Holy crap! They kept the song at the end on the DVD. That's shocking and wonderful. So many great moments in the ep. But that ending. Wow. Gets me every time.
ID up next. OK, so here we go into the really sad A/J eps...

Probably wasn't a published song to begin with. Somehow I get the feeling they didn't use any song in S2 that they would have had to pay for.

Yeah, me too. That hurts.

Um, all songs that are recorded are published. And this song is fairly well known in alt radio. It probably wasn't very expensive and that's why it stayed, but it's nowhere near as osbcure as the replacement songs. They also kept the song for the makeout scene in ID. I'm sure every decision they made was based on finacial considerations and not aesthectics.

Yeah, I thought so too. They just didn't care.

I liked this episode. It was typical high school. I've only had one boyfriend (who ended up being kind of a jerk since he cursed at me and lied a lot) but from what I've observed that's what some couples do; they test each other. It's like they're unsure about their relationship so they need to add rocks in front of them like some kind of obsticle.
I really loved that tutor guy. It was fun seeing him on this show since he had come out on Dawson's Creek years ago (which I used to enjoy watching.)
And loved the fantasy parts and how God would tell Joan about them and Joan would tell him to stay out of her fantasies since Joan felt like it was an invasion of privacy. I thought that was very cool because it goes to show that no matter what we try to do to hide from God, God always knows where we are. And he does know every single little thought even though sometimes it might feel as if no one is inside our minds other than us.
Can't really comment much on the music though as I was never introduced to the original stuff.

Eeewww, Roger is creepy! He's got no business macking on a 16-17 year old girl. None. I'm sure he was absolutely certain she was a virgin, too. Which makes it even creepier. Ever heard of jailbait, dude? Yuck!

I never liked that Roger guy. Brrr! <shudders>

Thank you. The first thought I had when he started hitting on Joan was, what is wrong with this guy. Creepy is a good word for him.
Joan: So, my true nature is to be a catalyst? That is mad anti-climatic.
God: Anti climactic. Anti-climatic means you're against the weather.

Creepy Roger. I agree. Never liked him either.

When Roger was first introduced, my friend gently said that he was a good guy and I shouldn't hate him. Of course, she'd yet to see Romancing the Joan and stayed relatively silent throughout the entire thing. I had an off feeling about Roger from the start. When he started talking to Joan with the "guys cheat because, girls cheat because" speech, I started yelling at Joan to pull out. Yes, yelling at a television. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Despite obvious reasons, I did enjoy watching this episode, especially when we saw Joan's fantasies (well, the first two, at least). And I have to say ... I love Stevie. She's adorable, in her own little way.
My life long dream is to somehow get Adam Rove into a puppy-suit. Until then, my imagination will have to tide me over.

The best part of that ep though is Adam and Joan at the end, the way they were framed with his sculpture so that they seemed to be part of it. That incredibly emotional kiss. Wow!
Made me cry the first time around. I still get teary when I watch it.

Yeah, that scene was ... wow. That's all you can describe it as. The kiss was extremely emotional without the two of them going into 'make-out mode'. Even though it would've been nice to see them truly 'find tongue', the way that they could be so emotional without doing so just goes to show how much chemistry they have together.
And, while I'm thinking about it, Adam's "I hate perky, this you know" line killed me the first time I saw it (heck, the entire scene from the day dream on killed me).

Yeah, I love everything about the ep except the scenes with Roger The Perv. And I also wish we'd gotten to see A/J make-out. It was always a tiny bit chaste for my taste. I mean you really felt the emotional connection, but I always thought they were being too coy with the physical aspect of Joan and Adam's relationship. My theory as that they were afraid of sexualizing God's girl. People in middle America might complain. I really wonder, if the show had lasted, say five seasons, when would they have allowed Joan to lose her virginity?

I really don't know. I mean, I would think they'd have had Joan be the model teenager, with the "save sex 'til marriage" philosophy (which I am totally fine with). I also wish we'd have seen something besides Independence Day where Joan and Adam made-out. I mean, they definately found some tongue there (if only it stayed at that level ). They probably were afraid of people back-lashing though. Honestly, though, what would you expect in a show like this at the time it was on? There was bound to be some sort of negative blow-back. My brother and I often say that Joan of Arcadia was a show before it's time.

If I had to pick the best Adam/Joan kiss, the one from RTJ would be it. I love that scene. So beautiful. Used to have that as a wallpaper for a while. But, yeah, somehow Adam and Joan never found the secret to French kissing until Independence Day, did they?
For the record, I liked Stevie too. Especially after she admitted to having the hots for Friedman. I never saw anything going on between Adam and her. Roger was just plain creepy. Stevie was cute in her own way.
