LOL. I understand that. That's why our group was so pumped to take part in this production since we are huge SW fans.
When Fanboys was 1st presented to us, it sounded more like a small, fanfilm---a cool idea that we would help with over a weekend or two....but when we started hearing more about it and who was affiliated with it, we were all shocked and couldn't wait to see what would happen.
Hearing that it had so much success at the Celebration in Europe was an extra plus.
Being an extra in the movie with fellow fans/friends was an unforgetable experience, but I am seriously one of the nerdiest people you will ever meet and in no way deserving of praise.:embarrassed:
I just love sharing my experiences with people and I am so happy that I have been able to create new friendships with you guys in the process. big_smile

Aww shucks guys. You're giving me far too much credit. :embarrassed:
Basically what happened is our Fan Force group here in Albuquerque was approched by the 'makers' of the film.  They had asked for assistance in using costumes, armor, props, toys, etc in the film since this was going to be a very low budget film and they would not be able to supply it all on their own. Members loaned out their Star Wars items, ranging from action figures to full blown replica costumes. All those helmets you see in the "Fanboys" pic that Teejay 'edited' are from members of Mos Alba and the 501st. Our club as well as friends and family were given the opportunity to take part in the filming of the theater scene which you will see towards the end of the film. I wore my Stormtrooper armor in that scene, as well as Ken. There's also a dream sequence which incorporates Stormtroopers and a Boba Fett, all worn by our members.
A lot of us were also cast as Trekkies/Trekkers since the local Star Trek club was not interested in making fun of themselves. big_smile . We took part in scenes at a local casino(Santa Ana) and up in Las Vegas, NM.
Other members were cast in other positions too. A THX1138  guard, stand-ins for the actors, prop making, costume making, etc...
Me and a few other members were posting about our experiences on IMDB when I saw Deb inquire about Chris. I was pretty pumped up about our involvement and had a few stories to share so I joined the CM site.

Before filming actually began, Ken had a birthday party at his house for another member and during this party, he received word that the cast and crew were actually gonna stop by to say HI. Sure enough, Kyle, Matt, Kristen, Chris, Sam, Dan, Jay, etc....all come walking through the door about 30 mins later. We all chit chatted for awhile and ended up taking group pics with the cast which is where that pic in my sig came from.
I mentioned in a previous post that I'm gonna spend the entire movie, the first time I see it, saying Hey there's Me! There's Ken, there's Scott's Fett suit, etc...:D
Everyone from the group that took part has their own special memories, but mine would have to be that party at Ken's house and then being invited to Sam Huntington's B-day party on the last day of filming. That was so much fun. He even had a Darth Vader cake.
Another special memory was being allowed to visit the set, where we got to see the Kirk/Kahn statue being constructed, got to hang out in the Trash Compactor, and also hang out in the Hotel Rooms and Lucas' Prop room(Which was still a work in progress).
After filming, we were allowed to take parts of the sets, with the Set Director's permission which was pretty fun. I took a few random things here and there, while other's grabbed the door to the Trash Compactor, someone else got the sliding doors to the prop room that you see Dan jumping through in the trailer, etc. I'm trying to go through storage so I can post some pics of the props I got. In due time I guess.
Well, I'm totally rambling--haha.
There's a ton of other stories that could be told
but I hope this helps summarize the fan force's involvement in the movie.
I remember awhile back that one of our members, Joe, received an email from one of the producers saying that the group was  invited to the premiere in LA(Or maybe they were asking if the group was gonna be able to make it)---back when it was supposed to be released this year. April I think? If this still stands, then it looks like the premiere will indeed take place in L.A.. We will more than likely do something special here in Alb for the release as well, since we are beyond excited to see this.
I'm not really an expert on the movie since I was only an extra, but I did read the script, took my own pics of the experience as well as was given pictures from the filming, and had some interaction with the cast and crew, but I try my best to answer any questions you guys may have based on my experiences and what people share with me. It's been a fun ride.
oh, and for the moment, the release date is still 1-18-08. wink

Cool, thanks! I was gonna say that I sent out invites and hoped you guy's were okay with that.
I like your layout Deb-very different from what I'm used to seeing.

I used to have a ton of VHS as well but I garaged sale'd them and made a nice chunk of change off them.  big_smile
3000 is a lot Deb! Those things take up so much room, where do ya keep them?

#255 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Post your DVD Collection » 31 Aug 07 :: 05:30

I currently have 2,203 DVD titles. I used to use one of those DVD tracker lists, which are pretty cool, but I fell behind on updating it and now just have my list on an EXCEL spreadsheet. big_smile

Hey Anne,
You can go into your account settings and make it to where bands can't invite you. You can also set it up to where someone has to know your last name or email address in order to send a friend request. This might not be a cure-all but will definitely cut back on those annoying invites. smile

#257 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 29 Aug 07 :: 07:33

He's actually emailed me on myspace awhile back after I saw him at C4. I haven't seen the pics yet, I'll have to go check them out.

#259 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 23 Aug 07 :: 08:15

Thank goodness for DVD because I can finally watch Buffy and Angel! -I'm on seasons 5 and 3 respectively there.

#262 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 19 Aug 07 :: 22:09

Very cool Tina. Thanks for the offer.
I'll know later on this evening when I'm around a computer with sound. Hehe.

#263 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 19 Aug 07 :: 22:03

That's cool that you got to listen to it. I was hoping he would be able to say more about Fanboys, but I guess they were trying to stay on topic...that stinks. tongue
Yea, Both Ken and I are members of the 501st as well as a handful of other people who were in the film. I'm kinda interested to hear what they had to say...I'll have to check it out tonight if it's available for download.

I'm not positive but I think that's when they were doing the Java the Hutt scene. Yea, that's Kristen's red chair there, Awesome huh? lol
The chair's actually said "Jedi Knight Marquette", "Jedi Knight Fogler", etc...so that just might be the right chair for Chris. wink

#265 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 19 Aug 07 :: 11:40

I got this email tonight from Christian Macht who just released a SW DVD titled The Force Among Us(TFAU)-He does an internet talk show that will be live tomorrow. Probably not the type of subject matter that would be appealing to you guys, other than the fact that Kyle Newman will be a guest. big_smile

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JUST WANT TO REMIND EVERYONE ABOUT THE FORCE AMONG LIVE! - EPISODE III TOMORROW!
KYLE NEWMAN (DIRECTOR OF FANBOYS) WILL JOIN US ALONG WITH THE 501ST!
follow this link to get in on the show (its sunday at noon central
time)http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/ta … 926&cmd=tc
here is the official pressrelease:
The Force Among Us - Live is an interactive show on TalkShoe that allows fans of the highly anticipated documentary film to speak directly to the Cast, Crew and now, just confirmed for Sunday's show, director of Fanboys,Kyle Newman.
TFAUL Episode 3, "The 501st: Old School vs. New School" will be this Sunday,
August 19th, 1:00PM EDT at http://show.tfau.net. If you are a member, SW
costuming fan, or would love to hear how Kyle Newman feels about the 501st,
join us. This will not be a Jerry Springer screaming match, but a chance for
Old Schoolers and New Schoolers to discuss how the 501st has changed over the years, good and bad. Cris Macht, TFAU director, has spent his pre, mid and post-production budget to make sure that the 501st had a large section of the movie. He feels that the 501st has a special place in Star Warsfandom, but also realizes that there is controversy within the 501st and outsider SW costumed fans, as well. This show will give both sides a chance to voice their views. Don't miss this once in a lifetime event.
Will it never end?!?  Hollywood makes me sick sometimes with this remake crap.  How the bleedin' hell do you remake a Bruce Lee movie without Bruce Lee?  The whole point of a Bruce Lee movie is BRUCE LEE.  This is f'ing ridiculous!
Are you kidding me?? Okay, I was alright with "The Dragon" because that was made as a loose biography of Lee---but a remake? I don't care who you get to play Bruce Lee, this is just a horrible idea all around!!
#267 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 17 Aug 07 :: 18:47
Me neither! My computer at work doesn't have sound, so I'll have to wait until tonight to check that out.
#268 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 17 Aug 07 :: 17:34
I wish I could break away but I have the lil guy all weekend...which isn't a bad thing. I'm just curious if the trailer is going to be the one we've been seeing since what...Nov 2006? Yowza!!
