I just got the dvd out from video ezy, as it's $4 tuesday and it's finally been released here, and I finally have the time to watch it. I thought it was going to come out in the cinemas but it never did, so I've had to wait for the dvd. Nevertheless, I plan to watch it tonight. Lucky exams have finished, cos I might be up quite late watching it since I plan to start at 10:30.

I gotta say Alpha Dog was strangely compelling. Given that it's not the type of movie I would pick up if there wasn't an actor to watch it for. But since Chris wasn't a staring part, and yeah wasn't in it for basically the first half, I was hoping it would be a decent movie. Which it was. Some of characters were good, likable even like Frankie, Jake and obviously Keith. Johnny Truelove creeped me out, not sure if creeped is actually the right word, but it's the only word that comes to mind. And I definately didn't like him, and was rooting for him to caught at the end.

It was pretty crazy really, that like Zach's mum said, he was killed for 12,000 dollars. I guess it just shows how things can get bizarrely out of hand, especially when you've got people like those characters, rich and used to getting their way no matter how much they need to screw other people to get it. It's astounding, though that people would actually kill someone just because their mate ordered them to. I mean I get that Elvis followed orders from Johnny, but killing someone, in cold blood. Seriously? So no ethical issues cross your mind, you just do it because your friend told you to. That's demented.

He's not really my type, but he was good in the part. Now Keith, there was some hotness, love the scene where he's making out with that girl against the wall. Best scene.

Yeah, naked torso Keith is my favorite thing in the movie too. I also Chris's very first scene with the lewd gestures and all. Hilarious!

I little bit of backstory on Elvis. The real guy pretty much lived with Jesse James Hollywood for years. JJH's family took him in off the streets. When Elvis says he owes Johnny a lot, basically he means he owes him everything. There really was nothing the real guy wouldn't have done for JJH.

I dig Emile too. He's always great and he's very cute. In fact, I loved all the guys in the movie, they all did absolutely wonderful work. Even the non-pro actors.

Not a big fan of Emile Hirsch (and I hope Abbie doesn't read this!). That is, not a big fan of Emile Hirsch, looks-wise. As an actor, I like him well enough.

And I agree, the movie itself draws you in. It's compelling in a scary kind of sense. I loved it for its intensity and "shockingness". Probably the best movie I've seen in 2007.
