Re: Life Unexpected

I watched the pilot episode on some stream website yesterday. The show looks really cool. What sucks is that I didn't get to see that earlier and the other episodes don't seem to work. I've been trying to see the second ep for hours. I guess I'm not supposed to get into this further ....

Re: Life Unexpected

Guess what show I am suppose to start on on Monday.  It is apparently only for 2 months (filling a hole in my schedule, while someone is away for 2 months).  I am suppose to start on episode 4, am going to spend the weekend getting to know the show.

Re: Life Unexpected

That is wonderful!  It's not genius or anything, but it's a sweet little show. It sucks you in and no matter how stupid the characters act sometimes, you can't help loving them.  Yay, Rick!  big_smile

Re: Life Unexpected

That's great news, Rick!

Spoilers for 2x01 to follow:
I have a little bit of a love/hate relationship with the show. I love it because I really enjoy watching it, but I hate that it's so predictable and cliché sometimes. I mean... is it just me or is it super obvious that these two new women (Ryan's new co-host and the elusive Julia) were just brought in to put a wedge between Ryan and Cate? Feels more like a plot device than the wish to introduce new characters. Have I mentioned that I don't like Shaun Sipos? Can't say I'm excited to see him introduced as another new character. I hope the thing with him and Lux doesn't go further. And how much coincidence can it be that Baze sleeps with Ryan's sister, and she puts the bar on fire? Seriously. Something I think they stretch the credibility of the show. That said, I can't wait to see the new episode next week. smile

Yeah, I agree that sometimes they go for the most obvious conflicts.  You know that's a pet peeve of mine.  Still, I'm somehow drawn to these irritating people.  I can't let go.  LOL!

Re: Life Unexpected

I know how you feel. Even though the predictability is quite prominent sometimes, I always wanna go back a week later and watch the next episode. I have a very soft spot for Baze, even though he's probably the biggest idiot of all. tongue

Did I mention that I watched the Roswell episode the other day that he was in? He didn't have any scenes with Shiri, though.

Re: Life Unexpected

Yeah, it was in the 3rd season. He played an old friend of Izzie's husband who came for a visit. He turned out to be this nosy reporter who was hunting for a good story to publish, so he got less lovable as the episode went on. But he did look quite snazzy. smile

Re: Life Unexpected

Last Tuesday's episode was the last one I will be working on (it was always a temp job) but next week I am supposed to start on Southland.  (I seem to be working on all of Deb's favorites...will Medium be next?)  Not sure, but it seems like I will be finishing out the season.  Now I need to see a few episodes...

Re: Life Unexpected

Well, LUX is done.  I loved the finale.  Some thought it was too trite and a little hokey.  I don't care.  If we'd had a wrap-up like that for JoA, we might feel better about it ending.

Looking back over the series, I'd say my favorite things were...

1. Every moment Kris Pohala was onscreen - he's serious back-up guy material.
2. Britt Robertson's effervescence - even when Lux was driving me crazy, I always found Britt's performance compelling.
3. Seeing Emma Caulfield in a role that was actually worthy of her for the first time since Buffy.
4. Gaining an appreciation for Kerr Smith.  Finally.
5. Just the over-all oddness of the series, and never being sure where it was gonna go any given week.

I have no sound at work, so I don't know if this song is any good, but I'll leave you with a gift from KP...

Great song. Didn't know Kris Polaha was a music kinda guy, but I love it!

I finally watched the finale too, and I have mixed feelings about the show. At some point in season two, I was ready to give up on it. I think it was around the time when they introduced Emma's son. Because I was getting sick of all the love triangle/jealousy drama. It was getting a bit too much. But I liked it better again towards the end of the season.

Also, through this show, I discovered that I just really, really, really don't like Shaun Sipos. (Also, didn't a certain someone once tell us that he's kind of a jerk to his mom?) The whole Lux/Eric storyline felt so wrong from the get-go (in a TV writing rather than moral kind of way). I hated it. And I'm glad they split Lux and Eric up. The epilogue was sweet. Baze + Cate = love. Literally.

Kris Polaha = major sweetness. For me, he was the best thing about the show. 'Nuff said.
Kerr Smith... Hm, not so much. Can't even say why, but he didn't earn a lot of brownie points in my book.

And while we're talking about backup guys... La la la la la la

Re: Life Unexpected

That was a different kid you're thinking of.  It was Shawn Pyfrom who let his mother become homeless while he was making big bucks on Desperate Housewives.  I really don't know anything about this Shaun Sipos dude.  I'd never seen him before LUX, that I know of.  I didn't care for him either and I totally HATED that storyline too!  I guess for me, S1 was all about Lux and S2 was all about Baze.  And in the end, I was happy with it.
