New Legalities

I was informed today that the court has ruled against JJH and Jim Blatt, denying their attempt to block the film.
As such, the film will be opening January 12th as planned.

Hi, Nick. Earlier today the AP ran a story that the judge had asked to see the film before making a decision. Is this now post-screening?

Dudes! The official AD website has gotten a comlete makeover. Be warned, it moves very slowly. But go check it out. Go to Cast - Crew and click on Chris's name to see to a couple of cool pics that I can't figure out how to save. I'm sure TeeJay or Anne can figure it out and post them here. There's no bio or anythng about the character up yet but hey, fresh pics. They're going to put up more vidclips it says and I haven't found anything with Chris yet, but y'all go explore. Maybe they'll have something soon.
The publicity machine is gearing up too. JT has been on TV talking about the movie (and the Grammys) with clips for three days in a row now. Nothing I've seen nothing that featured Chris and no clips we don't have yet. Still, very exciting!

I can't access it from work. Must be some problem with the Flash plugin or something. All I see is a black screen. Not very exciting. I'll try tonight from home. I'll also try to have a go at the pictures, unless Anne can do it before me.
Also, very cool about the lawsuit! Such a shame we don't get anything on TV over here in Germany. I can try to be on the lookout, once the movie gets closer to release date in Germany. I should google that a little more, see if we have anything official for Germany by now.

Haha. You know what, I just sent you a email with the new release date. Okay, next time I'll check out the forum first! LOL
But yeah, I join your happy dance.
Now let me have a look on the AD page ...

Oh, Jesus, the site is slow. And sluggish. But at least I was able to grab the pics:

Yeah, info about the movie. Nothing about Chris. Lame! But I do like the blue t-shirt pic. I saw another one on the site somewhere where you can see him in the background playing hacky sack and his hands are in the air like the Karate Kid about to do the crane. It's funny but he's very tiny in it. I can't remember where it was.

PS: That's not the same macrame-looking toque as he wore in the JoA S2 specials, is it?

Noir fest honors Whitaker, Francois
By Eric J. Lyman
Dec 12, 2006
ROME -- Forest Whitaker and 19-year-old Belgian Deborah Francois earned the best actor and best actress prizes, respectively, and author-screenwriter Elmore Leonard was presented with a special literary achievement award at the 16th Courmayeur Noir Festival, organizers said Monday.
The Valle d'Aosta Cinema Award went to Nick Cassavetes' "Alpha Dog" and the people's choice award for best film went to "The Last King of Scotland," in which Whitaker stars as brutal Ugandan dictator Idi Amin. Francois won her award for just her second full-length film, "La Tourneuse de Pages" (The Page Turner), directed by Denis Dercourt.
The 81-year-old Leonard -- known for popular novels, many of which have been turned into screenplays -- won the Raymond Chandler Award for his body of work, which includes the screenplays for 1995's "Get Shorty" and the 1997 film "Jackie Brown," both based on novels he wrote.
Other honorees at the Alpine festival included Michael Hazanavicius, who won a special mystery genre prize for "OSS 117 -- Le Caire Nid D'Espions" (OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies), and a special jury prize for "Born" (Children) from Ragnar Bragason.

I guess we can be lucky that he's listed there at all ... but I like the T-Shirt pic too.

I kinda like both the pics. Except for, you know, the wig. But that's part of Keith. Can't wait 'til March. Or longer, depending on whether they movie's gonna screen with our without dubbing over here. No way I'll watch it in German if I haven't seen the English version first.

Why do I think the beautiful eyebrows will be obscured by that horrible wig most of the time? (And why are we spamming this thread with eyebrow talk?)

The only way they can show the tats is to have a pic from the naked torso scene. I doubt they'll oblige us. But I certainly wish they would!

Yes, Chris and his fright wig are quite something. We asked him about it in our interview. He said they wanted him to look greasy, like he just didn't care about his hygene. Mission accomplished. It took us a long time to get used to the way he looks in the movie. But he's right, it works. And I kinda forgot all about the wig once he took off his shirt. ;-p

LOL! Yeah, we know you were making serious movie, Nick. After I saw it, I understood that if you hadn't uglied Chris up with that hideous wig, we would've liked goofy little Keith too much. That character just would NOT have worked if he looked like normal, cute Chris. I totally respect your choice on that front.
