Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

I like the idea behind it & the cast, but it looks a little too brazen for me!   wink I might catch it on dvd...

Mel - I really like 50/50 too - Seth Rogen really surprised me in that movie!

Four christmases on TV tonight. worth watching just because of Mary Steenburgen? I'm kinda sick of Vince Vaughn..

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

I kinda want to start the tradition to wath Love Actually every year on Christmas, but it's no fun when you're alone every year. I mean, of course I'm not alone, I am with my family, but technically I would be, but I'd rather have a best friend to watch it with. Well, maybe next year.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Apparently I'm having a Jay Baruchel day. big_smile I wached The Sorcerer's apprentice because I wanted to see if it was good for my kids. Nic Gage really rubbed off to the guy since I found the movie spectacular. I like the non-whiney Jay that I saw every now and then. I wish he had vocal coaching or something... anyways, I somehow wanted to see more of him and now I'm watching The Trtotsky. it's surprisingly good and he is less like I've seen him in everything else. I'm contemplating if I should watch Out of my league next or Fanboys. I'm kinda leaning on the first one since Fanbos will inevitably lead to a Chrisathon and the niece will protest. lol

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Watch Goon.  Jay co-wrote and plays the best friend guy.  He's not whiny.  He's abrasive and filthy, but funny.

I was thinking of watching Goon too but then I'd fall to the Sean William Scott trap. lol.

My fourth movie today is Dylan Dog: Dead of night. Sammy makes a cute zombie big_smile

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

I tried to watch that show, but I couldn't get into it.  I guess I just don't find the situation that family is in very funny.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

I don't find it funny either. I guess I'm kinda watching it as a drama with dark humor. I didn't even think it was supposed to be funny after watching the first 30 minutes and then realizing they were 60 minute episodes and not getting any funnier, so probably not a sitcom as was my first assumption.

It's supposed to be a dramedy.  It just makes me sad and uncomfortable.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Ryan Reynolds can't get enough of playing Deadpool
There's a stand--alone Deadpool movie in the works but it will be years before it will get out and it will be pretty heavily rated so it's likely not to get a big audience and they're just getting ready for a flop. But Ryan wants to be in another Wolverine movie as Deadpool so he can just take a piss on everybody and be a bad boy. big_smile

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Dan Fogler's movie with Josh Duhamel, Scenic Route, which premiered at SXSW, is going to Cannes!  How cool is that?  Can't wait to see Dan enjoy that ride.

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Ugh, why are half of the new shows unoriginal sounding cop procedurals? There is really is nothing original on television anymore. The producers of Bomb Girls are also doing a cop show set in Toronto, called Played. I mean, I'm actually partial to cop shows, but not this many at the same time!

Re: In Praise of Chris's Colleagues

Like everything else in Hollywood, they make them because they're successful.  I don't know why because I don't generally care for cop shows.  I only watch if there's cast that draws me in, like Law & Order: SVU, or SouthLAnd.  I will be watcing NCIS: Red, but only because of my deep and abiding love for Scott Grimes.

My favorite stuff always tends to be totally NOT that kind of show.  Hell, my obsession these days is the exact opposite.  It's a little cult phenom that's starting to make waves in the mainstream about outlaw bikers, Sons of Anarchy.  Before that, I was obsessed with another little cult show about family & football in a small Texas town, Friday Night Lights.  And before that it was JoA.

So I am obviously with you in my disdain for boring procedurals.  There's a lot of weird sc-fi/fantasy coming too.  But none of them sound all that exciting to me either.
