Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Maybe these extras were announced before Universal decided to give us a barebone DVD and someone had inside info and went from there. Go ahead and PM Nick or Matt about it if you like.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

GimmeKitty posted about this on the IMDB message board, here is my response.

Highly doubt that.

There are a couple of things to look at.

1. The front cover art is completely different than the U.S. DVD cover.
2. The phone number listed is not how phone numbers are done in the U.S.
3. There is no UPC# on the back cover.
4. The extras differ from the officially announced extras as found in the press release or on Universal's home video site.
5. This was found on http://www.cdcovers.cc/search/all/alpha-dog , where people can upload covers - even fake ones.

My assumption is that this is either a fan created cover or a cover of a bootleg. Perhaps the extras listed on the back cover are there to get people to buy the DVD and of course they aren't even on the DVD at all. Likely all that would be on the DVD is the movie itself.

I agree that the extras listed seem a little to specific, but again someone could have just looked at the credits of the film and come up with them.

Seems like an awful lot of trouble to go to for a fake, but you never know.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Just thought I'd chime in and show where Alpha Dog sits on the Amazon.com sales chart.

This is what I posted on IMDB:

20.
Alpha Dog (Widescreen Edition)

That is ahead of other releases, such as:

    21.
Melrose Place - The Second Season

    22.
    Happily N'ever After (Widescreen Edition)

    29.
What I Like About You - The Complete First Season

    30.
Alpha Dog (HD DVD and Standard DVD Combo)

    33.
The Hitcher (Combo HD DVD and Standard DVD) (2007)

    36.
An Officer and a Gentleman (Special Collector's Edition)

    41.
    The Hitcher (Full Screen Edition)

    44.
    The Hitcher (Widescreen Edition)

    46.
    Alpha Dog (Full Screen Edition)

It's nice to see it do so well
It's also nice to see that the Widescreen version is far outselling the Full Screen version too.
It's also nice to see it outsell The Hitcher as well, which I remember a certain person on IMDB said would do better then AD.

So far no reviews of the DVD yet that I could find.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Well, it's nice to hear that so many people like to buy the DVD, but I still wish they'd release another edition with more extras. Maybe they will if it sells enough.

Oh, and someone called Chris in Alpha Dog Baby!Snape (as in a young version of Harry Potter's Severus Snape, played by Alan Rickman). One of my favorite evil characters, actually. And this person is kinda right. With that fright wig, Keith looks a little like the baby version of Snape. smile They linked to our gallery. Read for yourselves:

Now that you said it ... you're right, there is a similarity with that wig. LOL
(I just doubt Snape would have that tatoo on his chest. But, I mean, everything is possible. LOL big_smile

Did they have two of the wristbands for Ketih for the movie? Because I just found they're auctioning off another one on eBay:

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

That's strange. But they also sell Keith's silver chain and his driver's licence. Either they didn't sell it last time or they do indeed have second ones of them.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

It's identical to the one I have and it's the same seller, Premiere Props.  It's not unusual to have more than one set of any given piece of wardrobe.

So someone else could also be a Keeper Of Keith's Wristband.  Hope whoever buys it is also a big Chris fan!

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I just placed a bid on it.  Let's see how it goes.  If I get it, TeeJay, you will be the Co-Keeper OF Keith's Wristband.  You'll get one of your own.  Maybe you can wig Chris out by getting it autographed in London, just like mine!

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I'd actually much rather have the driving license. wink But I'd take the wristband as well. I just probably wouldn't wear it. But I guess it'd make a nice addition to my autograph and prop wall in the bedroom. Well, I placed a bid on the driving license just now. If I get it, can I have it shipped to you, Deb? I'm guessing shipping fees would be a killer otherwise.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Yeah, the driver's licence would be cool. But since I don't have money for this right now and am not able to buy from US Ebay, I have to let it go ... sad

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I just placed a $40 bid on it (which is kinda crazy, I know). I just really hopes no one is willing to pay more for it. Right now it's at $5.something, but it'll run for another day and a half. If I don't get it for that kind of money, it'll be unfortunate but fair enough. I'm not willing to pay more than what I bid in the first place, so...

Joke, you don't need to.

I bid on the license. No point in bidding for the wristband if Deb already placed a bid, is there?

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I got an outbid notice before I left home this morning.  Think I'll wait till closer to the end of the auction so I don't get in another bidding war like last time.  If we lose it, we lose it.  I just thought it would be hilarious if you showed up in London with the same exact prop as I had.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Here is the first review of the DVD that I could find. Not much info about the extras though.

http://www.moviehole.net/reviews/200704 … g_dvd.html

Alpha Dog (DVD)

Ben Foster, Shawn Hatosy, Emile Hirsch, Christopher Marquette, Sharon Stone, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Willis, Anton Yelchin, Harry Dean Stanton, Sharon Stone

It mightn't have as much Bark as it probably should've, but Nick Cassaevttes' cautionary tale "Alpha Dog" still embodies quite a bit of bite.

Featuring stand-out performances by a young ensemble including Justin Timberlake (yep, that Justin Timberlake!), Emile Hirsch and Anton Yelchin, the nail-biting drama fixes on a piece of recent American history: A time when a gang of hoodlums, owed money by another, kidnap the brother of the latter as ransom. Despite getting along well with their hostage, they ultimately decide to end his life – in what they believe, is their only chance of getting out of jail. Fools.

The first three-quarters of Cassevettes' film is very solid. All of the characters are fleshy and interesting, the storyline is captivating and the message rings loud and clear – don't play with fire if you don't wanna get burned. Then, in the film's last twenty-minutes (the important part of the movie in many ways), Cassevettes' lets the ball drop: his effects shots look terribly cheap; the choice is made to 'fatten' Sharon Stone's mother character (she plays the mother of the kidnapped kid) to the size of Norbit (to much amusement), and most notably, the punch that the film should entail never really comes.

Still, "Alpha Dog" isn't half as bad as many critics have made it out to be it's actually quite a well-done piece. Also a great show reel for the abovementioned Timberlake.

DVD extras include an entertaining but too-short making-of and a witness timeline (text) of the events.
