Re: Fanboys

Thanks for pointing out AICN, Shrams. I think I've actually read most of their Fanboys articles since Harry Knowles is actually in the movie, which we've known for a while. Well, it's not Harry himself, it's some dude whose name I keep forgetting playing him. It was supposed to be Jorge Garcia at first, but there was some timing conflict with the shooting of Lost, so he couldn't make it.

Yes, Sean, you're our hero. Deb, keep working on that Sean Shrine. It has to be perfect! How about the Darth Vader candle? wink

Re: Fanboys

I've already read all those old articles at AICN, Shrams.  We all have, probably.  We've been pursuing this movie since it was first announced and then we struck gold when we made Sean's acquaintence.  I think we have those articles linked here on the early pages in this thread.  We know all about how Harry was supposed to play Harry, then Jorge Garcia was supposed to play him, then Kevin Smith.  And I think the guy who ended up playing him is a friend of his, a local actor or something.  Sean probably knows who the guy is.  He looks kind of ridiculous in my opinion, but I can overlook that.

The coolest part of the trailer getting released is that now the cat's really out of the bag and we can start posting our thousands of pics as we see fit, right?  We should probably still be careful about the cameos, except Shatner.  That's out there now, so we can post the pics of Linus, Eric and Shatner if we want.  Love that rubber-faced look of shock on Chris's face in the trailer when Shatner reveals himself.  Gonna see if I can find a still that closely matches it.  It's too funny!

Re: Fanboys

Okay, that makes sense.  I didn't know Chris was going to be in the movie until fairly recently.  Too bad they didn't get Jorge Garcia.

I've never been 100% sure, but I think Father Geek, who plays Harry in the film, is actually Harry's real father, which makes the whole thing even more bizarre.

Really looking forward to this one!

Re: Fanboys

There will eventually be an official movie website, by the looks of it: www.fanboys-movie.com

Right now there's just some interim page there, but you can leave a comment. Can you guys maybe write to them, tell them you're looking forward to a proper site being put there soon (or whatever else you wanna say)? The more, the merrier. Right? Would be cool if they realized a lot of people are interested in the movie. I already sent them something.

Re: Fanboys

A Sean shrine? lol You're killin' me!!

I can't remember for the life of me, the name of the guy who played Father Geek, but we did meet him up in Las Vegas because he was actually one of the van drivers that took us to the shooting locations everyday from base camp. He was a really cool guy.
Jordan Gebler played Harry, he was basically  a last second addition-I think it was indeed one of those "friend of a friend" type things. He does look pretty crazy with the fake beard and hair, but I guess they were desperate.
Jorge would've been the perfect choice though...

Guys, check this out:

There's a video interview with Kyle that they did a while ago. I haven't seen the whole thing yet, but it appears to be mainly about Fanboys. Cool beans!

Re: Fanboys

Can't get it to play how? It doesn't open? You get an error message? If so what does it say? The computer crashes? Did you try either version, QuickTime or MediaPlayer? Try saving the files to your computer first (they have a link below where you can right-click and say Save target as...) and then play them from there.

Re: Fanboys

It freezes, sputters, stalls, won't play.  And when I click where they say you can Save Target As, I don't get that option.  And you know QuickTime doesn't work well on my machine.   Guess I just can't watch it.  <shrug>

Re: Fanboys

I showed Lars the Fanboys trailer last night. He laughed a couple of times too. He'd totally watch the movie with me. Well, if I see it in February, I will still watch it again if it ever comes to Germany. I might even watch it dubbed (if I don't have any other choice), because then at least I will have seen the original version beforehand. Hopefully.

I still love the "it's my lucky R2" scene. These boys are gonna rock da house! Kyle and Ernest and Adam, thank you for making this movie! And Sam, Dan, Jay, Chris and Kristen, thank you for bringing the characters to life. I'm sure it's gonna be great. Hey, I'm already speaking as if I've seen the movie. But I've seen/heard so much from it that I'm absolutely positive now that I'm gonna love it. It'll probably go on my must-have DVD list. And not only because Chris is in it.

Sean, I hope you guys will be in the DVD extras!!!

Re: Fanboys

Did you read the payoff rhyme in the IM the other day when I was trying to explain it to you?  Because as funny as the "lucky R-2" thing is in the trailer, the payoff of that joke later is much funnier.

Later, Windows wakes up in the same position with Zoe and she says, "Tell me that's your lucky R-2 poking me."  And Windows says, "Nope."

lol

Re: Fanboys

LOL Yeah, I love that scene too.
Well, if it's not coming out undubbed in Germany I hope they will at least release it on DVD here, so I can watch it with subtitles ... I don't think I'd watch it dubbed. Maybe when one of my friends wants to go with me, but I doubt that. And I'm not sure how much I'll understand when I watch the original version. I still need subtitles.

There will probably be quite a bit of the extra stuff. There was a guy there filming a "making of" during the shoot. I think you might've met him, his name was Andrew. He interviewed quite a few people from our group, so I'm anxious to see if they'll make it on there!!
He's the guy that James and I are talking to in the Trailer...There should be plenty more scenes with us as well. While we filmed the casino scenes, they used us in tons of different positions and shots. Should be fun trying to pick us out in each scene. big_smile

Can't wait to see the theater scene either, both outside and inside. A ton of our fanclub and friends were involved in that scene.

Yep, we met Andrew on ROTN.  Nice guy!  He shot our Kyle interview.  Can't wait to see if we end up in that DVD's extras.

Sean, did you get my email about that ugly new rumor that ROTN is pushed back till 2008?  I don't believe a word of it.  Kyle would not let that happen. Can you hit your usual sources and see if there's anything new about that shoot?

Re: Fanboys

The Fanboys trailer has hit SF Radio, the biggest sci-fi webradio site in Germany (which my friend Ralf works for):
http://www.sf-radio.net/webbeat/kino/me … 813,00.php

Doesn't say much, just a brief synopsis. Nothing we don't know already. How cool is it that they're using my collage everywhere?? smile

I also talked about ROTN and Fanboys with a couple of colleagues tonight. We had a sort of get-together at a diner after work with different people from different departments. I told Astrid before, and she told her husband, who's also into Star Wars. He says he's looking forward to the movie. I should send her the link to the trailer. And maybe a pic of Chris in the Stormtrooper uniform. big_smile
