Yeah, that's disappointing, but did you guys honestly expect juicy extras after s1's pathetic attempt, and then the treatment of Joan of Arcadia since?

Yeah, looking back on how CBS treated our favorite show I sometimes think that we can be happy that they released Season 2 on DVD at all. I mean, even the Season 1 Extras are kinda lame.

To be honest I just wanted a box set of JoA in good quality. I'm kinda a geek about completing dvd sets of tv shows I love. wink

Me too. I was hoping for some good extras with Chris but I kinda guessed that they would not do that.

I did expect a little something, yeah.  But I'm not surprised we didn't get it.

Guess who just got home and found JoA on the porch waiting for me.  I can't believe the blasted thing came in a day early.  Wow!  I never have that kind of luck.  Off to watch the table-read now.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

OK, I realized I didn't have enough time to get into the table-read just yet.  I'm gonna watch Prison Break and then get back to the set.  I'll tape the rest of my shows.  So I watched most of the Look At Season 2.  You guys are gonna love it.  Chris has quite a few nice interview tidbits.  I just about melted listening to him talk about Mary Steenburgen.  TeeJay, you'll get some very cute screencaps out of it too.  big_smile

"Working actors, go back to work!" - Jim Hayman

Just finished the watching table read.  I really enjoyed it.  It's fascinating to me as a screenwriter to see this, how the actors feel out their dialog.  I won't spoil it for you guys except to say that Aaron and Michael are hilarious in the "Luke Of Narcadia" pot-smoking scenes.  They have the rest of the room in stitches.  Chris is on camera quite a bit due to his position at the table --- between Mary and Becky and directly across from Amber.  But as we all know, he doesn't have a lot of dialog in the ep, so...

Also, they don't show every single scene. But pay close attention and you will catch some deleted stuff.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

The Making Of Queen Of The Zombies opens with Chris telling what he thinks of it.  It's really cute and funny, along the lines of the Ken Doll quote, but not naughty.  But that's really all there is in that one.  Still a damn nice feauturette though.  And I learned something --- Graeme Clifford, who edited the great Rocky Horror Picture Show, directed the ep.  That freakin' rocks!

Re: JoA season two on DVD

In the commentary for Only Connect, BH actually kind of spills that she thought it by the time they boke up Joan and Adam, it was just time for actors and the characters, they just weren't kids anymore.  The way she says it is very depressing.  She sounds like they were played out.   That's so wrong.  And this in a bit where she and Jim Hayman are talking about letting things change and evolve on the show.  It's their fault that they didn't write things to change and evolve between Adam and Joan.  Instead, they mired them in cliche'.  They didn't even try.  They built something beautiful, chickened out when it was ready to shine and then just tore it down.  It didn't have to end, and it certainly didn't have to end that way.  They chose not to carry on what they sterted in S1 --- dealing with sex in a very non-OC way and being damn proud of it.  They seemed to have no idea how to write that anymore.  They had a failure of imagination.

Ass-Sucking Music Replacement Rant #1:

Jesus D. God.  Celebrate is replaced in Out Of Sight by some completely unrecognizable $5 pablum pop song that doesn't even exist in the real world of music.  I defy ANYONE to identify this song.  Those who have ears, you are doomed.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

Thanks for the tidbits, Deb. Now I really want that s2 set after all. Hope it doesn't take more than two weeks. Yeah, can't wait to make some screen- and vidcaps. Nice to know that Chris at least has some little bits and pieces in the extras. I wasn't expecting much from them, but it looks like we got a tiny bit more than we bargained for.

They replaced Celebrate?? No way!! That's so sad. And I agree with Susanna, so very wrong. I hate CBS!

Re: JoA season two on DVD

Just got back from a fruitless trip to Target.  On their website, they list the set for $34.99.  You get in the store and it's $44.99.  And no one could tell me why that is.  So I told them to keep it and walked out.  I wasted half my lunch hour going there because their price was supposedly so much better than everyone else's.  Guess I'll be going to Best Buy on the way home tonight where it's listed for $37.99.  And I'll never set foot in Target or touch their false advertising website ever again.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

They *bleep* who was at the Customer Service counter said their website states that these prices are not good in the store.  I asker her where it said that.  She claims it's on the front page.  I can't find any such disclaimer.  Maybe I'm blind.  They were kind of obnoxious about it so I left.  Didn't wanna waste my whole lunch hour arguing with idiots.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

OK, so I stopped by Best Buy on the way home and their online price is a lie too.  It's $37.99 on the website, $47.99 in the store.  So I walked out, came home and ordered my copy from Amazon.com fo $34.99 with the free shipping. Don't know when I'll get it.  So my question is, can I wait till I get mine before I ship yours, TeeJay?  Or should I go ahead and ship it in the next couple of days as planned?  Also, I did find a magnetic tag in it after all.  You were right.

Ass-Sucking Music Replacement Rant #2:

They replaced Peter Gabriel's magnificent "Shakin' The Tree" with another unrecognizable piece of crap at the end of The Cat.  I love they way they used that song.  It's a crying shame that they did this crap.  I feel sorry people seeing the show for the first time on DVD.  They are not getting the full experience.

You guys will probably notive even more of the contemporary stuff being replaced.  I just don't know many of those songs so I can't get outraged about them.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

Had a full schedule of shows I really wanted to watch tonight... Jericho, of course, Criminal Minds with Anton and Medium.  Didn't get to watch any eps much less cap The Election.  Tomorrow night is crowded too.  I think I'm curling up with the set this weekend.  Don't have any money to do anything anyway.

Anyway, the only thing I got around to tonight was rewatching the Look At S2 featurette.  I won't spoil the yummy Chris bits for you, don't worry.  tongue

But there's a couple of Michael and Becky things I wanted to tease you with...

1) Michael is a total A/J shipper.  Listen to what he says when asked about his favorite moments on the show.
2) Talking about Luke's relationship with Grace he says, Luke felt more like a mistress than a boyfriend.  Hilarious.
3) Becky says that Michael is going to make someone a great husband someday because he's so sweet and so smart.  Awwww.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

Okay, so Chris lied when he said the only thing they ever did for JoA was a photoshoot, did he? Just kidding. He probably didn't remember that they did a couple of featurettes with interviews. Looks like we'll get to see juuust a little more Chris on the s2 set than we thought, but I'm not expecting any miracles. Seeing him saying something here and there will suffice. And I think Deb has hinted enough that we'll get to see that. Cool. Looking forward to it.

I'm sure the Michael and Becky moments are great too. I wanna see!

Re: JoA season two on DVD

There's way more than I expected.  There's a whole chunk of Chris and Amber talking about Adam & Joan with clips interspersed.  And then there's the part where everyone talks about their favorite moments.  They cut to him three times in that part and he tells about a Michael bit, a Jason bit and a Mary bit that he loved.  That part is really interesting.  Michael talks about Joan & Adam stuff, Becky talks about Grace stuff, Jason talks about Kevin stuff, Mary talks about Grace & Luke stuff and Joe talks about family stuff.  Right now, I can't remember what Amber talks about.  I've watched this thing 4 times now.  Can't get enough.
