and get back to A/J goodness. So when she opened a door with what became the first chapter of Butterflies, I could help but barge in and make myself at home. I can't begin to tell you how much fun writing that story has been, or how much it has changed me. I hope it continues for a very long time. I still have a ton of stories I want to tell in that Joaniverse.
How far along are you?

I really enjoy "butterflies" and all the other fanfictions. I read the "butterflies" - ratet T. It`s really good, but I just read it up to chapter 5 or 6. So there is a lot left for me to read
Oh, and I read a nice fancic on fanfiction.net about about adam and joan. it takes place after "common thread". it``s a story about adam losing his memory. he must stay a while in the hospital and joan often visits him. and finally, he gets a second chance like he should in the final episode of the season. it was really nice but I forgot the title of the story and can`t find it
maybe someone can help me here?
and I got the idea that maybe I will write a fanfic myself...of course something about joan and adam we`ll see. by then, I read more of your beautiful fanfics:D

I guess the german voices are quiet good...apart from Iris voice. that is really ordinary in the german episodes.
but nevertheless, I really prefer the original voices. they seem more familiar.

I really like how you don't make him too perfect. Joan had way more patience than I would have. I wanted to shake the crap out of him too.
Offline
We all have our moments where we want to shake Adam. And hit him in the head with a board with a nail sticking out of it. And do some slight, temporary damage to Mr. Lovejoy. But then, we all just wanna hug him.
Offline
Hang in there! It's not the happiest of chapters, but the rewards are great. TeeJay and Deb did a fantastic job with this one. You've got a great payoff coming. And it's never easy getting closer.

Butterflies is like the best fanfic. Don't you think? I love the deleted scenes in the unrated version the best.

Welcome, zwanchen! This is a great board, isn't it? I love it.
I thought you finished "Butterflies"! I was about to say that you read fast! I'm still on the chapter where Joan finally tells Adam..... you know, her not-so-secret. "Confessions," I think it was called? Dang school!
Joan: "Wow. I always thought you'd hate me if I was a cheerleader."
Adam: "No way. Why?
Joan: "Because we're subdefectives and it'd be like deserting the army or something."
Adam: "Oh, no. I don't care if you're a cheerleader, subdefective, or whatever. I just like hanging out with you because.. you're Jane."
