Since he is the subject of the board I should say something about Chris

Favorite Adam moment is when Helen reads Adam's Mom's letter in "Jump".  It probably would have been a wonderful scene anyway, but what makes it amazing is Chris's performance.  Watching his face in that scene you can see the intense pain of his loss, and the joy of the knowledge that he was not only not responsible for his mother's death, but he actually gave her, her only happiness.  You can see both emotions at the same time.  Actors rarely accomplish such a moment.

I wondered the same thing.  My guess is that God is not taking over someone's body for two reasons.  First, whenever Joan sees one of the avatar forms she knows, it is always God, she never went up to one and had it turn out to be a person who didn't know her.  The second reason is the whole free will thing.  If God were to take over someone (even for a couple of minutes) he would be taking away that person's free will for that time.  However, on the other side, I keep getting the image of these people disappearing, and that doesn't seem right either.

The idea that Adam was more aware of the avatar forms because of something special about him (that they were setting up for season 3) is really interesting, and definately works.  I'm going to have to think about that some more.

I loved all of those scenes.  And I could probably pick every scene from "Jump", because I think it is the best episode of the series.  One small moment which I really loved (probably because I have an 11 year old daughter) is in Book of Questions when Grace's father says to her "Today you are a woman...take care of my little girl".  But the scene I think I would have to choose is from "Silence".  I have to credit someone from the IMDB board who clued me in to the  meaning of the scene, The last scene, after Joan has decided there is no God, and she goes to sleep.  Then God walks in, and gently touches her head.  Even if we deny God, he is still with us and cares about us. Wow.

Thanks for the kind words.

The beauty of the show is that it brought so many ideas and concepts and emotions, that it can actually be discussed and debated.  I've been looking for a place to talk about it, so thanks to all of you for providing the opportunity.

So many things to talk about in this thread.  The interesting thing thing about the forms God took in the show to me, was how many of them were the people we commonly overlook in life.  A cleaning woman, cafeteria worker, repair person...even children and old people.  I always wondered if they were saying something in that.  I attributed Adam's awareness of the various God forms, to the fact that he was hyper aware of Joan.  When you are in love with someone, you notice everything about them (including who they are talking to).

There was another ripple to Joan's community service.  Mrs. G was having serious doubts about her teaching.  Then she overheard Adam talking to Bonnie about her as a teacher, and she realised that she was having an impact on the kids.

As to God being mean.  Remember God is constantly reminding Joan that we have free will.  God did not make Adam cheat.  Adam did it.  God can see all of the possible ways things can come out, but in the end, our choices are what decides the outcomes.  God gives Joan tasks, which can lead to the world being better, but her choices still are the final determining factors.  I thing God put Adam together with Bonnie, because she needed a friend who could understand her.  Yes, there was a temptation there, but if he had just been the friend he should have been, his whole life would have been better.

One final note to this rant, I agree they shouldn't have had Adam cheat.  It felt out of character.
