My dad did that to me on my 16th birthday.  I turned around and got back in the car.

Re: Randomness

I always liked looking younger.  I still get carded on occasion.  Back in '93 or whenever it was, when I was pushing 30, they wouldn't let me in to see Poetic Justice until I went back to my car and got my DL to prove that I was old enough for an R-rated movie.

Re: Randomness

It's always been kind of a sore spot for me.  My mom's side of the family are all really tall, me and my brother got my dad's height genes, but J.T.'s just below average height...I'm really small.  And I do keep hearing that I'll enjoy it eventually, but when you're 18 and you can't get into an R-rated movie with your 17-year-old boyfriend, who had no probably getting in, it kind of sucks.  I know when me and my friends go bar hopping on my birthday it's gonna be hell getting served.

Re: Randomness

Hahahaha i actually very rarely get picked for my age, but strangely i got older AND younger. My actual age is 23 but ive gotten anywhere from 16 to 36. But the thing thats weird is i rarely get anywhere between 20-25, which considering my age you would assume. Meh, it doesnt really bother me all that much. The only time its bothered me is back when i was working at the supermarket and was working behind the express isle which was also the ciggarette kiosk, i had the store manager pull me aside and tell me that i had to be 18 to be serving ciggarettes. My response...ummm exactly how old do you think i am? I was 16 apparently. This was a new store manager and i had been there for quite some time, I was 21 at the time and rather embarrassed to be pulled off register for that. But like i said it usually doesnt bother me all that much.

Also Laura, congrats. I loved being 21 - Its time to do all the naughty adult things legally smile

Deb - You make me feel so little, i wasnt even born in '83. Not even a twinkle in the eye at that stage.

I am the youngest here at my work now. Well we have one casual worker that is 19 and he comes in to help with IT a couple of days a month every now and then, but other than that i am the office baby. So i get teased a little about being naive and stuff

Re: Randomness

Laura - One of my closest mates is a guy named Andre. Poor boy barely reaches my shoulder and im not tall. And with the asian genes too he has the fine features that will make him look 12 when he is 50. Just rememeber to have your ID on you at all times, and it helps to actually look like your ID. I had to go and get my photo redone cos i was having too many hassles after i cut my hair

Today I was working a cash register at work and a little girl told her grandma that I was a kid working at Kohl's.  I told her I wasn't a kid but she didn't believe me so when I asked her how old she thought I was she said 11.  And the grandma said I look about 14.  They were surprised when I said I was turning 21 next month.

I can't stand it when people say what they think your age is and that you look younger than you really are. People do that to me a lot. When I moved to Georgia my junior year and started school quite a few people said they thought I was a ninth grader and that I looked like I was 14 when I was 17.

Re: Randomness

Kate, I typed that date wrong.  I meant '93.  I was only 19 in '83, not 30!!!  I know I'm old, but let's not make me even older.  LOL!

Re: Randomness

People get my age wrong all the time. On Tuesday in Mannheim we met this other girl my friend knew from school and she said she thought I was only 18! LOL The strange thing is, people always guess I am younger when they see me on street and when they see me on pictures, they always think I am way older than I actually am. One guy once told me to upload real pictures of me, not of my grandma. That was MEAN!!!!

Re: Randomness

Apparently my face is 19. My guess is the rest of me looks like I'm 33 or something. Having kids ages certain parts... I'm really 27. I don't know if I've shared this before, but when I was 19 and expecting my first born at 7th month, a busdriver thought I was 12 and offered me a kids' ticket. lol

Sarah Palin's resignation is really weird and I have a feeling we're going to have to actually see a lot more of her now.  hmm

Re: Randomness

...and your turkeys and your bears.  She's such a "rock star" on the lecture circuit, the GOP is going to use her now as their mouthpiece against everything the President dares to attempt.  So what we're going to see is her traveling the country with her crazy speeches about how only neocons are real Americans and Obama's going to ruin the country with unchecked spending and socialist medicine.  More right wing nutbaggery to be grist for the mill for the pundits.  And more jokes for late night talk show hosts.

Re: Randomness

I'm not trying to get into a fight over politics here, I'm just stating an opinion. This might have to do with growing up in western Pennsylvania, having a father who hunts for a living and having partially "redneck" upbringing, but I don't hate her.  I'm not her biggest fan, mostly because she seems like a bit of a ditz, but I don't hate her.  In fact, if it came down to her and Obama in 2012, I'd vote for her.  I never trusted Obama.

Re: Randomness

Prepare to duck!!!

No, I don't hate her either. But I do dislike her.

Like you said, she is a ditz and in many of her interviews she came across like an airhead.

Plus, I just can't stand her voice at all. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me.

I don't really trust any politician and that includes Obama, but I would rather have someone I can't trust as President than a complete ditz like her. Just my opinion.

Re: Randomness

I have relatives who hunt too.  I have guns.  That's beside the point.  But let's face it, her hunting wolves from helicopters and standing in front of turkey slaughtering is ripe for the pickin's.   And yes, she's an airhead.  There's no there there.  Something really insanely terrible would have to happen in this country for her --- or any republican at this point --- to become president next go 'round.  I just hope if she starts giving speeches we don't have nutballs out there screaming for people to kill Obama again.  Her followers can be awfully scary.

I post on another board where some of my fellow boarders (I can't think of the right word) are rabidly conservative, and regularly post really stupid jokes, and occasionally nasty stuff about President Obama. My psychiatrist was telling me about a good friend of his who wants to see Obama dead (he said that other than wishing death on the President, his good friend, a Mormon, is basically sane). I can't fathom why certain types dislike Obama, who strikes me as a decent guy who genuinely is doing his best for the country.

Oh yeah, while volunteering at the local food bank yesterday, I spoke with a customer who was/is convinced that Obama is the Anti-Christ, and that we will all be goners in the year 2012.

Nutty is not the word.

At a certain part in your life. Probably when too much of it has gone by. You will open your eyes and see yourself for who you are. Especially for everything that made you so different from all the awful normals.

Re: Randomness

Yeah, that anti-christ stuff is pretty hilarious because he does not fit prophecy.  He fits for the precursor, if you believe in that sort of thing.  The "birthers" are a wacky bunch too.  I saw some article where they're saying his "real" Kenyan birth certificate was on eBay, but the government forced them to take it down.  There's a lot of cuckoo stuff on the interwebs, that's for sure.
