Re: American Gun

And now, before I rush off to do my homework and study and probably even write more... Ahhhh! That was amazingly good and SAD!

Seriously, Chris was mind-blowing in this movie. I loved all the stories, but I naturally loved his the most. I found it so heart-breaking that David's life was just starting to get better (he and his mom seemed to be getting along better, he had a friend/potential romantic interest), and then it just gets nearly destroyed by gun yet again. I knew as soon as she said, "I need to get something from the store" that something was going to happen there, but I really didn't expect her to get shot. I should've, in a symbolic irony kind of way. I was in shock for the longest time. Once I saw David I started crying, though. I had on subtitles because it was difficult to understand at some parts (when everyone was yelling about the flags, Maryann's grandfather talking soft), and when David was crying it said "sniffle" at the bottom. T_T I died a little inside because I wanted to hug him, but I couldn't. It was so horrible that they just left it there, too. *huggles*

Still, amazing movie. It sort of annoyed me that Carter's story connected to Davids (i.e. he saw Janet on TV), but Maryann's didn't connect to either of theirs. Well, I suppose they were all connected because of the common factor of guns, but... Argh, I don't know. I had it much better formulated in my mind last night.

I'll see if I can add anything else after I watch it again - my mom didn't get the chance to watch last night, so I promised her we'd be able to see it when she had time. ^_^

My life long dream is to somehow get Adam Rove into a puppy-suit. Until then, my imagination will have to tide me over.

Re: American Gun

Yeah, the end of David's story is devastating.  And Chris is so sweet and adorable and ultimately broken.  Wow.

Here's a link to TeeJay's continuation fic...

Re: American Gun

I nodded through most of your post, Ashley. I felt the movie could have been so much more if they had somehow more interwoven the storylines more. Somehow to me they felt like three separate movies. And aside from Chris being in it, I felt the Janet/David storyline was the one that was most powerful with the most potential. And, yes, Chris blows you away, doesn't he? So sad. I'm so glad we managed to tell Chris last year that we loved him in this movie.

Re: American Gun

Well, look at that. Deb is flipping channels and we land on Showtime, and what do we see? The scene between David and Tally at school from American Gun. So it looks like "our" version of American Gun has started to show on cable. That's very cool.

Re: American Gun

Just ran into it again.  At the scene where David and Tally and Mouse are coming out of school, before the tattooing.  <Sigh>.  And now Tally's about to be shot.  Tisha mentioned in an email last night that she caught some of the movie on cable. There's David, sitting on the curb, crying.  What must it be like watching her son play these incredibly intense scenes?  I just love this movie.  How can anyone who loves Chris help it?

Re: American Gun

So I finally saw this movie the other day. To be honest I didn't really like it. It was just three stories that never really went anwhere in one movie. Chris's acting however was phenomenal. Yeah loved the tear duct action. I really like seeing him in more serious roles like this.

Re: American Gun

Yeah, the story about the girl didn't really make sense to me, but I liked David's storyline. I mean, of course it was sad, but Chris's (and Marcia's) performance(s) made it special.

Hope you like it as much as we do, Fan.  Chris's storyline is the best in the film.

Re: American Gun

You're from Iceland, right? The DVD has been in stores in the US/Canada for a while now. I don't think the movie's on DVD anywhere outside the US/Canada. If you really want it and you have a credit card (and a DVD player that can play US DVDs), you can order it from amazon.com, axelmusic.com, cd-wow.net or any other place that sells American DVDs.
