Correction: It doesn't suck THAT much Of course I'm still sad about the latest RingCon cancellation (see Twilight thread) but I have some (semi-)great news to share. I got a call yesterday from that firm I applied to, like, two months ago. They had a job offer. Woohoo. They basically wanted me to start, like, today, but I had to tell them that's not possible because I've got a doctor's appointment and I'm off to London on vacation on Thursday. So I offered them to work probationary from Monday to Wednesday, so they (and I) can see how the job is like and if I fit there.
Oh. My. God. I am so excited, I just hope it'll work out. I may have a new job by October then and I wouldn't even have to move out of my apartment. (Although it's a little far away, but there is still public transportation of course.) The one thing I worry about is RingCon, since I still want to go, but that's only two days in October and if they're nice I'm sure it won't be a problem if I tell them soon.
So, yeah. I'm off to work again on Monday! Please cross your fingers!

That's great Anne! I'm sure they'll let you off for RingCon you explain that you already bought tickets and everything. I mean, you didn't know they were going to call you. Fair is fair.

I don't know yet what kind of job it is exactly. They call it "production assistant" or something like that, which can be pretty much everything. For now I am hoping that it's something in prepress, which I have done before. Still excited, though. It means "work"!

So I went to the company to my last day of "work" and as soon as I get there they tell me "We don't need you today, you can go home."
Oh, great. Why didn't they tell me that yesterday already? Well, the good thing is, I got more time to get ready for England.

Sorry to hear about that Samsy! Like you said, at least you got an extra day! I love England, spent a semester in Lancaster, where are you going?
First year teaching is like walking through a dark tunnell. I love what I do every day but besides that I feel like a fish out of water even though I took 23 hours of teaching classes, a semester of student teaching, and over six years tutoring/teaching experience. The end of the quarter is comming up I have no clue how to record my grades! Its kind of funny when you think about it!

Nothing good has happened this week for me except one of my classes being cancelled today.
Monday I get a low mark on my first journalism paper, Tuesday a guy that was interested in me decided to hookup with some random girl he hasn't even known long, and today he deletes me off facebook. He said he wasn't interested in girls as friends yet he has over 30 girls added to his friends. Hes so fake. I've known him 6 months on and off and for nothing because he didn't want to get to spend some time with me in person like he had claimed to want to. He lost out on one of the best girls he could have had. His loss.

My 3 year old is getting pretty fluent with the mouse-using. I've been playing some memory games etc with the boys on the computer past few days. next generation of gamers in training! As if it isn't enough that hubby plays his Xbox360 every time his playmates are online. I know... I just love calling them his playmates! Especially with their clan name being Pure Nudity. And they do live up to the name. All being rased in this naturalistic sauna-culture, its perfectly common for men to sit around their homes half naked in the evening. One of them even likes to dress up in women's clothing at times but I wasn't the one telling you, ok? Lets just hope my boys aren't turning out quite so... wait a minute... my 5 year old already does that! I'm not judging. but its still a bit funny. No?

Why I don't watch Reality TV, especially the Finnish kind. Its a mix of embarrasment and laughter. People can be so stupid when they get their *wannabe* on.

Okay, so I still need a few good quiz questions for our FANTASYDAYS convention that's gonna start tomorrow. It can be anything from the genres science fiction, fantasy, anime or manga, such as Twilight, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc. Any help would be appreciated.
The target audience will be fans from all these genres. The questions shouldn't be too geeky but also not too easy. Here are some examples of questions we already have:
Star Trek: The Next Generation - What is the birth place of Jean-Luc Picard?
Name at least six of the 13 dwarves from The Hobbit.
What is the difference between an avatar from James Cameron's AVATAR and a Na'vi?
Any ideas?

Well, they're kinda hard to guess if you've never seen Kyle XY or Stargate.
