The snow over here is kinda stalling things. I wanted to watch the new Narnia movie today, but I've cancelled those plans now. Let's see how things look tomorrow. I kinda hate it that I'm gonna have to watch it in 3D. There's only one theater here that shows it in English, and it's 3D. Gee, they didn't even have 3D technology at that dinky little theater in Cologne until a few weeks ago. Why does it now have to be a movie that I'd much rather watch in 2D??

I'm going to see the movie on Tuesday. Since my theatre does only show it in 3D, too I chose Tuesday since the prizes are cheaper then and why should I pay more for something I'm not even able to see properly? roll
Recently I remembered the first Narnia movie was the first movie I saw in English in the theatre, back when I was visiting you in 2005, Tina (And look how far I've come since then! Never sat any foot in a German theatre again, except for Alpha Dog in 2006 I guess. LOL). And I've never seen the second one until now. Maybe I should do that some time soon.

The other movie I'd like to see it Nowhere Boy, but there's no sign they'll have it in my theatre yet, so I'll probbly wait for the DVD. And I hope I'm gonna be able to rent Scott Pilgrim on DVD soon(ish). I need to see this movie.

Re: Randomness

Hey Simon! Glad to see you back!

Well everyone should know Bree had a stalker contacting her by cellphone. She supposedly had a recycled number from someone else and this person texted her asking for some guy. She gave him a made-up name instead of her real name and told him to stop talking to her. He kept texting and calling and harassing her. I dont know why she hasnt been online lately but she had to change her number.

Re: Randomness

I hope you enjoy the movies Simon. I just saw "The Kings Speech" and loved it! What an amazing accomplishment for both the actors and characters in real life. I was touched by the friendship that was portrayed in the movie.  It would make a great Christmas movie to go see guys because it will make you happy!  There are a lot of great movies out right now, Black Swan, and The Fighter,  but none will make you feel as good as this one does.

That's concerning about Bree.  What a troubling situation to be in! I hope she's okay.

Anyways, I found an apartment I loved but hated the location. so I withdrew my application on that apartment.  I found another one I love that is in the PERFECT location between work and in walking distance between all the stores and everything I like. and amenities included in the price which I couldn't find ANYWHERE and I've been looking around for a year.  But the one bedroom I can afford is not available.  So i'm waitlisted for one.:(  I'm ready to move so  please pray or send good vibes out to give me the chance of getting an apartment soon. I'm waitlisted until the 15th of March. I told my landlord by Jan. 15th. I'm sure he'll let me stay a few months longer cause I've been a good resident.  i'm just anxious and ready to go!

Same here!

In other news, I finally have my christmas presents together (at least the ones I need on christmas day) and managed to see the new Narnia movie today. It was really good! Might go back another time between christmas and New Year's Eve for another movie, just have to decide which one. And I forgot to ask them about Nowhere Boy.
And I got another rejection letter the other day. I even went there for a job interview, but that didn't help either. Oh well. They were weird anyway. They ask the people to send in their papers by post, clearly saying "Not via email!" and then they reject you by email. What a joke. roll Oh well, new year new chances, I guess. Hopefully. hmm

I haven't seen the second one either. A staff member asked me if I had read the books before, but sadly I haven't! They are waiting on my shelf, though, and I'll start reading next year. smile
I would have preferred to watch it in 2D too, but since my theatre only has it in 3D I went there on a Tuesday because the showing are cheaper on Tuesday and, as you may know, I can't see 3D. The good thing was I still did get my voucher signed. They only sign it if you have to spend more than 5 Euro on a movie and normal 2D movies are 5 Euro on Tuesday, so I made a rule of that. If I have to watch a movie in 3D, which is 2D for me too, I'll see it only on Tuesdays. I can see normal movies on any other day of the week because I still get a bit of reduction since I have an ID for people with special needs (or however you call that in English).
I might go back next week to see another movie. I even thought about going on New Years Eve, but now I'm going to spend that at some of my parents's friends' house, so I can't. Maybe next year then.

Re: Randomness

I have read the books but it was so long ago I will have to read them again.... I didnt even realise there was another Narnia movie out... Hahaha I guess you dont get to see ads while traveling. Anyway I just wanted to let everyone know that I have now made it to Berlin. YAY train was only half an hour delayed. Thats practically on time! And I had a seat for most of the journey too. I dont know what everyone is worried about. Anyway I hope you all get to where you need to be this Christmas safely. I could wish everyone a Merry Christmas now, but I would even be a day early in Australia, so gonna wait for the real thing smile Love you guys! xoxox

Glad to hear you arrived safely in Berlin, Kate. How do you like it so far? I've been to our capital city two times now, but the last time was in 2007 and it's sooo far away from where I live ... *sigh*

I am really enjoying it so far. Although sadly due to Christmas alot of places have so far been closed. But that is ok. I am here for a few more days anyway smile The tour today was pretty cool though. Went on a walking tour all about the third reich. I am glad I didnt go on that tour over Christmas though!

This is a post titled "Was 2010 the Worst Year for Movies Ever?" I found this really interesting....it does seem to be VERY vague and dismissive, but I do agree with his general point of Hollywood has given up actually THINKING about the movies they are making and just doing the "safe" thing.

I know I want a dog by summer time.  I am debating between a Pekignese and a King Charles Spaniel.

Pekignese

Tri colored King Cavelier Charles Spaniel:

If anyone has any recommendations please let me know! I've narrowed it down to these two dogs.  I just need to get a sense of their personalities.  Any adivise would be helfpul.

Re: Randomness

I'd go with the Spaniel.  Peke's often have breathing issues.  Spaniels also generally have a more friendly disposition.  Personally, I would recommend a mutt.  I've always had the best luck with pound puppies.  They're not over-bred, so they don't have the genetic predisposition to certain diseases inherent in their specific breed.  You might even find something similar to what you're looking for at your local shelter.  Or maybe even try Petfinder.com.  The animals on there have generally been fostered by whomever is adopting them out, so they will have insight into their personalities and their health, stuff like that.

In other words, I'm suggesting that you adopt a little dog who needs you, rather than buy a pure breed dog.  Of course, that's just my opinion.  If you do decide on a specific breed and choose to buy, please research the breeder carefully, visit them.  Make sure they're on the up & up.   Whatever you do, do not buy from a pet store.  These little dogs are the ones most often abused and neglected in puppy mills.  You don't want to contribute to that, I'm sure.

Re: Randomness

I hear spaniels often have problems with their ears, usually from them being so long and fluffy getting dirty and then infecting the inner ear....but I agree with Deb. And if you get them around January you usually can find many puppies (Santa didnt think it through when buying the family a puppy and so it gets dumped) Both are super cute and every spaniel I have met has been a very loyal and happy dog, but then alot does come down to the owner. I have met the sweetest Bulldogs and the most vicious Collie dogs....So breed doesnt always determine what a dog will be like.

Re: Randomness

It's mostly the Cockers that have the ear infections.  My folks had one and it's true.  KCC Spaniel ears are not nearly as long as Cockers, and it's the length of ear and the weight of the long hair that grows on them that makes them prone to infections.  Really everything I've read and heard about these little guys makes them sound like pretty much the perfect lap dog.

Re: Randomness

Thanks for the advise Kate and Deb. definately keep both in consideration.  I never knew that about a pet store. I think we've only gotten dogs through breeders though.  I've grown up with springer spaniels, and my other dogs did have ear problems.  Zooey, our current one hasn't had as much trouble as Chloe and Lacey did. I'm leaning towards KCC.  I will definately check out SPCA, although I know some people  who have had great luck and bad luck, but I think you would get that with a breeder too.

Re: Randomness

The key to getting a dog from a shelter is to try not to fall in love with one that no one knows anything about.  If you adopt a stray, you never know what you're getting.  If you adopt a surrender that has a story, you can usually learn enough about the dog to work with whatever issues it might have.  That's why Petfinder.com is so great.  Most of the adopters have had the dogs for a while and can tell you all about their little quirks.

Re: Randomness

I don't remember if I've mentioned it here before, but I'm all moved in now at my new place. and my bank site says i no longer have any depth. unfortunately there are other parties that don't agree with that, but I'm well on my way to get that all balanced out. i am actually pretty good with money when there aren't some alfadeuce telling  me other crap and making me feel like shit about myself. would you believe that my personal finances got pretty screwed up in the past five years because said alfadeuce made me feel like a bad person if i used any of the little income that got on anything else but food? I see it now more clear than ever how i let him stump all over me and my selfworth for years just because i tried to keep the peace. I was constanty stressed out about money and making life way too easy for him at home so he didn't have to stress at home. on reward, he pulled into himself, couldn't carry a conversation without yelling and then apparently went and complained to all our mutual friends that I don't talk about our issues and i am a hard person to live with. no wonder they've been looking at me like a weirdo for few years. jeez. as if it wasn't enough that he crushed all my selfesteem and hopes with insults masked as jokes and sometimes even calling me names; he also had to make people see me as somekind of a nutjob. Though, I can only blame myself. In the start, I nursed his bruised ego and bad esteem, and even when i noticed that it was getting twisted into a way that wasn't healthy on my own selfesteem. I'm kinda over-active on the nurturing instincts. I'd spoil people rotten if that made them happy, not caring my own good until it's too late. happens all the time in different forms. I've even literally given clothes off my back when a friend said she liked them. I should just surround myself with people who understand this and sometimes even pamper me a bit too. help me find balance. am i such awful person? I don't think that J knew me very well at all. He never was really observant and forgot things. but enough about that. uh.. ramble.. not wanting to sound like a bitter ex or anything. so i won't write anything about his new 18yo girlfriend...

I like my new place. it's a little small, but beautiful. The closets could be better build. the kitchen could be a bit bigger. but it all works pretty fine. or will, once i get all the furniture and decor. I'm still missing a lot, but I figure I've got until summer to have it just the way i like it. no hand me downs this time. i want this to look like my home now. tired of having things that don't really match. Today I got my new computer. It's a mini laptop. I figured it would be the best choise for me for now since i might have to get a big hunking power-puter if/when i get to study on my dream profession and need to be able to handle 3d programmes. I'm still aiming to start the apprenticeship-work this spring but my optimism if favering. Past two weeks has been hard on me, being so much apart from my kids and dealing with a lot of negative things. I constantly have to remind myself how this is a good change for me, because it seems i shit out of luck. it has to  turn as the year turns or my january is going to be very poor. and then i have to ask food money from J and I don't want anything to do with his money. and please don't say anything about alamony etc. i know what i should get, but as long as i can get by without it, i don't want it.

um... err.. sorry for the rambles. only meant to write a quick note..

What's up for new years?

Re: Randomness

Well, we've already talked about the money stuff.  I wish you wouldn't let yourself get hosed by this guy.  I know you don't want to depend on him, but he needs to provide for his damn kids, and I'm sorry but that means keeping you alive and healthy so you can be there to be their mom.  There's no shame in that.  You gotta get over this self-sacrificing bullshit, girl.  It's going to be the death of you.  And how does that help your kids?
