What I don't get is why the movie has to be submitted to a million festivals before they even think about releasing it theatrically. They were once talking about a late 2008/early 2009 release. The way things sound now, it's probably gonna be a late 2009/early 2010 release. If that. Let's hope this is not another Fanboys, where Icon has no idea how to market it. <crosses fingers>

Isn't the purpose of the festivals to scare up a distributor? I don't know if that's the case here, but I think it's why a lot of indies go straight to DVD, because they can't get a decent distribution deal.

Yes, festivals are generally about selling films to distributors. Which is the real reason why it may be a long time yet before we see Infestation in the states. It already has an overseas distributor. That's probably why it has a new European poster. You guys in that part of the world might get to see it before we see it in America.

Let's say it does make it into Tribeca and someone buys it, they still have to cook up a marketing strategy and book theaters. I think we'd have to consider ourselves very lucky if we get to see it in 2009. Rankin seems hopeful that we will and I'd love to believe he's right. I just won't get my hopes up until we see some movement.

Wait a minute, Icon won't distribute it in the States? Or can't? Or what? I thought distribution was a done deal with Icon behind the movie, especially in the US. But what do I know?

I just wish they'd put it in the German Fantasy Film Fest, then I might catch it months before it hits the screens officially. And in OV. I would be rather surprised if, even if it came to European theaters before it did to those in the US, they'd show it in OV around here. I have a feeling it's not gonna be "mainstream" enough for any of the OV theaters to pick it up. Hope I'm wrong, though. Otherwise this'll be one of the movies where I'll have to wait for the DVD again. Hmpf.

Icon is a production company, not a distributor. The only movie they've ever distributed themselves was The Passion Of The Christ, because no one else would touch it. Apocalypto, for instance, was distributed by Disney, of all companies. Well, an arm of Disney.

Ah, okay. Well, you know what? I'm gonna write to Icon Entertainment in the UK and ask them to consider submitting the movie to the Fantasy Film Fest. At the same time I'm gonna tell them we'll be happy to promote the movie on our site. The worst that can happen is that I don't hear back, right?

Couldn't watch the quicktime video but found it on Youtube.

Although some of the effects look tacky, the film does however look funny.
