New Shows 2011

What do you like/dislike so far?

I like:
2 Broke Girls - Kat Dennings is too cool.
The New Girl - Zooey is funny, but I wish the guys were more interesting.
A Gifted Man - I watched because of Margo Martindale.  The story is good.  Kinda reminds me of Eli Stone a little, though less quirky.

I love:
Person of Interest - Jesus Caviezel, sorry, Jim is so cool as the tortured hero and I love Taraji P. Henson.

I dislike:
Free Agents - Tony Head and Hank Azaria deserve better.
Terra Nova - Zzzzzzzzzzz.  Hey, I tried.  I still don't know why they went back to dino times, other than for thrills and plot devices.

Discuss....

Re: New Shows 2011

So far the one worth watching for me is A Gifted Man.  I will keep watching ringer and person of interest because of the actors involved.   But I think A Gifted Man really has it for the pilots so far in my opinion.  I have a lot recorded still I haven't gotten to yet.  The secret circle, two broke girls, up all night, terra nova, there seems to be a bunch this year that actually look decent.  I did enjoy 'Revenge." Good guilty pleasure show.  Feels like the OC meets Desperate Housewives.  And it has my man nick wechsler who played my favorite character Kyle in Roswell smile  So glad to see him finally back on tv.  Its gotten decent reviews so far.

Up All Night looks like a hit, but it didn't hook me.

Re: New Shows 2011

I watched:
Unforgettable - liked it a lot
Ringer - ditto
Person of Interest - didn't like it a lot, will not keep watching

I have yet to watch:
A Gifted Man
Terra Nova

Out of the summer shows this year, I thought Suits was excellent. I also watched Necessary Roughness, but Suits really was the better first season show I tried out this summer Of course White Collar, The Glades and Rizzoli & Isles are also still on my lits.

Re: New Shows 2011

I like Ringer and Secret circle enough to give them some room to proof themselves. I'm so sick of family sitcoms, I won't even give those a chance. especially Up all night. I feel like I know all about it after I read only one sentence from the synopsis. if anything else is any good, point me to it.

Re: New Shows 2011

Watched Terra Nova - liked it decently.  Wasn't spectacular but I'll give it another watch.  Somehow reminded me a lot of Firefly.

Didn't get into Pan Am.  Just moving a little slow and a bit too cheesy for me.  I like the concept though.

So far I like A Gifted Man, Up All Night and Revenge the best.  I'm still testing waters with Ringer and Persons of Interest.

Re: New Shows 2011

I liked Terra Nova too, but not overly so. I will keep watching just to see what happens. It constantly reminded me of Avatar, only that they went back in time instead of to another planet. Didn't help that Stephen Lang plays the head honcho in both.

As to why they went back to dinosaur time, I think that's just the way this time rift worked. When it opened up, they didn't know where and when it would lead to. It's not like they can control to what time it leads, it just does. They sent that probe through that the daughter explains at some point, hoping to find it again in the future (or present, as it were) to examine the data it collected. And when they didn't find it, they realized the rift went to what they call another time stream. I guess it's kinda like an alternative universe. That's how they got round that tricky thing with the "changing history" paradox.

Also, I hope the show doesn't end up in man vs. (very CGI-looking) dinosaur fights in every episode. Cause I'm gonna get real bored with that real fast.

Other than that, I still gonna stick with A Gifted Man, Ringer and Unforgettable.

Re: New Shows 2011

I think that's all you're gonna get out of Terra Nova.  And I really don't like Stephen Lang, so that's a big drawback right there.

I was just as impressed with the second ep of A Gifted Man as I was by the pilot.  It's got real potential.  I especially wanna see Margo Martindale's assistant character don her nurse's garb and help out at the clinic.

Ep three of 2 Broke Girls aired last night and I really love this show.  It's sassy and sweet at the same time.

Re: New Shows 2011

Gee, Playboy Club got cancelled, what a surprise. (who exactly was the target audience??)

From everything I'm hearing, don't fall in love with Terra Nova.  The numbers it will need to stay on the air are staggering.  So, I don't see much chance of it lasting more than one season at most.

Amazingly, I still haven't seen any of the new shows.  (although I have gotten into the habit of waiting until the whole season comes out on DVD or streaming, and then watching the whole season in about a week).

Re: New Shows 2011

How many times did Playboy Club air?  Twice?  I think the audience was supposed to be made up of people who think Mad Men is too hard to follow and the three people on planet earth who still like Eddie Cibrian.

Re: New Shows 2011

I've added 2 broke girls and A Gifted man on my list. big_smile Liking them episode or two at a time but they're not "marathon" material. gets kinda annoying and all the obvious fails jump at me after more eps.

I made a big list of shows that I'm currently watching or am interested to check out some time in the future. lots of newbies on it but some older ones too. I'll try to remember to tell you what I thought if I check out any of the newbies.

Playboy Club has only like 4 episodes and getting cancelled. My dad watched it, he likes it. I might watch it online only because of Amber Heard though,

Re: New Shows 2011

I'm ashamed to admit that I actually like Secret Circle.  I watched the second episode of Terra Nova and sadly didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped.  Same actually with a Gifted Man, but I'll give it a few more tries because I like the plot a lot.  I did like Persons of Interest and Up All Night for the second time though.  I'm glad they took out the bleeping in Up All Night.  That annoyed me in the first episode.

Re: New Shows 2011

I might like Secret Circle because I think Britt is great.  Haven't seen it yet though, nor have I seen Ringer.

So far, I would say I love 2 Broke Girls the most and A Gifted Man is my second favorite.

Re: New Shows 2011

I didn't know wether to post this on the Co-stars thread or here, but here it goes. I've been watching Hart of Dixie this week. Jamie King aka mrs Kyle Newman is playing one of the bigger roles. I can not believe this woman was born 1979. I've been trying to pinpoint her characters age and my guesses are all between 18 and 25. That is one well preseved woman. Kyle must have her sleeping in a tub of picklejuice. big_smile

The show itself is very great, btw. I <3 Rachel Bilson. and the plots are good and the acting and directing is great. big_smile The latest episode was HAAAAWT! wink

Re: New Shows 2011

I actually really liked Once Upon A Time on abc.  Some of the fairy tale aspects are a bit cheesy but Jennifer Morrison is great in it and I enjoyed the present day premise more than the fairy tale premise.  I'll definitely keep watching.

I tried 'Grimm.' and I'll give it a few more episodes, but it seems to not be fitting together right.

Re: New Shows 2011

I checked out Once upon a time and Grimm. I'm thinking I'll get a little overdozed on fairytales if I keep up, but they're pretty watchable. I can't help thinking Grimm is inspired by that one episode of Supernatural. wink
