Re: "... like without too much singing." ::: Our Music Thread

Looks like we all have very diverse taste, which is very cool.  Right now, I'm kinda reliving my favorite music of the 80's/90's.  I fallen in love with Big Country all over again.  I'd love to get all their stuff on CD.  And I'm also really enjoying The Railway Children, X, The Smithereens and Nik Kershaw.  Too much fun!

Bic Runga's just awesome.

My iPod is pretty much filled solely with The Decemberists, Ryan Adams, Okkervil River, Iron & Wine, Bon Iver, LCD Soundsystem and a few others scattered in there. I think I'm like you, Anne, I tend to listen to the same artists lots.

Re: "... like without too much singing." ::: Our Music Thread

Carol, Big Country doesn't exist anymore.  Unfortunately, Stuart Adamson ended his own life a few years ago.  But the were a great live band and I doubt they ever stopped playing their signature song.  But since I never had the chance to see them live, I really don't know.  I'm amazed that these guys have like 22 real, official music videos on YouTube.  And every song is great.  They were a helluva lot deeper than I (or anyone else) ever gave them credit for being.

thank you !!!

I am not a huge fan of country in general but Shania Twain has some pretty good love songs where the lyrics are pretty special. My wedding song was "Forever and for Always" off her "UP!" album. "From this Moment On" an "Your Still the One" from "Come on Over" are good too. One of my other favorite love songs include "In your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel, I don't have my Ipod with me so these are off the top of my head. Good Luck

4 minutes is quite catchy. with it's double feat. of timbaland & Justin timberlake. the term feat. still cracks me up, don't know why.

Re: "... like without too much singing." ::: Our Music Thread

I just got my copy of Alanis's new album, Flavors of Entanglement. And I have to say after the first three songs, I can already say that she's hit the nail on the head with this one. I love it. Great stuff. I didn't like her last album that much, if you want to call "Feast on Scraps" an album. Wasn't it only released together with that DVD that came with it? Anyway, I love the new album, that's what I've been meaning to say. Has a bit of a dance floor/electronic feeling to it sometimes, but I like that. :dancing:

Now I just wish the eBay guy would send my 3 Doors Down album!! I was hoping to take it with me to Budapest, but I guess I'll have to wait until I get back. Maybe it's a good thing not to get too much new music all at the same time. smile

My best friends Steph and Dave are.  Dave really wants to go see them but we can't come up with the $$$.  I'd rather see Eddie Izzard, but I'm just weird like that.  Can't afford him either.

Yeah, you know Eddie's stage show is actually surprisingly UNweird for a guy who enjoys dressing up like a woman.  He's just great comedian who happens to dig cross-dressing.  tongue

Not a bad actor, either.  The first televised show I saw was so funny.  That stuff about Englebert Humperdinck still makes me laugh.

Mike Doughty is a god.  Where's this guy been all my life?  So insanely trippy and adorable.  And one of those indelible, unique voices I always treasure.  Nobody's made me smile so big and filled my eyes with tears of joy like this in... ages.
