Heh. This is cool. A teen acting guide recommends JoA to aspiring young actors. It points out the great cast...

This is a photo I took in Vienna. It was already dark and the flash of my compact camera pretty much sucks, so the pic is very grainy. Gasse means alleyway in German.

I guess this should go in the random thread...
Has anybody noticed the Dawson's Creek references in the show? I wasn't a big fan of DC back in the day but I've noticed.
1. I think it's filmed at the same school Dawson's Creek was.<---Then maybe since it is, that's maybe why they put the references in.
2. Meredith Monroe (Andie on DC) plays Michelle Turner the author in "Double Dutch."
3. Mark Matkevich (Drew on DC) plays Roger.
4. Ian Bohen (Anderson on DC) plays Peter, I think a lawyer with Beth, on "Wealth of Nations."
5. Joan and Adam go on a trip to Dawson State in "Game Theory."
6. Both shows have the same school colors.
There's probably more but that's all I can think of now. (if I can think of more I will add)
I just think it's weird.
Maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

I've never watched Dawson's Creek, so I never noticed. Could be, though.

I only watched Dawson's Creek s1-4 incl. & the finale, mostly because I'm a Pacey/Joey fan above all. I tend to stop watching shows when my couple breaks up sometimes. :embarrassed:
I noticed Roger=Drew (I loved Drew, he was cool) and Andie (whom I never liked). Now that you mention it I remember that the uni trip was to Dawson State, but I didn't connect that t the time. I didn't notice the others. I think there's quite a few DC references in other teen shows, which is funny because DC itself was so heavy on the pop culture references.

I find it so funny every time I see it that look on Mary's face in The Election when she retrieves "Mama said there'd be days like this" and the gerbil drops.

I did watch Dawson's Creek and I didn't notice either. Guess it was too long ago.

I'll have to take your word on Dawson's Creek, but I noticed that there were a lot of people from Buffy. Amber Tamblyn, Armin Shimerman (He was in Trial and Error), Mageina Tovah, Kathryn Joosten, Jack Plotnick (JoA's Sammy #2), David Grammer (JoA's Carl Rove), and Wentworth Miller, just to name a few. Amber Tamblyn, Kathryn Joosten, and Wentworth Miller were all one episode major players in Buffy. David Grammer and Mageina Tovah both played minor characters. Jack Plotnick was the Deputy Mayor and Armin Shimerman was Principal Snyder.
But then again I could probably make any show look like a Buffy fest with minimal effort with the amount of time I spend on IMDB (but avoiding the message boards there).:P Okay I admit it - I'm obsessed with both shows.

I'm a Buffy/Angel nut too. It always tickled me when people cross-pollinated.

I once started making a list of movies or shows that I've watched that had an overabundance of Buffy or Angel characters, and let me just say, it's pure insanity. I don't recommend anyone trying it because it's never ends.
Oh and I finished reading Butterflies again (I've lost count of how many times I've been through it now). And may I just say...

Haha. Thanks. That's quite a compliment! I've really been anxious to get back into it lately. We have a future chapter finished that I can't wait to post, but there's a lot that has to happen in the mean time. We have a pretty intense chapter in the works, too, but haven't had time to do much with it lately. I hope we can get back into it soon. The next chapter has a lot of business to take care of and it's a tough one. But I really miss Adam and Joan...
Can I ask, what's been your favorite part of the story?

Picking a favorite part is near impossible, really. The wedding, the honeymoon, the reunion, the housewarming party, "exposed", and "these things" all come to mind as stand out favorites.
I'm looking forward to more Butterflies. I have some JoA rewatching to do until then.

I watched Recreation and State of Grace today. Adam's "I have metal studs on my boxers" kills me everytime.

Oh yeah, that's so funny!
And I looooooooooooooooooooove the last scene of Recreation. :embarrassed:

I do too even though I find myself going "Aww, poor Adam" throughout that entire episode.

I say that in the earlier parts of the ep too. But at the end all I can think is, that boy is SO IN LOVE.

I wish they would have had the chance to be happy together longer, without people like Roger, Bonnie, Stevie, etc to create problems or help make their problems worse. Oh well, for that there's Butterflies.

I just tried to name every person who strained Adam and Joan's relationship. It's a very long, never-ending list
Offline
You're right. I never really thought of it that way. I get so tired of writers thinking that every single relationship on every single show has to be in jeopardy all the time. No one's ever allowed to be happy for five minutes. They think we'll get bored if our characters are happy. Nope, I get bored by manufactured conflict.

Oh yeah, that's exactly what I think, too. I hate that. I mean, even on TV characters deserve to be happy.

Yep. Because people don't have enough drama in their lives. We need the fake drama in television shows we use to get away from our real life drama to make us feel better about how crappy our lives are.
