Cool. I emailed 50 or so weinstein email addresses (stupid hotmail only allowing 50 email recipients). I just used the email from that darthweinstein (:D) site. I'm not a stars wars fan, but y'know I don't think it matters in the scheme of what the email's trying to achieve, and I really do not feel like writing my own.

Re: Bend Over FANBOYS... MAJOR SPOILERS!!! ADULT LANGUAGE!!! STAY OUT!!!

We discovered today that there are a whole bunch of bad addresses and TeeJay found some new ones to replace them with.  She sent them to the guys and we hope they'll update the list with them.  May be best to give it a day or two, then hit it again.

Re: Bend Over FANBOYS... MAJOR SPOILERS!!! ADULT LANGUAGE!!! STAY OUT!!!

Also, not surprisingly, the ones for harvey.weinstein@ and bob.weinstein@ bounced. wink I tried writing to shauna.robertson@ and that one didn't bounce. She's the co-producer who's apparently largely responsible for all these recent changes. Maybe we should add her address to the list too. E-mails to the following people came back as "I don't work at TWC anymore":
Katie Werner, Ann Trione, Colin Vaines, Liz Berger, Lisa Giannakopulos, Michael Schaefer, Brendan Deneen, Paula Woods.

These came back undeliverable:
bob.weinsein@weinsteinco.com, harvey.weinsein@weinsteinco.com, tawny.rodriguez@weinsteinco.com, webmaster@weinsteinco.com.

Hey, wait a minute. Bob and Harvey were spelled wrong. They forgot the T in Weinstein... Gotta let them know.

But instead these e-mail addresses were named as alternate contact details for those people who didn't work at TWC anymore:
jennifer.abramowitz@weinsteinco.com, sara.serlen@weinsteinco.com, diana.peters@weinsteinco.com, alison.diviney@weinsteinco.com, Andrew.Zoppa@WeinsteinCo.com, anjulee.alvares@weinsteinco.com, matthew.frankel@weinsteinco.com, justine.raczkiewicz@weinsteinco.com, Lucy.Aronica@weinsteinco.com, shauna.robertson@weinsteinco.com

Please add them to the list if you plan to write to TWC yourself. I sent my first e-mail last night. Will send more from other addresses this weekend.

Re: Bend Over FANBOYS... MAJOR SPOILERS!!! ADULT LANGUAGE!!! STAY OUT!!!

I asked my German friend Ralf if he'd post a little story in German on sf-radio.net about our campaign this weekend. He said, sure. So whatever we're gonna come up for our front page this weekend to advertise the campaign, I'm gonna translate it to German and have Ralf post it. Hopefully we'll find a few Germans who'll join our cause. I'll also try to go on German Star Wars sites and post it. This weekend will be posting and advertising weekend. big_smile

Dear God in Heaven...

Cinematical :The Dirty Truth About 'Fanboys'
by chris1010   2 hours ago (Thu Feb 21 2008 12:38:44)  Ignore this User | Report Abuse
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.cinematical.com/2008/02/21/t … t-fanboys/

Here's the Fanboys synopsis currently up on IMDb: "Star Wars" fans travel to Skywalker Ranch to steal an early copy of "Episode I: The Phantom Menace" for their dying friend."

Problem is, that's not the movie everyone will see when it eventually hits theaters. There's been a ton of talk surrounding the Fanboy re-cuts; how the cancer storyline was taken out, how Kyle Newman was replaced as director, and how the Weinsteins have pretty much turned Fanboys into a completely different film from what was originally intended. Yesterday, fans wrote into AICN claiming to have donated props for the film, and were upset over all these changes. So upset they were starting a campaign against The Weinstein Co., hoping to get Newman's original cut released instead of this new one.

Thanks to a well-placed, super delegate secret spy source, Cinematical was able to get the real skinny on what was going on with Fanboys. Some of this info is new, some old, but I have confirmed all of it to be true. First off, Kyle Newman definitely was replaced as director for the re-shoots by Steve Brill (Without a Paddle). The "dying of cancer" storyline was completely dumped, and, instead, the fanboys are now trying to sneak a copy of Phantom Menace simply because they're fans and want to see it. According to my source, the story is now "disjointed, nonsensical and lacking any heart."

Oh, there's more ...

Here's where it gets messy: Apparently, both versions were screened for test audiences -- and the new version only tested two points higher than the old version. My super delegate source also claims plants may have been in the audience -- there to pursuade moviegoers to vote against the original version -- but this has not been proven. In two days, after the old version was screened, Brill re-cut the film and they tested it again -- this time it was tighter, dirtier and contained nudity, lots of F-bombs, the whole works. And even with all that, it still only tested two points higher than the old version. But since Weinstein had to justify the fact that they spent an extra $2 million on the re-shoots, they went with the newer, flashier, Without a Paddle-esque version of Fanboys.

This new version, I've been told, is funny, but nowhere close to what it was supposed to be. It was supposed to be for fans who grew up with Star Wars -- it was supposed to be a love letter to George Lucas -- and now it's, well, Without a Paddle 2. The real problem here, I feel, is not so much the fact that the movie was re-shot and re-cut, but that the studio may have been using plants in a test audience to try to get moviegoers to sway their opinion. What the *beep* is the purpose of a test audience then?

There's some more that I can't get into, but there you have it. There's still no word on when the film will arrive in theaters (if at all), but I'll be checking out a cut of Fanboys soon and will report back on how it is.

You see, people? Plants. You see how sleazy Fat Bastard & the Greedy Suits are? You see how dishonest and pathetic this whole situation is. I suspect that this "source" is the same as our source. The wording is very similar. And if it is, then you can take this as gospel.

And it stinks. They need to justify this "experiment" in fcktardery? Hey, Fat Bastard, it was your lame-o idea to ruin the mobvie. I don't give crap about your extra two million. You can shove it up your ass, if you can find the hole.

Just what I always wanted to see, Without A Paddle 2. Fck! I don't even wanna see Without A Paddle!

Re: Bend Over FANBOYS... MAJOR SPOILERS!!! ADULT LANGUAGE!!! STAY OUT!!!

From Geeks Of Doom:

'Fanboys' Re-Cut Incites a Rebellion

Empress Eve    Posted by Empress Eve  |  February 21st, 2008 at 5:40 pm

Back in the Geeks of Doom Summer '07 Movie Mayhem post, I wrote the following about my anticipation for the Star Wars-themed film Fanboys, "The only thing that could possibly suck about this movie is the fact that I'm not in it."

Well, looks like there actually might be more that could suck about this film — WAY MORE. Like the fact that it started out as an homage to Star Wars fandom, but the word out now — first reported by AICN, then confirmed by Cinematical — is that's the movie has been completely changed.

The original description of Fanboys was that it was comedy about a group of friends (played by Sam Huntington, Kristen Bell, Dan Fogler, Jay Baruchel, and Chris Marquette) who take their friend who's dying of cancer on a cross-country trip to sneak into Skywalker Ranch in hopes of fullfilling the friend's dying wish to see an advanced screening of Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Now, the film has been re-cut to ditch the "dying of cancer" storyline completely, which means that the group of friends are now breaking into Skywalker Ranch simply because they're fans and want to see The Phantom Menace ahead of time. THAT SUCKS!

A group of Star Wars fans who donated their time and props to Fanboys has started a rebellion against the Weinstein Company called Stop The Darth Weinstein, and have opened up sites dedicated to the fight at MySpace, Beam.to, and Seeya.at.

And I totally understand why. Cinematical's source says that the film's new story is "disjointed, nonsensical and lacking any heart."

How unfortunate. When Fanboys was first announced, everything about this it seemed amazing. It was one of my most anticipated films, because I felt that finally someone was going to get the fanboy (and fangirl) life right. I mean, c'mon, just look at that movie poster (see here at top right) and then there were the pics of Kristen Bell in a Slave Leia outfit. That's so cool! Plus, all the test screenings come in positive and the director — Kyle Newman — seemed like the ultimate fanboy and was so enthusiastic about the project. And while I was sad when the film's release date was moved to August 17, 2007, at least there was a great reason — to incorporate sound and special effects from the Star Wars films! SW creator George Lucas gave his approval after viewing an early cut of the film (see George Lucas Gives 'Fanboys' Thumbs Up).

Did you get that? George Lucas gave his approval! I guess that was too good to be true, because before you know it, the release date was again changed, this time to the graveyard of release dates — mid January (aside from Cloverfield, January is reserved for the "no-confidence, tax-off" anticipated bombs). Eventually, the Weinstein Company spent $2 million on re-shoots with a different director — Steve Brill (Without a Paddle) and did a re-cut of the film.

There's still no official release date for the film and at this point, I hope the Rebellion wins out and The Weinstein Company releases the original version.

Re: Bend Over FANBOYS... MAJOR SPOILERS!!! ADULT LANGUAGE!!! STAY OUT!!!

Even someone who didn't like the original version thinks what they're doing sucks...

From C.H.U.D.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WEINSTEIN CO'S DEPARTMENT OF DIRTY TRICKS GOES AFTER FANBOYS

By Devin Faraci Published Yesterday News
I'm on the record as being no fan of the Fanboys script, and I certainly agree with what seems to be the prevailing wisdom at the Weinstein Co - that a movie about a kid dying of cancer who breaks into Lucasfilm to see Episode I early is the filmic equivalent of a kitten in a box being run over by a semi (what's more depressing - dying of cancer or remembering the first time you saw Episode I?) - but Cinematical's revelations of their dirty tricks employed to force an edit of the movie sickens me.

First of all, the site confirms what we've all heard: Kyle Newman has been fired from the movie and Steve Brill, auteur behind Without A Paddle (and the upcoming Apatow film Drillbit Taylor, scarily enough) was brought in to bend the film to the wishes of the Weinsteins. But they go further and claim that the recent test screenings of the film - a version with cancer and a version without cancer were shown - included plants in the audience who were there to skew the test screening numbers. What's funny is that even with plants (and the inclusion of nudity and more swearing), the Brill version of Fanboys only scored two points higher than the Newman version.

Test screenings are bad enough, but if the studio is going to game the system, why even bother having them? Just dictate your vision to the director - put it in their contracts. The Weinstein boys remain as crazy and controlling as ever, even as their new studio continues to sink away into obscurity (they're racing New Line to the bottom of the tar pit, it seems), but the level of dishonesty on display here is low, even for these guys.

At this point I wonder if this movie will ever even be released. I floated that question by a Weinstein rep at Sundance and didn't get anything solid by way of an answer. The Weinsteins spent 2 million extra dollars on the reshoots and re-edits, so you have to imagine they're going to want to do something with this film. This summer we'll see if Fanboys comes to San Diego Comic Con for the fourth year in a row, or if it just floats away to be dumped on DVD.

Steven Brill e-mailed the SDW guys. I hope you can read it without a MySpace account, but you should be able to. The text is very long, so I don't wanna copy it all. Here goes:

http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea … =360381212

My God, he basically insults Kyle Newman and Ernie Cline and Adam Goldberg. He says the cancer version of the movie is unreleasable. Yeah, right! Asshole.

I'll read it when I get home, but let's remember that Brill is the "genius" behind such highbrow classics as Without A Paddle & Little Nicky.  His opinion means absofuckinglutely nothing.

Re: Bend Over FANBOYS... MAJOR SPOILERS!!! ADULT LANGUAGE!!! STAY OUT!!!

His e-mail is priceless. I can bring that over, his e-mail itself isn't that long. The SDW guys wrote more in answer of it, that's what's kinda long. But well worth the read.

DARTH WEINSTEIN'S CHIEF UNDERLING HAS MADE CONTACT!!!

And from the content of the email, he obviously thought he was writing us anonymously. He signed his email with the initials "GL." Probably a lame jab at George Lucas.

But guess what? This rocket scientist forgot to take his name out of the "From" line!!!  Thank you, Mr. Brill! This is best present we've received since last year's Life Day!

Here is Grand Moff Brill-o-Head's email in its entirety. (And yes - that's his e-mail address. Feel free to send him some of your thoughts, gang!)

First we'll let you read the whole thing, then we'll let you read our response:

To: stopdarthweinstein@yahoo.com
From: "Steven Brill" <frankhuddy@aol.com>
Subject: None
Date: Thu, 21 Feb 2008 12:14:17 -0800

I can hook you up with the facts on this one.
My only advice is don't judge something til you have seen it. Have you seen the cancer version of this movie? I have. It is unreleaseable. It would be irresponsible to release it. The cancer is used as a convenient subplot and is actually offensive to anybody who knows anything about or has gone through cancer. Trust me. You are fighting for something that you would not be proud of. Cancer is trivialized, marginalized and reduced to the worst kind of contrivance. That is what you are fighting to see. And you will see it. At least on the dvd. And you will cringe at the bad, manipulative melodrama that goes against the true spirit of the piece. The non cancer version is true, joyful and and in no way condescending to star wars fans. But again. You should see it. And perhaps you will. If you stop ranting about things you have not seen. You honestly remind me of the religious right condemning movies and books they haven't seen or read, and have only been fed inflammatory facts about....usually from people with an agenda. Your precious Star Wars homage movie has been made, and has been preserved......you will see. And then you should apologize to Darth Weinstein......

yr pal,

GL

Now tell me the text marked in bold isn't insulting everyone on the creative team behind the movie. Can someone get me a Steven Brill voodoo doll?

Apologize to Darth Weinstein? Over my dead body.

-TeeJay

Re: Bend Over FANBOYS... MAJOR SPOILERS!!! ADULT LANGUAGE!!! STAY OUT!!!

:rofl::silly::rofl:

So basically it was CRAP until he got his mitts on it?  What a crock!  If they seriously, in good faith, believed it was unreleasable then what was the point of those farcicle test screenings?  Obviously they (and the questions asked of the viewers) were totally slanted to approve the version they've already decided on.  But this dishonest and cowardly self-justification is really beyond the pale.  I'm surprised that Mr. Brill found the time to get out of Mr. Weinstein's colon long enough to type that ridiculous little epistle roll.

And I wish I believed him that we'd eventually get to see the director's version.  But I've got my doubts.  We'll probably just get a bunch of deleted scenes.  And, while that's better than nothing, it's a long way from really seeing "Fanboys".
