Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

It sucks, but I'll live. It would be worse if I hadn't even seen the movie yet. Besides, delivery might still be faster than that and I'll get it some time next week.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

A little late now, but this website has Infestation t-shirts to give away to registered members: http://www.preparetobescared.com/ Probably only works for UK residents, though I haven't checked.

There's an interview with Kyle too, here's an excerpt:

For someone who has had limited experience in lead roles, Chris Marquette brilliantly anchors the film, what made you cast him?

I met Chris at a Mexican restaurant in Santa Monica, and even though I'd seen a lot of candidates... there was something about the way he walked across the room that made me believe he was our Cooper. It felt instantly right, and this impression was solidified as we put him through the paces audition-wise. I really enjoyed his take on the material. I felt he honored my words while at the same time improving them. But I also have to mention that I tell each of my cast members to 'give' the scenes to the person they're acting with. If each actor is concentrating on making the other person look good... they'll all look great. Chris is a natural talent, but his performance was bolstered by Brooke Nevin, Quincy Sloan, and the rest of the supporting cast.

And here's the stupid new DVD cover in hi-res. Thank you, Icon. You suck.

I actually don't think that's Chris's body at all.  Look at the hands.  It might night be Brook's body either.

Yeah, I'm sure they did some heavy photoshopping on both Chris and Brooke. I guess comedic themes, big boobs, loose ties and strong hands sell more DVDs. tongue

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

If as Rick said in the other thread they're only aiming it at young dudes.  And I'm sure that's their thinking.  Why do none of these marketing people have a clue that Chris has an estrogen brigade out here wanting to see him looking fine on a cover?  Maybe someday if we ever get a romance they'll glam him up a bit.

If you actually really closely at that art, his head is a teeny bit too big for his body and he looks too squat.  And Brooke got a boob job.

Oh yeah, I'm sure they'd get right on it for the 10 of us. wink

And, look at that, Kyle Rankin is good friends with Kyle Chandler (yes, the Kyle Chandler). They used to be neighbors, but Kyle C. has now moved to Austin, TX. Kyle C. helped Kyle R. tweak the Infestation script, how awesome is that?

That is indeed pretty awesome.  Chandler's in Austin these days because that's where they shoot Friday Night Lights, which just went into production on it's 4th season a few weeks back.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

This guy finally figured out the ending.  I'm certain that he's right.  And it's pretty brilliant...

Possible explanation for the ending... (SPOILERS, OBVIOUSLY)
by wmcginty 8 hours ago (Sat Sep 12 2009 05:32:22)

Is it not possible that the film is playing the game with us? Minutes before, it subverts the "I had a scary dream" cliché, and earlier in the film, Cooper goes against the norm in this kind of films, when he asks Sara NOT to shoot him if he becomes a bug.

Films like these often end with the survivors thinking they´re safe, only to face a final, even bigger onslaught of the enemy, such as in the Dawn of the Dead remake or Deep Rising, or with the military coming in minutes too late, like in Shaun of the Dead or The Mist.

Counting on the viewer´s assumed knowledge of these conventions, is it not possible that is the film is simply "calling our names" with the "Hey, look!", only to "pretend to do something else", in other words going to credits, thus winning the game over the viewer?

Makes the ending pretty smart, if you ask me...

And yeah. I know, I still owe you my review, but I just can't write it right now, I'm too busy. I'm actually glad that I don't have to go to work at the moment (that's a long story, but trust me, you don't want to hear it).

No, that THE MOVIE is playing the game with THE AUDIENCE.  It made us look, and there was nothing there.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Okay, and so the deep rumbling sound was just in our heads? I can see the idea behind this, but it doesn't make sense with that sound there. Wait until you see the DVD, though if you just listen to it with your TV speakers, it might not sound very impressive. I'm telling you, in the theater, with Dolby Surround and everything, it sounded like the Army was approaching with at least 50 tanks.

And if Kyle indeed wanted to set this up as a "game", there should have been a caption after the end credits, going: "Haha, gotcha! Made you look, didn't I?" wink

And another blogger who saw the movie at FFF and was positively surprised. He said he was hesitant at first to see the movie, but he thought the movie was really well done and didn't use the "usual" cliches of horror comedies. Review is in German: http://toureiro.blogger.de/stories/1474617/

COOOOPER!!!! *sigh* such a lovable goof.

"If I turn into one of those things, and you are holding the shotgun.....Don't hurt me"

Hahaha I laughed. That game sounds like fun to...I think I could annoy many people. Yeah I'm not sure what that ending was supposed to be but I guess it could be right with the movie making a joke with the audience. Honestly clearly biased, but I loved it! The whole movie was just so silly but enjoyable. Completely over the top in so many places but it really works as a firmly tongue in cheek movie.

I really hope this movie does big things for Chris. Though I dont know about the advertising and such. I only know of this movie because of being a fan and through this MB. We can only hope....

I'm not sure if you know this, but the movie is going directly to DVD and will not show theatrically anywhere other than at film festivals. Which is a crying shame, if you ask me. While it maybe become a hit in certain circles, I don't think it'll gain widespread recognition, so unfortunately this isn't gonna be Chris's big breakthrough movie. sad As to advertising, Icon seems to be promoting it a little on affiliated websites, but I don't think it'll go beyond that.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Okay, so I got my DVD today. The "Making of Infestation" special is 20 minutes long, but there's only little Chris in it. He's not interviewed and you only see him every now and then when they show the process of filming certain scenes or put clips from the movie in. It's a lot of fun to watch, but it's kinda dissatisfying if you're a Dorquette. There's no screencap-worthy scenes of Chris in there, really. The only other special feature is Kyle Rankin's commentary, which I haven't looked at yet.

I won't have time for screencaps tonight, and I'm gonna be pretty busy all week. Timing could have been better for this one...

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

So Rankin needs yet another spankin' for short-changing us even in the featurette?  Looks like we're going to have to make our own movie to have something that gives Chris the attention and respect he deserves.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Taking aside the fact that I would have loved to see more Chris in the featurette, the really good thing about it was that it wasn't your usual "the movie is awesome, the team is awesome, the actors did an awesome job, the whole world is awesome" kind of thing. I'd rather have an interesting featurette like that than 10 minutes of Chris, Brooke and Ray telling me how awesome it was, working on this movie and working with Kyle. They don't make movies with Chris just to please the Marquette fans, you know? (Though maybe they should! LOL)

You think every movie Zac Efron makes these days, for instance, doesn't have his face lovingly slathered all over the box art and that he's not worshiped in every featurette?
