The other day, I was bored so I watched FOUR movies via Netflix "streaming" video.
"Food, Inc." is quite depressing and almost makes one want to become a vegetarian. There are a few scenes of animal abuse that are very disturbing.
"Combat Shock" is also very disturbing; a look at an unemployable Vietnam vet and how he can't cope with living in a really ghastly looking New York, circa 1986. It was actually made in 1986, and is a quite ghastly piece of work. Avoid it.
"The Gits Movie" is a documentary about the band called the Gits (I had never heard of 'em prior to watching this) and the horrific rape/murder of their lead singer. Depressing, but worth a look.
"Special" is a very strange little film about an oddball guy who thinks that he's a superhero. Also worth a look.
I would have to say that staring at a computer for close to six hours is probably not good for the eyes.
She was changed by what happened to Mia.
I would imagine so. The guy that raped and killed Mia looks like a real weasel.
Know all about it but haven't seen it yet. Joan Jett's in it.
She cried in it. I'd never seen her cry before.
I had never heard of the band called The Gits, but watched a documentary about them today.
The singer in the band, called Mia Zapata, was murdered in July of 1993.
The film is about the band, their inception, and the tragedy that ended the band.
Its well worth looking for, and, if you have Netflix, you can watch it online, like I did.
About the worst thing similar to this that I ever did was write something rude about an office manager who made me redundant. I wrote it on a bathroom wall, though.
I take it that the Republicans need a respite from being arseholes.
Oone letter was sent at the end of December and they were hoping it would die down. Another appeared the beginning of this month. We had an all staff meeting where it was said that everyone will be interviewed and after two more letters appeared yesterday, it's become an official police investigation.
Get Robbie Coltrane on the case
I have to admit that I'm only half-watching the State of the Union address (while listening to jazz on the 'puter), but its really galling to see the tight-ass Repugs sitting on their hands rather than acknowledge President Obama.
The Republicans suck.
I didn't know that Mykelti Williamson was in High School.
Best of luck, Samsy.
I made a boo-boo, the remake of TimeCrimes won't be out until 2011.
This is one of the director's nifty short films:
Last year, two of my Netflix favourites were the goofy time travel film "TimeCrimes," and the spectacular vampire tale "Let The Right One In".
This year, remakes of both of them will be coming out.
You should see both the originals first, "Let The Right One In," in particular, is amazing.

The first guy (Wells) seemed to like Dakota Fanning's performance a tad less than the second guy, who is more of a fanboy type.
I have it on TiVo, I think, so I will get around to watching it, eventually.
The magnificent, beautiful Elaine Hendix played the Physics Teacher Ms. Lischak on JoA. She's on the left. That's Lisa Ann Walter with her. I'd love to interview her too. Maybe I'll get up the nerve to ask her one day.
My older brother is a big fan of Ms Hendrix.
Lischak gone wild...

Who are they ??
Facebook suggested Jason Ritter to me as a friend, so I figured what the hell. I told him about the site and our little JoA reunion and asked him to friend me. Maybe he will and someday, someday... I can interview him too. How effin' cool would that be???
That would be fuckin' cool.
Monday 25 January on SyFy.
She played Katee Sackoff's sister.
This show looks kinda good; I'll be watching it, methinks.
It looks like they have switched JoA to Mondays, but they're airing the last three or four episodes again. I have to check the TiVo to be sure.
I have to amend this. It looks like SyFy will be airing JoA every Friday at 5AM.
That is 3AM in Arizona, so the TiVo will be busy at that time
I thought that it was interesting how, in the pilot episode, Joan had a couple of "Valley Girl" type pals.
Of course she was nicknamed Lucyfer by TWoP, which I always thought was both hilarious and appropriate. Actually, I always looked at her as a "temptation" for Will. I love Lilly and Helens discussion about "evil" as it related to Lucyfer.
"Lucyfer" reminds me of the book "Falling Angel," kinda. I didn't realize who the character "Louis Cyphre" (played by DeNiro in the film version) was until the very end. I am not too swift at times.
