So I bought the Alpha Dog DVD today. They had a used one for $13, and I was ready to spend that much on a used copy of a movie I love but didn't really wanna buy because Universal did such a shitty job with the DVD. Universal didn't really make any money out of me buying this one used. So if we get that special DVD edition one of these years, then I guess I'm gonna buy that one too.
Anyway, I made us new screencaps:

Look at this. Very Matrix:

Just in case anyone is planning on buying Alpha Dog in the U.S., you may want to wait till September 4th. On that date it's supposed to be reduced in SRP (Suggested Retail Price). I have no idea as to what the new SRP will be, but I would assume under $20.

Hahaha. Matrix rocks!

As I noted earlier, the SRP of Alpha Dog is being lowered.
Found out that Best Buy will have it on sale for $9.99 beginning September 2 thru the 9th.

Dummie question: What does SRP mean? I can only assume that P means Price, but the rest ... :clueless:

Suggested Retail Price. In German: Unverbindliche Preisempfehlung. IllinoisGuy mentioned it up here: http://www.chris-marquette.com/forum/vi … 499#p14499

(Not that I want anything, but maybe can you have a look at the bookstores again, if the fourth Sisterhood book is available as a paperback? amazon doesn't show it though. It has to look like that, but somehow it's only available as hardcover.
Paperback doesn't appear to be out yet, but I got you the hardcover. Hope that was okay.

Hey, here is something funny: I am currently listening to an Irish radio station online and there was just a commerical for the Alpha Dog DVD!

The only other connection I know between AD and The Notebook is that Shawn Hatosy and Heather Wahlquist are in both movies. Oh, and I think Matt Barry cast them both. And then of course there's the whole thing about Chris saying, "Dude, The Notebook is soooooo gay," in Just Friends. Other than that, I'm stumped and I've seen AD 6 times and The Notebook twice.
Can you be a little more specific, CamaroMoon? Something to do with the story? Or something behind the scenes?

I finally found the DVD sales figures for the US release of Alpha Dog.
It stayed in the top 30 for 3 weeks. The total sales are only for those 3 weeks, so it likely went up a little since the end of May.
http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/2007/ … isplay=dvd
Date Rank Units this Week % Change Total Units Sales this Week Total Sales Weeks in Release
5/6/2007 6 177,414 -.-% 177,414 $3,191,678 $3,191,678 1
5/13/2007 10 85,348 -51.9% 262,762 $1,535,411 $4,727,088 2
5/20/2007 24 47,914 -43.9% 310,676 $814,059 $5,541,147 3
So when you add the DVD sales of $5,541,147 to the total worldwide gross that boxofficemojo has up of $30,505,565 that brings it up to $36,046,712.
I'm not sure how much Universal makes from DVD Rentals, but boxofficemojo.com has up that it made $21.94 million from DVD rentals.
In any case, Alpha Dog has made at least a total of $57,986,712 and that's based on month's old data.

Thanks, Illinois. Sounds like a pretty decent take for a small movie.

Susan Markowitz posted this in answer to what she thought of the sentences the kids who killed her son received:
Regarding the person Chris played...
Graham Pressley- age 17 Tried twice as an adult, sentenced as a youth.got CYA till age of 25....
This particular case is one that I can only go with my heart. He not only has been sorry for what he did and did not do from day one, but his family as well. I know he will never be free of Nick in his heart and will somehow do something In Honor of him. He was released in May 2007.
You can read what she thought of the sentences of the others in this post:

Wow, so weird to think of him as 23 years old, which he would be now. Sad, sad, sad.

The German DVD comes out Oct 2, and apparently there's a 10-minute music video on it.
http://www.amazon.de/Alpha-Dog-T%C3%B6d … 971&sr=1-1
I haven't been able to find out what music video, though. Might be Justin's "What Goes Around" video that Nick Cassavetes wrote. Might also be something from the movie's soundtrack (possibly with scenes from the movie put in). I'm not gonna buy the German DVD since I already have the US one, but I'll keep looking as to what this might actually be. Next time I see it in the store, I'll pick it up and see if the back cover tells us anything.

Doesn't look like there's anything spectacular on the German DVD that's not on the US one. Thanks for digging, Illinois!

I was thinking that there is always hope of an Extended Edition coming out.
As far as I know the difference between a Director's Cut and an Extended Edition is that with the Director's Cut has the involvement of the director and with an Extended Edition the director isn't involved at all and is usually the studio that has someone edit the new edition together.
So I guess the question is who own the deleted scenes of Alpha Dog and if Universal own them. Did Universal get the rights to everything when they bought it from New Line Cinema or not. Or does the production companies own the deleted scenes since they are the ones that actually produced the film and Universal was only the distributor?
I thought of this because I know Sony has released many Extended Editions of films on DVD that were re-edited without the director's approval or involvement. Or even the editor from the film.

As tacky as Universal's behavior has been through this whole thing, it would not surprise me if they cobbled something together without Nick. But every time Nick talked about a special edition, he's said,"I've got" this or that that could go on it. So it sounds like in this case, he still owns all that material. Or maybe Kimmel Entertainment does. Bottom line, I don't want it unless Nick's involved.
