Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Whoa guys, what the hell is with all this Chris news tonight? Sheesh.

I figured this would be okay to post here now that some news has leaked. I thought Chris said it would be alright to talk about in two weeks though? Hmm.

While surfing around IESB.net, I noticed this little blurb on the side that read "Chris Marquette is Fighting Giant Alien Insects!" I made some sort of loud squeeling noise before clicking on it, which I'm sure woke some people nearby.

Here's the link: http://iesb.net/index.php?option=com_co … &Itemid=99

Here's a few other articles I found just now:
http://www.reuters.com/article/filmNews … 3720070426

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/con … 78fcfac7e7

So Kyle Rankin is directing it eh? Being a Shia LaBeouf fan, I know him from Project Greenlight's second season which followed him as he co-directed The Battle of Shaker Heights. The movie wasn't all that successful, but I'm thinking that was more of the show's issue than it was the directors. Anyways, this movie sounds like it should be fun. My kid brother adored both Shaun of the Dead and 28 Days Later, so I guess I know who I'll be taking to the theater when this releases big_smile

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

So I guess it's official now. big_smile

I have to say, I don't like movies like that very much (I had to watch Arrack Attack once, that was enough), but of course I will watch it for Chris. Giant Bug Aliens, since it's a comedy that should be funny! lol

Bugs...ewww. Aliens...cool, although I'm guessing they're of the overthetop sci fi variety. neutral

This actually sounds freaky, I don't do cocoons and all that jazz very well.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Mel's Bulgarian Bug Movie! Finally we can talk about it! LOL We've known bits and pieces for a while, but of course we couldn't talk about it until we heard anything halfway official. I just don't know what to think about this one. Guess I'll reserve judgment until I've heard a little more about it. But I kinda like the idea of Chris being an action hero. LOL (Didn't he say to us that that's one thing he'd like to do or be? wink)

Here's one thing we know that you might not know: It's apparently gonna be shot in Bulgaria, and soon.

I think two of the links Brenna posted do mention that. Production starts May 28. And he's going to be one hour ahead of us. big_smile

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

If the shoot takes six weeks like Tisha said, then I guess there goes the idea of him being in London in July... So much for my chance of seeing him again any time soon. But you never know what other opportunities will present themselves. Right now I'm just too busy to really get excited or mad about anything that involves Chris, I'm afraid. I hope at least he gets to relax a little and spend time with friends and family before he flies around half the globe.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Oh ye of little faith.  Do you guys honestly NOT trust Chris to make even a giant alien bug movie entertaining?  I totally trust him and leave myself in his capable comedic and dramatic (and gorgeous) hands.

Heck, he managed to make even Touched By An Angel watchable, at least for a couple of episodes.  If he can to that, he can do anything!

Bring on the Bulgarian Bug Movie!

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Here's to Chris squashing ginormous alien bugs with his (gorgeous and capable) bare hands!! <splat splat splat>

Geez, I don't know. I just can't be enthusiastic about anything right now. Which is kinda sad, but I guess we all have our moods. Which is not to say I'm not happy for Chris to get the deal. Tisha said he really wanted to do it, so I'm glad it worked out.

Oh, I'm sure he can do that, I just said that it's not the kind of movie I'd watch everyday. But I really REALLY wanna see Chris squashing Giant Alien Bugs with his bare hands. LOL big_smile

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

If you can't be excited about giant bugs, can you at least be excited that Chris will be the lead in a probable Summer 2008 tentpole picture with sequel potential?  This is the biggest thing that's happened to him so far and the resounding yawn here on this board is just kinda depressing.

I hope he doesn't stumble in here and read this stuff.  He'd probably think, Jesus, these are supposed to be my biggest fans.  What do I have to do to please these people?

PS: Chris, if you do see this, not I do NOT share in this lack of enthusiasm.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Yes, like I said, I wanna see it and I am exited about it. And I am NOT yawning. (Except after class because I had to survive a lesson about Microsoft Word, which I don't need.) I'm still a fan and I am going to watch it. In both languages. Satisfied now?

Let's not get all pissy here.  I just don't understand how we can be so nitpicky about this enormous GIFT we've just been given, that's all.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Hey, I am happy for him! Just know that Germans are negative and skeptic by nature. That's what we're seeing here. I know it's not an excuse, I'm just saying that that's generally the first thing that a German will do when presented with something new: Examine it from all angles and be careful about it until proven otherwise. That's certainly what's happening with me. What's the point in getting all excited about something and then be disappointed if it doesn't meet your expectations. I'm rather pleasantly surprised than the other way round. Thus the carefulness.

I know we've been through this before, Deb. You can't teach an old dog new tricks, especially not if these are things that go on in your subconscious. I was endlessly fascinated by the intercultural management training course I had a few months ago and just how much of your behavior patterns are ingrained in your brain because you're raised with them. Sure, you shouldn't use that as an excuse for not wanting to change your patterns if they're not favorable, but sometimes someone's reaction will heavily fall back on what you learned and grew up with. And I grew up with having an in-built carefulness radar, I guess. Sorry if that comes across as lack of enthusiasm. I'll save all of it for when I actually know enough about the movie to have a reason to be enthusiastic.

And, yeah, like Chris could ever NOT please me with anything he does. I'm absolutely, positively sure I'm gonna love Chris in the movie. I just might not love the movie and its story that much. That makes it hard for me to bounce around in circles. And I do hope Chris proves me wrong once again.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Yeah, we've been through it before.  And it still doesn't make sense to me how we can be sitting there on edge waiting for an official anouncement for weeks so we can finally talk about it and when we get it, we piss ice water all over it.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

What we knew before was nothing beyond action movie that's about bugs, location Bulgaria and Icon Productions. It could have been any number of things, although we all pretty much picked up on the alien bug theme straight away (nice to know there are clichés in this world that won't fail - LOL). So I don't have the prerogative to be skeptic when I actually hear that the movie is something I thought it would be (and wasn't enthusiastic about in the first place): an action movie about alien bugs that wanna take over the world? Come on, you gotta admit that's a totally cheesy storyline!

It could turn out something really great and funny and enjoyable. It could also turn out something ... average or even crappy. I will always--and I mean always--watch it at least once. I will probably be there on the night of the German theatrical release, probably be going to the sneak previews weeks before it opens. Chris's movies have my unshared loyalty, no matter if I think a movie is gonna be my cup of tea or not. 'Nuff said.

You know, I was excited when I first heard about the movie. Absolutely. Which, as you said, was weeks ago. Guess that kind wore off and now I'm examining the material they're giving me.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

I don't get what the problem is. It wasn't my intention to be pissy about the announcement. I mean, I said multiple times that I wanna see it. It's just that I usually do not watch movies with Giant Bug Aliens. But since it has Chris in it and it's supposed to be a comedy, I will watch it. Why do I have to say this so often?

I'm insanely excited actually. I have complete faith in Chris to choose projects that are new and diverse. We all know he can tackle any kind of character, and that he can even make a potentially poor movie quite good. I'm wicked excited to see him as the frontrunner in an action movie, as it's something he's never done before. Besides, the movie sounds like it will be fun.
