Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone here had any information about moving to the states from Canada? I have been thinking about it for a few months and really want to move to the states. I am going to look into seeing if a work transfer would work, visa wise, but I am not planning on moving until next spring so I have a lot of time to search around. I've looked into being a Nanny because I have decades of child experience but I am not sure I would want to be a live in and be stuck wherever they lived. Looking at California as the place I would want to check out - if you lived in Northern Ontario you would understand, lol. I also don't have a college degree and really don't want to go back to school, wait the at least 2 years through a program, be in debt again and then move.
Pretty much any help or information you guys could share would be appreciated. There are all different kinds of people on here with different careers and countries so I thought I could get some good feedback and info from you guys.
Thanks a bunch in advance.

I live less than 5 miles from where I was born. I'm gonna be no help at all on that one. Sorry.

I'm from Germany, so I don't have advice either. Sorry. Though from my point of view, I'd say you'd be crazy to more from Canada to the States. Think about healthcare, politics, gun law, all of the things that are wrong with the US (no offense).

I see your point Teejay. I agree Canada is awesome :-P I really want to try and get into the behind the scenes aspect of film though so I am trying to find a way there in the next year. I'm seriously considering taking the Nanny route and going from there. Maybe I can meet some people once I'm there who would be able to help me find an internship or something.

It depends on your age but getting a work visa can be difficult. If your studying abroad that's an easier visa to get. Check with internships at major companies and research the steps to take to move to America. Get in touch with the Canadian Embassy's website and see what steps it takes to move to another country. Good luck!

Thanks! I have thought of trying to apply for next fall to a school in the states. I never thought about talking to the Canadian Embassy though.
