The Napkin (a short film by Aaron Himelstein)

Aaron directed this one.  It's just a short, and it may take us a while to see it.  But those guys are so awesome together, I get excited when they do something. big_smile

Re: The Napkin (a short film by Aaron Himelstein)

I spent an hour yesterday trying to find this online, but no luck. of course. someone should convince these boys to put up a Youtube account and post their shorts there. there are a lot of people making money out of the ad deals of youtube and making a name for themselves. *winkwink* just as Kaleb Nation, Dave Days, Smash! etc. or that eastern european chick that posts a reply video to every popular music video just so she gets people to think it's her singing the song and click it. all so that she could get ad money.

It's probably not ready for release yet.  And since their last couple of things did make it to YouTube, maybe this one will too.

I love that idea. LOL We should send them a list with the stuff we want to see that day. Maybe Aaron would even include that Fellowship thing for us. big_smile

Re: The Napkin (a short film by Aaron Himelstein)

Check it out, guys.  Aaron posted this on Facebook...

Saturday, May 11, 2013
6:30pm in PDT
1139 S. Hill Street Los Angeles, CA 90015 AT&T Center

Hope you are all wondering what to do with your second Saturday in May...today.

THE NAPKIN, a short film I wrote and directed will be screening on SAT, MAY 11th as part of the NEW FILMMAKERS LOS ANGELES screening series at the AT&T center downtown. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out the trailer at http://www.newfilmmakersla.com/.

Also, we won ‘best of fest’ at the SANTA MONICA FILM FESTIVAL in December so at least you know it won’t be a total piece of garbage.

To those of you who have already seen the film online, this is the last local screening we’ll be having so please come check it out in a packed house on the big screen. Pre party and after party with open bar for the price of admission: 6 bucks!

I was away in New York for all of our LA screenings except one so this is a big night for me.

Can't wait to see you all there!

But tickets online for program 2 here! http://www.newfilmmakersla.com/tickets.html

Complimentary parking:
1133 S. OLIVE street
Los Angeles, CA 90015

Pre-Reception @ 6:30

Screening @ 7:35

Q & A @ 8:30

After party @ 9!

Thank you for your support!

Maria found the film online.  It a little over 15 minutes long.  Really terrific.

Re: The Napkin (a short film by Aaron Himelstein)

I thought it was kinda weird. I mean, I liked it, but it's not something I'd say is fantastic. (Maybe also to do with the fact that Chris plays kind of a dick.) I liked Thule much, much better.

I'm still trying to gather what the point of it was. Don't get paranoid about something until you've explored all the options and taken a good look?

Re: The Napkin (a short film by Aaron Himelstein)

I think the point of it was that the main guy, Robin was so wound up with worry all the time, he was letting life pass him by.  With his dad having just died, he really needed to learn to snap out of it and try to enjoy living instead of being so scared of everything.

Also, it had the structure of a really good little short story with a cute little twist at the end.  That's what I liked.  I didn't care much for Chris's jerk character.  But he did look awfully adorable when he snagged Robin's cap & glasses and put them on.  I'd like to see screencaps of that part.  tongue

I noticed they dedicated the film to John Robinson's dad, who had recently passed away.  So I suspect it was a very personal story for Aaron & John.  My main complaint is that I wish Aaron had played Robin instead of Dov, just because I miss seeing Aaron onscreen.

I liked that Jon Foster had a hand in all of the music.  And that Kris Lemche sang a song.  smile

Re: The Napkin (a short film by Aaron Himelstein)

Cool!  Off to check 'em out.  Been out all day.  Dave and I saw Iron Man 3.  When Dale Dickey showed up onscreen, I leaned over to Dave and said "I'm one degree from Iron Man, I've been in a room with her."  LOL!  She was in the play we saw Mike & Aaron in when the Dorquettes went to LA in 2008.  And then I saw Miguel Ferrer onscreen and said, "And I've had a beer with him."  That was at Dixie Trek in 1986.
