The Eli Experience

Did anyone else watch this on The Girl Next Door special features? I think it is so cute when he get up lol. One question though. Did people really not realize that was Chris when he was saying his name was Eli. Or do just not enough people know who he is to figure that out.

Re: The Eli Experience

You know, maybe it was shot before the movie was even in the theaters and no one knew Eli. GND was shot before JoA came out, so I really doubt a lot of people knew Chris then. He was wearing the baseball hat too.

So, yeah, of course I've seen it. But I have to admit, I didn't like it that much. The cutest thing about it was the scenes in the hotel room where he's wearing the wife beater. But it was cool to see him have a good time at that convention.

Re: The Eli Experience

I'm sure they didn't know who he was.  People STILL don't know who he is.  Like that girl, Alex who was an extra in Revenge Of The Nerds.  She'd been working with him all day and when she left, she asked him, "What's your name again?"

Re: The Eli Experience

aww...lol. Yeah I really only liked the part in the hotel room. It was cute. I think it's funny in a way that poeple don't know him, cause he has done alot. If I ever say aynthing about him and people ask who he is I usually have to say "He's the kid on The Girl Next Door that's obsessed with porn." otherwise they're lost. But here. Everyone knows who he is! lol

Re: The Eli Experience

I think to most people, he's kinda like "oh yeah, I've seen that face, but I don't know his name". He has done a lot, but most of it wasn't very high-profile and we have yet to see him play a lead on the screen. Maybe after that (can you say "Fanboys" and "Infestation"?) people will start associating his name with his face a little more. Over here in Germany, he is barely known. Joan ran only for one season, years ago. In the theaters we've had GND, Just Friends and The Invisible, but he was "just" a secondary character in either of those. I wish he'd gain some more popularity.

Yep, I get that reaction a lot too. I hate having to say, "The guy from The Girl Next Door." You'd think my friends would know his name by now, the way I ramble on about him from time to time.

Re: The Eli Experience

I always ask, "Ever seen Joan Of Arcadia?" first.  A lot of people say yes to that and then I tell them he was Joan's sensitive artist boyfriend and they remember him.  If they haven't seen that show, I usually offer up GND next as well.  I think almost everyone I know has seen that movie at least once.

Even Chris says most people know him from Joan and GND, though people are recognizing him from Just Friends as well now that it's on cable every five minutes.  LOL!

A few months back, my boss's husband told her to tell me that he saw his face on the side of a bus!  I laughed my butt off at that one.  It wasn't him, obviously.  It was... ahem... Shia freakin' LaBeouf (for Disturbia).  I wanna hurl when I think about that!  They look NOTHING alike!  But please don't get me started on that...  roll

Re: The Eli Experience

Sweet Jesus, another person mistaking Chris for Shia? Man, how??? Because they really don't look anything alike (to us), but maybe there's just some small feature we're missing that others keep picking up on?

But I'll wait eagerly for the day when Chris's face appears on the side of busses. LOL

Yeah, I won't get you started, because I'm a diehard Shia fan, and have been since around 2000. LOL. But I agree, they look absolutely NOTHING alike.

Re: The Eli Experience

I used to kinda like the guy but lately I feel like people are trying to shove him down my throat and I get resistent when that happens.  I was in a store the other day and I saw the Vanity Fair cover.  Of course my only thought was THAT SHOULD BE CHRIS!

Re: The Eli Experience

Haha, I don't disagree. I was a bigger fan when he wasn't as well-known. Disturbia ruined it a little bit for me, he's got a whole bunch of annoying followers now. Luckily, if Infestation makes Chris's popularity skyrocket, I doubt that his fans will be obnoxious.

Re: The Eli Experience

I think Fanboys is the one that's gonna break Chris big.  I've been saying that forever, I know.  But it just seems like it'll be a huge cult hit and one of those movies that people will still be watching 20 years from now.

Re: The Eli Experience

Yeah, I think we all get that glazed-over look from our friends occasionally.  TeeJay has hers trained so that all she has to do is say, "Eyebrows", and they all groan.   lol

Re: The Eli Experience

lol. I know they ignore me cause I can talk about him one day and explain who he is then the next day they'll be like "Who are you talking about?" and I'll say Chris Marquette. Usually they stare at me and are like "Who the hell is that?" As long as i get to vent about him I don't care if they are actually listening.haha. What is the deal with "eyebrows?"

LOL!! lol

What's the deal with the eyebrows? It's a long time running in-joke with me. One of the first things about Chris that I noticed was how beautiful his eyebrows are. I have yet to find a guy with eyebrows that are as beautiful. Look at them. Then tell me they're not beautiful.

When I talked to my (non-Chris fan) friend Anja about it, she started teasing me with it. And it somehow became this big thing among my friends. I ended up telling Anja at least once a day (we were colleagues at work back then), "Anja! Anja! Have I already told you today how beautiful Chris Marquette's eyebrows are??"

We don't talk to each other that often anymore, but when we do phone or meet, I usually throw in a joking comment about the eyebrows. And she'll go, "Tina, I really miss your silliness at work. Everyone's so normal..."

And I've been roping everyone in around here as well, of course. smile

It's all about the eyebrows for me. tongue

Okay, not true. Of course I like his overall look, all that comes with it. The teeth are quite unique too. And, by God, I hope neither Chris nor Diane ever reads this. wink (And if they did, I hope they go wash their eyes now.)

Re: The Eli Experience

*pops in for brief thread necromancy* I've yet to rant about Chris in front of a group of friends who don't know who he is, but it'll happen soon. If anything, it's my parents who wonder what I'm talking about. xD I find it hilarious that all you have to say is "eyebrows" now, Tina. That shows dedication (and obsession, but we're splitting hairs there).

My life long dream is to somehow get Adam Rove into a puppy-suit. Until then, my imagination will have to tide me over.

Wahahaha! lol I didn't even see this before!
But I know the groaning. People here ususally do that too if I start talking about him. My mom keeps saying that he looks like my brother in a way, but I can assure you, he doesn't. (He looks a lot better! big_smile )

Re: The Eli Experience

Well, I was at the movie theatre the other day because I went to go see the movie Hairspray, and on the screen they had a short quiz before the movie, and one of the questions was "Who was the actor that said this, " Offical episode 1 countdown, 6 months, 12 days, 4 hours, and some change!" or  something like that and then I screamed "Omg, thats Chris Marquette!" I was like the only one in the audience you knew except for my sister, which I was kinda disappointed that no one else knew. sad
