Re: Random JoA Stuff...

Did you know that in 10 days our show will be 7 years old? *sigh*
Well, at least in the US. The German birthday would be October 2, which I declare my personal JoA Day now.

I had no idea whatsoever. JOA is the best show and still deserves to film and be on air!

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

Netflix recommended for me a silent French movie (that did have english subtitles thank you very much!) called Passion of Joan the Arc.  Its about her final hours, execution and death.  Really interesting, especially even just the history of the film itself.  Recommend for Joan fans and movie fans.

It did get me thinking- if the show had continued do you think our Joan would have had a similar fate as the real Joan of Arc?  Just a question.  I think with it being a "family" television show she wouldn't have been burned at the stake :)but might have gone through some other trial.  What do you think?  Just was curious! wink

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

It did seem like they were headed in a much heavier direction.  Could be they would've done something fairly equivalent, but not quite so on-the-nose as the stake.

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

I'm reading a book on Joan of Arc right now written actually by Mark Twain.  Not the biggest fan of his but this book is interesting.  Non-Fiction, he spent 12 years researching it France.  It's alright, definately gives you a deeper look into who Joan is, but I like our Joan version better! smile

I had no idea Twain wrote anything about Jeanne d'Arc.  I definitely need to read that!

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

I had a mini joan a thon this weekend and watched the first disc of the second season.  I love the friendships made there and Adam and Joan before the break up.  I always stop somewhere around the middle because I don't want to find out what happens!

I got to thinking though: Why was Judith killed?  I always enjoyed her character on the show and thought sprague grayden brought a lot to the friends in a weird way.  Especially Friedman.

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

They said somewhere in the commentary that they wanted Joan to suffer a big loss and take her through that.  Writers just love to torture their characters.  So basically, in my estimation anyway, they spent a lot of time building this very complex character and then reduced her to a plot device. Just another example of how much the writing in S2 had devolved.  Now, I think Friday Night is a brilliant, almost perfect episode in and of itself.  But that doesn't change the fact that they killed Judith off just so we could watch Joan deal with the loss.

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

I would have been like "I know this guy, I know this guy ..." and then I'd try to think of who it is but would never figure it out and then, later, when I would have stopped thinking about it, I'd be like "Oh my GOOOD, it's Joan's Dad!" lol

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

It'd be really fun if someone could Photoshop Helen in.  I'm sure Carol and I could find a way to make big fun of Will for being a hippie in a fic sometime.
