Re: Misc. Stuff

I always wanted to see "Driving Lessons". I once found it on amazon for sale, but at that time it was too expensive for me. I guess I'll wait for another chance.

In other news, I just came across this via one of my LJ friends. It's a series of photographs of cryin hollywood actors (male ones!) from three years ago, but I thought it's still interesting, since we know the (new) King of Man-Crying! wink
But of course, he's not there (yet!). I think my favorite shot is the one of Paul Newman.

Re: Misc. Stuff

That's the strangest site I've seen in a while.  But kinda beautiful.  I love that shot of Robert Downey Jr.  And um, Sean Penn's got a nice pocket anomaly going there.

Re: Misc. Stuff

That is beautiful, Anne.  Thanks for sharing.  And thanks for the head's up, Deb (so to speak ).  I'd totally neglected to check out Sean Penn's crotch!  (Really, I swear wink:o:) )  The RD, J one is really gorgeous.  Boy, Kris Kristofferson, huh?  There is a lot of living in that face.  Sam Shepard's, too.  Amazing pictures!

Re: Misc. Stuff

It's weird, but I think the Ryan Gosling one looks a lot more like Ryan Phillipe!  I wonder if it's possible that they got the name wrong?  Anybody ever seen RG wear that ring?  We know RP was married until very recently.  The photos could be older.  Sean Penn is still wearing his wedding ring.  Things that make me go hmmm...

It's Gosling.  Looks like it's from a scene in Half Nelson.

Re: Misc. Stuff

Glad you like it.
And here is the next thing. I know we talked about that before, but I just found that list online: 30 under 30 and what I hate about it is: I don't even know half of the guys listed there and WHY in God's name do they always list almost every single on of Chris' co-stars but NEVER him??? Arrrrgh! He definitely DESERVES to be on that list!!! Get that in your heads people! And stop putting people on that list noone has ever heard of! Who is Chris Pine? Never heard of that guy.

Re: Misc. Stuff

All it boils down to, Anne, is that our guy wasn't in anything that was successful last year, and he doesn't have something huge lined up for this year or next year.  This Chris Pine guy, I'd never heard of him either, but he's gonna play Kirk in JJ Abrams's new Star Trek movie.

He was the lead guy in Just My Luck.  Standard crappy Lindsay Lohan movie, but it got him recognized.

Re: Misc. Stuff

It was one of Lindsay's many Razzie nominations.  On a list of the worst movies of 2006.

Re: Misc. Stuff

Well, then I doubt that that was what got Pine on the list.  I think it's a safer bet that being the star of a JJ Abrams movie did it.

But it made him popular with the 12-17 crowd.  And those are the only people that matter roll

Re: Misc. Stuff

Yeah, but they didn't compile this list.  Your standing in the business is always about your next thing, not your last thing.  For so long, Chris didn't even have a next thing.  And we still can't talk about the one he has.

I don't know who Michael Pitt (one of the criers) is, either.  Clearly I'm hopelessly behind the times.

You mean you didn't know he's Brad's little brother? yikes    He was in Dawson's Creek, might have been in Pinkville with Chris.

Wow, that's awesome, Carol.  I really love that movie.  And the soundtrack.  And the documentary about it on the DVD.  I wanna see that doc about the movie's impact on transgender youth, Follow My Voice.

I guess I need to pick up the DVD.  I saw it at least 5 times back when HBO was running it a lot.  And they ran it almost as much as they did "Shallow Hal".

Re: Misc. Stuff

If we wanted to buy something that'll make high-quality audio recordings, apparently this is the thing to go for (but also kinda expensive):
http://www.amazon.com/Zoom-Portable-Ste … 448&sr=8-2

Ralf just told me about it and it sounded great. He might buy one. If so, I'm gonna beg him that I can borrow it for Toronto (if that works out like we plan to). big_smile

Re: Misc. Stuff

That would certainly be cool if you could borrow it!

BTW, you've been nominated to take lots of pics.  I mean you're such an excellent photographer.  Can you imagine some of the shots you could get if we can get Chris to pose for us?

Re: Misc. Stuff

I've never really done portraits. I'd just do what all of you would be doing, point the camera and hit the button. smile But, yeah, I can try to do my best. But if we really do get some time to talk to him, I'd rather not spend all of that snapping away with my camera. I wanna savor looking at the guy in real life too, maybe ask him something myself. tongue

Re: Misc. Stuff

I knew you were gonna say that.  From what I've seen you're the best photographer in the bunch of us.  We'll all take pictures, of course.  But just imagining what you could do, considering that you know how to actually use your camera, got me daydreaming about the gorgeous pictures you could take.

What I'd like to see happen --- and we can try to set this up ahead of time with Rankin ---- is that we get to talk to all of them together, like a panel, which we could video record somehow.  And they later, maybe we could get half an hour with Chris.  You and I could interview him, with the other Dorquettes acting as an audience.  But they would also each get to ask a question.  It would be cute if we could do it on video.
