From MaraJade:
I heard it may even be June now. They have done some reshoots which could possibly change the entire plot. Perhaps they are waiting to advertise it until they have decided whether to go with the original plot, or with the new plot/ending.
Someone I know in Michigan, said it won't be released till JUNE! This is what he said:
"Tonight on the Post Show for Heroes (on G4 w/ HFOL Blair Butler), they mentioned FANBOYS is not coming out until JUNE 2008! It was part of their trivia facts at the bottom that they run during the show. I hope they're wrong. The Post Show is must see TV for Heroes fans!"
Christ on a mutha ucking cracker! I give up.

Can't say I really care anymore right now. I wish someone would be able to confirm what they're doing and I wish someone higher up would notice what all this uncertainty and rumors are doing to the movie (and what I mean is what kind of damage). March, April, June, what does it matter anymore? I don't have any illusions that whatever we'll be seeing on the screen is what I thought it would be and what I've supported until I was blue in the face for close to two years. Sorry guys. I give up.

I wonder if anyone will care by the time it comes out.

I have said this before: If they keep pushing the movie back, noone will remember it by the time it comes out. IF it ever comes out.
To be honest, I think I would have lost interest completely by now if we hadn't all the photos and stuff Sean gave us. I never had so much background info on a movie before. It's sad what they're doing with it.

I stumbled across some links and blogs from the re-shoots. One of our fellow 501sters had some droids that appeared in the re-shoots too.

The original trailer for it makes it look really good. Now they're changing it so who knows what to expect.

Someone posted this on IMDb. It's from Wizard.com. Oddly, Kyle maintains that Linus dying is still part of the story. And the article still says the movie will be released next month. Weird:
UP CLOSE: 'FANBOYS' DIRECTOR
KYLE NEWMAN
The Force is with Newman as he discusses his love for 'Star Wars,' shooting a movie with his idols and getting Kristen Bell to dress as Slave Leia!By Karl Cramer
Posted December 17, 2007 9:00 AMWIZARD: Many Bothan spies died to bring us the information that you created a comedy called "Fanboys." What's it about?
NEWMAN: It's about five best friends who go on a road trip to break into Skywalker Ranch to see ["Star Wars] Episode I" before it comes out so their dying friend can see the movie before he passes on. The [group has] also grown apart so this impending death is a catalyst for them to get back together as friends. It's got some "Stand By Me" weight to it. It's goofy like a road trip but it switches to be very real and very emotional at times.
So what prompted you to make a movie about "Star Wars" fanboy culture?
NEWMAN: I'm a huge "Star Wars" fan. It was really my first memory. Before I could pronounce real human things I could pronounce "Star Wars" things-like Greedo and Hammerhead and Walrusman.
I'm also a pop culture fan, so there's everything in this movie. There's "Star Wars" in every scene and there's everything from Transformers and X-Men to "Road House" and [the band] Rush. The movie's also set in a time that it almost didn't matter if the movies were good or bad. What mattered was there were new "Star Wars" movies coming. You see so many movies where they try to make a "Star Wars" fan or fanboy very stereotypical. They're real regular people who get together and get real passionate about "Star Wars" and comic books and things like that.
[]You apparently got some great support from "Star Wars" fans.
NEWMAN: So many fan groups-the 501st Legion, the Fan Force in New Mexico-all brought some of their own personal collection in so we could fill out the prop room. Then when we re-created the "Episode I" opening night in May of '99, we had close to 1,000 fans in New Mexico show up. For free. In costume! All just to sit around a movie theater in a line that stretches around the block into infinity.
"Fanboys" also features some cool cameos from "Star Wars" actors…
NEWMAN: [Darth Maul actor] Ray Park was already a friend of mine. He said, "Mate, I'll do whatever you want." We've got Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams and William Shatner from an alternate universe. And then people who are big "Star Wars" fans are in it like Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes.
Some of their stuff was a little too R-rated for our cut. The full scene will be on the DVD. We're still trying to get Mark Hamill if we can swing it.Wait, William Shatner? But he's a "Star Trek" guy.
NEWMAN: "Star Trek's" a big part of this movie even though we're not calling it that. I went a little overboard with the "Trek" bashing.
Your main cast is an amazing group of up-and-comers. Jay Baruchel, Kristen Bell, Dan Fogler, Sam Huntington, Chris Marquette. And Seth Rogen!
NEWMAN: No one came in with any attitude. There was great chemistry between everybody. The only thing is I wish I had more shooting time because sometimes I was like, "That was great. Seth. Two takes." But with Seth Rogen you want to let him do more takes and experiment. But we had 53 locations in 25 days. But ultimately, I'm happy with the movie.
You gave a shout-out to fans by writing in Internet rumor legend Harry Knowles. Does he play himself?
[]NEWMAN: Harry was going through some medical stuff at the time. He thought it would be fun if ["Lost's"] Jorge Garcia was going to play him.
Jorge was all set to do it but there were some problems with "Lost's"
schedule. Then Kevin Smith was going to do it, but then he had to do some final work on "Clerks 2." We finally got Jordan Gelber ["Law and Order:
SVU"] who was a friend of Dan Fogler's.Did you get any help from Lucasfilm?
NEWMAN: We've gotten tremendous cooperation from Lucasfilm. There were a few things where they were like, "Well you can't have Stormtroopers drink beer" and stuff like that, but for the most part, the story has the best intentions. They saw this as a great script, great characters, and it's not doing anything disparaging toward their empire. [Producer] Rick McCallum loved the script. He hooked us up with ILM and they did a couple of effects for us. We've been doing our post-production sound work at Skywalker [Ranch]. We got access to the "Star Wars" library of sounds!
You also had access to Princess Leia's metal bikini, apparently. How did you get Kristen Bell to wear it?
NEWMAN: She was game for it. She knew it would be fun. She knew it would be something people would talk about. Ultimately, she's a fan, too. It was a chance to be Slave Leia!
"Fanboys" will be released in theaters on Jan. 18, 2008.

Hmmm
As good as this all sounds, after everything we know that's been going on, I don't really want to believe it.

I checked the TWC site & comingsoon.net. It's not on the TWC site at all anymore and comingsoon.net has removed it from the January schedule.

Maxim magazine has a little thing about upcoming films and they have a graph and these are what they checked for Fanboys.
"Plot revolves around a covert operation"
"Actors wear scary costumes"
"Will turn cineplexes into dork magnets"
This is their description of the film.
"Set in 1998, Fanboys follows Kristen Bell and a gaggle o' geeks as they try to steal a copy of Star Wars: Episode I from Skywalker Ranch."
They also show a really small picture of Chris and 2 other guys at a window.
It's on page 32 of the January 2008 issue.

I know I'll still go see it if it does release in the summer. It's getting frustrating though because I've been pimping the movie on the board I go on in IMDb. So, I hope I haven't been giving the wrong date.

Strangely enough, the Weinstein website still lists Jan 18 Nationwide as release. But they just probably haven't updated their page yet. But there's no way it's gonna be a January release now, is there? I'm just guessing the interview with Kyle wasn't all that recent and they only just posted it now. Or else Kyle is not allowed to talk about what's really going on (if there is anything going on).
