None of us would complain if you did
Exactly! Although I can see Larry having a hard time explaining to Mike why on earth he'd want to take a picture of Mike in briefs, holding his thumb(s) up.

Oh, that's his thumb?

It looks like Michael has one of those new pics as his imdb headshot, which now looks a lot better.
and on the topic of Mike in boxer briefs. I think it would be a brilliant idea. By the look of things in Mandy Lane and Arcadia, he seems to have something special behind them.

Great new interview with Michael Welch. Got the link e-mailed from his mom.

(They spelled Shia LaBeouf wrong. Haha!)
Gilles Nuytens: Do you still see your friends from Joan Of Arcadia?
Michael Welch: Yeah. Aaron Himelstein and Chris Marquette have been good friends of mine for years. We hang out whenever possible. I just saw Aaron in a play at the Young Playwrights Festival in Los Angeles. He was in a one-act show with Mae Whitman, a ridiculously talented young actress. It was amazing... I haven't seen Jason Ritter in a while but he's my brother for life and he knows it, so I'm not too worried. I see Joe Mantegna and Mary Steenburgen on occasion. Again, these are all lifetime friendships so I'm sure all of our paths will cross many times. Amber Tamblyn and I have been keeping in touch via text message. We were both strongly supporting different political candidates during the primary season and had some fun loving things to say to each other. Don't worry, it was just typical, back and forth, brother-sister banter, nothing spiteful I promise. I haven't seen Becky Wahlstrom, Mageina Tovah, or Sprague Grayden in a long time. I would love to eat, drink, and be merry with all of those people.

I thought we had a thread for Definitely, Maybe. Guess not. Anyway, my good friend Carol sent me the DVD and I finally got to watch the movie last night. I really wanted to see it in the theater when it came out, but just never did. What a sweet little movie. Not really a comedy. This is definitely one of those movies I've been missing for a long time --- the romantic drama, without a supernatural conceit. Made me smile many, many times, made me ache for the characters, made me cry half a bucket near the end. Beautiful.
Why isn't Ryan Reynolds a major movie star?
I guess my only disappointment in the movie is that Ryan never ran around shirtless. Doesn't he know that's an absolute requirement?

Michael walked the red carpet at the Hollywood Premiere of American Son at the Los Angeles Film Festival on Friday.
He also participated in the Q&A following the screening, along with the director and cast members including Nick Cannon, Melonie Diaz, and Matt O'Leary. Sean couldn't make it.
I was there and took pictures of both events which I'll post as soon as I can.

Cool, thanks for the update, Larry. Looks like you had a lot of fun! Mike looks really good. Please do post more photos. I bet Sean was too busy partying. His birthday was on June 30 and he had a big birthday party planned.

It was a great week. Just between us, we got to spend a lot of time together over the course of several days and went to a couple of movies, out to lunch, dinner etc. The red carpet was excellent and he did a couple of interviews. One of them was streamed live on the LA Film Festival website that night. WireImage was there and posted a couple of pictures.
I have a new Nikon photo editing program which I never used until yesterday so it's taken me a bit longer to go through them but I hope to do that soon. I have 44 pics with him solo or in groups.
It was also the first time he'd seen the film. I'd actually seen it already, which was interesting. I was able to focus less on the film and my reactions to it and more on his. Mike was really moved by it and gave a fairly long speech during the Q&A in response to my question about what moved him the most.

Here are the pictures I shot on the red carpet:

Also, it's looking more and more like an early 2009 release for Mandy Lane. Senator has confirmed that, at this point, their first release will be Fireflies in the Garden in November.
In yesterday's Hollywood Reporter, an article about Senator Entertainment's acquisition of Public Enemy No. 1 says this:
Senator will release its first movie, "Fireflies in the Garden," starring Julia Roberts and Ryan Reynolds, in November. The company also has "The Informers," "Splice," "Clock Tower" and "Unthinkable" in development.

Of course, the implication is that Mandy Lane will not be released before November. Some might assume they only said that because there is no set date yet. Fireflies is the first scheduled film to be released.
A source tells me, however, that early 2009 is more likely because a high profile release with the likes of Julia Roberts would put the company's name in a better position in launching their schedule.

I can't wait to see Mandy Lane in theatres. I've seen it on a free movie site but it was in crappy quality.

I already saw Mandy Lane in 2007. Can't believe it's been almost a year now, and the movie's still not in US theaters. I think it was officially released in Germany one or two weeks ago. However, while I liked Michael and Aaron in it, I have no immediate desire to watch it again. It was a cool, little horror movie, but it's not something I'd watch repeatedly. And it's only half as much fun if you already know how it ends.

First, Mary Steenburgen was the compassionate stepmom of a North Pole free-spirit in "Elf." On July 25th, she'll once again play mother to Will Ferrell in the wild Judd Apatow comedy "Step Brothers." These days, however, she's been getting in sync with her new on-screen son, Justin Timberlake.
"I love him," she said of her co-star in "The Open Road," a recently-wrapped drama that casts JT as the son of a baseball legend (Jeff Bridges) who takes his girlfriend (Kate Mara) on a road trip to deal with his ailing mother. "I play his mommy. I went from playing Will's mommy to Justin's mommy. Go figure!"
Steenburgen explained that "Road" offered herself, as well as the singer/actor star of films like "Black Snake Moan" and "The Love Guru," opportunities to dig into meaty roles unlike they'd had before.
"It's a little more dramatic," the veteran actress insisted. "And it's kind of a quirky little interesting road trip-movie part of the time, between a father and son, Jeff Bridges and Justin. They're being manipulated the whole time by me, from my hospital bed."
Written and directed by relative newcomer Michael Meredith, the flick also co-stars Lyle Lovett and Timberlake's old "Alpha Dog" co-star Harry Dean Stanton. The movie was largely filmed in Hammond, Louisiana, a mere 20 miles from the town that gave us his ex-girlfriend, Britney Spears. Footage was also reportedly shot during minor league games involving the farm teams for the Houston Astros.
When asked what it was like to work with the A-list star, Mary had the highest regards for the "SexyBack" singer. "I love Justin. Justin's funny, creative, real, utterly unspoiled, and amazingly talented. I adore him." Well Mary, so does MTV.

Never heard of that film before.
Looking at the cast it does star one guy that just looks very weird to me, DJ Qualls.
I do like Katey Sagal ever since her Married with Children days.

DJ's a trip. He used to do a lot of crap, but he's landed a few good roles in a few really good movies in the last handful of years. I didn't see much of this movie because I was too preoccupied trying to listen to the Kyle Newman podcast. But because of Jay, it made a nice back-drop. I popped over to listen to Schuyler Fisk sing a song. She's terrific. I'd like to see the rest of it sometime.
