We've been using the Jason Ritter on Parenthood thread, but this is cool too. Especially if we end up liking the show. I saw this live last night. Jason was really funny. I loved his dance!

So, who's watched the pilot? Whoa, what a wild ride. I have a feeling I'm gonna like this show. I certainly loved the first episode, and Jason was great.

I enjoyed it. Love is strong word. I'm gonna hold back the lovin' till I've seen a few more eps, but Kate and I certainly had fun watching the first one.

I guess we'll have to see how they keep developing the storyline over the next few episodes. I have no idea if they have a full season deal or just a 10 episode initial deal, or something else entirely. Right now, I'm cautiously optimistic that it won't suffer the same fate FlashForward did, because somehow The Event reminds me a little of FF. The pilot felt like a little action movie, they surely had the suspense going. Definitely made me crave for more.

I'm sure they'll get a full season. Word is that Nick Wauters (creator) sold a 5 Year series to NBC. That doesn't mean they couldn't cancel it if it tanks, but it does mean that they will put everything they have behind it to try to make it a success. The ratings for the first ep were really good. It's definitely promising. I just hope they're not going to be jumping around in time constantly. That kinda bugged me.

Good news. Yesterday, NBC announced that the 13-week trial run of The Event has been extended to a whole season. It's not exactly a breakout hit, but it's dong very respectably in the ratings.

In the last episode, they kinda explained what "the event" was. I've actually already forgotten what exactly it said. Hang on, I think I posted it on Deb's Facebook wall at some point.

Simon (one of the aliens) starts to explain it to Sean (Jason's character): "Sean, what you need to know is, our people were here before. We were here first. This place was our home before it was yours. [...] my people believe that if we stay here, something will happen. To all of us. We call it The Event. It's a rebirth. The next step for our people. We'll change, evolve... into something else. Something greater. But your people won't survive it."
In the end, Sophia ends up bringing their planet into Earth's orbit. And she explains to President Martinez that humankind will basically be slaughtered by her people to make room for the 2 billion aliens that need Earth as their new home. Awesome.
