Re: Random JoA Stuff...

I changed the line, thanks.  I'll probably write a sequel to it... it's itching at me now.

Yeah... most likely expect it, I just have no idea when I'll actually get it out.  I'm totally not used to writing for Glynis and I'm kinda in a little slum right now.

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

Adam didn't invent 'cha' either, it was a fairly well-used phrase by kids in the 90s in America

Yep.  Specifically California surfer boys liked saying it.

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

Exactly.  He took the surfer phrase and made it acceptable for subdefectives to use.

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

I remember I was a little confused when I was watching The Fire And The Wood for the first time in English, because Adam used a word that I never had heard of before. It was "shizzle-ma-nizzle" or something like that. I couldn't remember how they translated it for the German version, but I guessed it had to be something like "Firlefanz", that's a word you can't translate easily. It's a slang word and we use it as a fancy word for some random stuff. LOL

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

Urban Dictionary says:

1.      shizzle ma nizzle
it means for sure my nigger.
Invented by prisoners who add "izzle" to everything when they are talking on the prison phone so anyone listening wont know what they are actually talking about.

Go to wizzle 51 stizzle and the gizzles will be there.
Ok for shizzle ma nizzle

Go to west 51st street and the guns will be there.
ok for sure my nigger.

2.     shizzle ma nizzle
shizzle ma nizzle means "for sure ma nigger"

e.g. shizzle ma nizzle this is sum heavy shit man.

3.     shizzle ma nizzle
used by pimps and homeboys as an exclamation of excitement, shock or joy

"Shizzle ma nizzle, that is some good weed!"

Doesn't make much more sense now, does it?

This one just cracked me up:

Shizzle my nizzle.

This is a verb. To shizzle my nizzle means to take a salt shaker (aka shizzle) and have it expel its sodium-rich innards over someone's belly button. (aka navel, which leads to nizzle.) Shizzling someone's nizzle is a great sign of respect in many countries. Just don't do it in Italy. Ho boy... trust me.

He shook hands then shizzled my nizzle.

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

Dude, I didn't want a perfect explanation of that word. I just translated it for myself with Firlefanz because it made sense with the context. wink

But I wanted an explanation! Because I hadn't heard it before either and I couldn't remember where it actually came from.

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

That word has generally drifted away for my generation, actually. xD Er, set of words. Nizzle meaning, um, nigger means this word is frowned upon, so you don't often hear people saying it. You still here the -izzle every now and then, but not like it used to be. Or at least where I live. The suburbs is different than the city, so who knows.

I wonder how Adam heard it. Do you think he knew what it meant, or was just trying to look cool?

Adam probably heard some kid in school say it and he thought it sounded interesting, so he decided to try it on Joan.   Because he would lose an arm if he said that to Grace, so Joan was his last resort.  I don't think he knew what he was saying cause right after it came out he made a face like "why did I just say that?"

I think he made that face because of how ridiculous it sounded coming out of his mouth.

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

I think it sounded adorable coming from his mouth.  Every guy needs to make a fool out of himself in front of the girl of his dreams at least once... or in Adam's case twenty times in a year.
