Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Some say that Alpha Dog is similar to the movie Brick.

Circuit City has it on sale starting this Sunday for just under $4.00.

Is the movie any good? Is it worth buying sight unseen?

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I loved it, Illinois.  It's definitely worth $4.  Joseph Gordon Levitt is really wonderful in it.  So is Lukas Haas.  It's really weird.  You might have to watch it more than once since the dialog is very stylized, but it's worth it.

Ah, cool. I can't make anything on my computer for some reason.:(

I'm trying to convince my mom to get a Mac. At least i could make videos and stuff. I can't even get my WWM to put songs or videos on it. So my Youtube videos are all trailers I've downloaded.

TeeJay's got some kind of magic German machines that she can do anything with.  Me, I don't know much.  Just how to get by.  She's always making banners and avs and wallys.  They're great.  big_smile

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Well, TeeJay is a computer nerd and has been for over ten years. She knows what her machine can do. And I don't even have the newest stuff. My desktop computer (Neo) is an upgraded AMD 1.4 GHz machine. It still has a 32x CD ROM as one of its drives that can't even play DVDs (the other is a DVD burner, though). But it's got what I need. Neo's been very good. smile

I get that people don't really have the patience and skill to know as much as I do. And even I don't know everything about computers.

Macs are way cool, though. The new MacBook Pro is fantastic. What I love about it is that since it uses an Intel chip, you can run Windows and Mac OS in parallel on it. If my laptop ever breaks, I'm gonna save up enough money to get a MacBook.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Just got back from Circuit City.

I had to dig through the bin, they only had 2 copies of Brick. So I picked up 1. I also picked up Field of Dreams, Rain Man, Rat Race, General's Daughter and Kentucky Fried Movie.

I would have picked up the recent version of Peter Pan, but all they had was the full screen version, so I passed on that. Best Buy also has Peter Pan at that price so I may pick it up there later.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

You got Rat Race? I love that movie. I think it's hilarious. I remember seeing it in theaters. That's one of the few comedy's that my dad will actually want to sit down and watch through. I can't watch it much now, my DVD needs cleaning.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Sort of Alpha Dog related, news about costar being cast in next Star Trek film.

J.J. Abrams has cast Russian-born Anton Yelchin (Alpha Dog, Charlie Bartlett) as Pavel Chekov in Paramount Pictures' Star Trek. Chekov is the Russian-born navigator of the USS Enterprise under the command of James T. Kirk.

Yelchin will join Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy, who will both play the role of Mr. Spock. Casting is under way in New York and London for Kirk, Bones, Uhura, Sulu, Scotty, the film's villain and the Federation captain. Abrams, who will direct the untitled film, is expected to sign bigger-name actors for the latter two parts.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the story line is believed to chronicle the early days of the Enterprise crew during their time at Starfleet Academy.

Chekov was played by Walter Koenig on the original "Star Trek" TV series, and he is a key member of the Enterprise crew.

Abrams is producing the Christmas Day 2008 tentpole through his Paramount-based Bad Robot. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci wrote the screenplay and will executive produce along with Bryan Burk and Damon Lindelof.

No freakin' WAY! Anton is gonna be in the next ST movie?? yikes I would have watched it anyway, but now I will on the double. Thanks for those news!! That's great! Illinois, just FYI: Chris and Anton also starred together in a three episodes of Huff where Chris was a guest-star.

Anton and Zach in the same movie? Ok, where can i get a ticket?

I'm not really into Star trek, but I'm obsessed with Zachary Quinto.

And I like Anton, as well.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I was blown away by this movie! It was amazing!!!! The ending was shocking. The only part I didn't like was the fact that Chris wasn't in it as much as I thought he would be. He looks sooo sexy in it though!! Especially with his hair long like that!!!!! wink

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Oh, I agree. The movie blew me away too and I left the theater with a lot on my mind. I too would have liked it if Chris had had a little more screentime, but I think playing Keith, he was in the movie just enough for Nick to get across what he thought the character of Keith would bring to the movie. You are aware that it wasn't his own hair, though, right?

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

And there would've been more of him in the movie if some stuff hadn't been cut.  Like the scene on the hill with Elvis.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Yeah, it blowed me too. Even the German version, although the voice was really annoying. But I heard even other people said the dubbing was extremely bad on Alpha Dog. Oh, I wish they would redo it.

You'll get some of that yummy German chocolate I brought for Deb. smile Though the date is kinda wrong too, the movie's been pushed back to February 2008. Sound familiar?

Oh right, the name. I read Yechin automatically. LOL

Hey, you brought German chocolate with you to America? And what are you bringing for me? yikes
(Not that I want anything, but maybe can you have a look at the bookstores again, if the fourth Sisterhood book is available as a paperback? amazon doesn't show it though. It has to look like that, but somehow it's only available as hardcover. sad
