Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

Oh wow. Well, I once wrote Adam hitting Joan, to be quite honest. Not the actual act of him hitting her, but all of the aftermath. Deb refuses to read it because she said the same thing you did: Adam would never hit Joan. I don't know what hit me when wrote it. It turned into this huge trilogy with two more interludes. Unfortunately I never finished part three. sad

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

Was he supposed to have cheated again?  When was this set?

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

This story takes place years after the Bonnie thing. He got back together with Joan after Bonnie, but... I don't even really remember myself. I think they got into a lot of fights because there was yet another woman, yes. And in a moment of heated argument, he lost control and slapped her in the face. It's my Despicable!Adam story. But after all these years, he truly regrets it and comes crawling back. It's also the story where Helen dies. neutral

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

No, he didn't cheat again.  This was not long after Bonnie.  It was me digging deeper into Adam's mind, trying to find some kind of reasoning behind what he did other than he was horny.  There has to be some reasoning other that the writers didn't think through.

As much as the Bonnie/Adam thing sucks, it really did provide us fanfic writers with some great material to work off of.

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

Wow.  In that context it's very powerful.  Maybe you should say that in your synopsis, that it's after T&E.  You've been writing so many future fics, I didn't know.

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

I made the note wink

I really really want to believe Adam was just incredibly lonely and confused before Bonnie came along.  Him and Joan were still together, but you could tell they just weren't connecting like they used to, and he just wanted to feel a connection again- even if it was purely a physical one.   It still doesn't make it alright, but in my mind it makes it more bearable.

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

Well, I used to say that if they'd made it evident that Adam and Bonnie actually liked each other, if she had been real competition for Joan, it would've been more tolerable what they did. Instead of playing it for shock value by giving us NO hint about what was going on before they cut to Adam putting his shirt back on afterward.  And making him act like a total cad.  Did it really have to be so cheap and dirty?  THAT is why it wasn't Adam.

Here, take a look at the MySpace blog I wrote about it the other day:

It's been sort of an in-joke between us here for a while.

Re: JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories

I'm surprised Grace didn't admonish him to lose the Hugh Grant stutter. ;-)

Deb

She almost did, but I didn't want to reuse something from the show.  He just became a father, stutters are allowed.

And after all, he had a big thing to say where he didn't know how Grace was going to react. I thought the stuttering was cute and very Adamy. smile

I know you were kidding with the Hugh Grant stutter. I never even thought of that JoA scene, but you're right to point us to it.
