Re: Fanboys

It was last October for the International Balloon Fiesta here in Albuquerque. The pilots(And Balloon) are from Belguim and it was the N. American premiere for them. It was awesome!! It's cool cuz one of the pilot's is also a member of the 501st Legion. smile

Great shots.  Now that you mention it, I kinda remember that now.  Jacen actually looks kinda pensive.  wink

Re: Fanboys

Guess it won't hurt posting this here as well, seeing how not everyone might check the other Fanboys thread:

news_SaveFanboys.jpg

STOP DARTH WEINSTEIN

We recently reported on chris-marquette.com about the changes that have been made to Fanboys, and if you've been following the latest developments there or elsewhere, you know that The Weinstein Company took the movie away from Kyle Newman and reshot some footage late last year with someone called Steven Brill (Without a Paddle, Little Nicky) at the helm. At first we believed that Kyle was directing the rehoots and that the additional footage was just some stuff they had wanted to do but couldn't afford until TWC agreed to give them another $2 million.

Aaaaank, wrong!! We should have known, because the Weinsteins have a reputation for meddling with films until they turn them into total crap. And obviously that's what they're doing with Fanboys right now. Market research has led them to believe the original version of Fanboys will not appeal to the public because it included someone suffering from cancer. They actually stated that their research says people won't laugh for 5-10 minutes after cancer is mentioned.

So what's their solution? Eliminating the entire plot of the original film by cutting the cancer aspect. Now the core group of Star Wars fans travels cross country on a mission to steal an early print of The Phantom Menace, not to help their dying friend realize his last wish, but just because. They tool around in their super geeky van and cause all kinds of havoc just because they think it would be the ultimate fanboy thing to do, breaking into Skywalker Ranch to steal the movie right out from under George Lucas's nose.

And because we know both endings now, we can tell you that this super-geeky, booger-eating, gratuitously dirty version ends in a complete letdown. Gone are the triumphant final scenes surrounding Linus realizing his dream and revitalizing all his friendships in his remaining days on earth. Gone is the ending that received three standing ovations and nine minutes of applause when the rough cut of the real version screened at Celebration Europe last year. No one will cheer this new ending. And Star Wars fans are likely to leave the theater feeling manhandled and very much ripped off.

If you're a Chris Marquette fan, you might wanna know that these changes will affect a lot of his scenes since he plays the character who suffered from cancer in the original version. So if you prefer seeing Chris being both hilariously funny and emotionally moving instead of him just geeking out in what has been called "Superbad with nerdier characters" and a completely empty story, you can actively help us fight these changes.

If, like us, you think that what The Weinstein Company is doing is wrong, distasteful and misguided, please join the group of fans who've formed their own Rebel Alliance to take on the TWC Death Star and fight Darth Weinstein to the bitter end. Help us save this movie we've all been anticipating for so long.

Check out their website (www.seeya.at/stopdarthweinstein) and their MySpace page (www.myspace.com/stopdarthweinstein).

Please e-mail the list of TWC employees to let them know that you're unhappy with these developments, the Stop Darth Weinstein website will tell you how. Also, please join the Stop Darth Weinstein MySpace community and leave a comment. Post your own opinion online and stay vocal with your discontent. If we can mobilize enough people, maybe we can right a few wrongs and bring about a change of heart.

May The Force Be With The Real Version Of Fanboys!

Jaime King Talks About FedEx Engagement Fiasco

By Marla Lehner

Originally posted Thursday September 13, 2007 04:00 PM EDT

Jaime King's romance with fiancé Kyle Newman is like a fairytale – but she describes their engagement as "a scene out of a romantic comedy."

The couple, who had picked out an engagement ring together, were expecting the jewelry to be delivered via FedEx the day before leaving for a getaway together. "Somehow we missed the FedEx truck, and I freaked out," King tells In Style Weddings for its October issue.

"I wanted to go on the vacation engaged, with my ring! So I got in the car, and I stopped two FedEx trucks, saying, 'Do you have my ring?' It was like a scene out of romantic comedy, with me literally chasing down trucks!"

When the package finally arrived, she and Newman decided to take a walk together. After "walking around and around" in a Beverly Hills park, Newman "got down on one knee and proposed," says King.

King, 28, did not have to ponder her response. The couple, who first met in January 2005 on the New Mexico set of Fanboys, directed by Newman, knew their relationship was special from the get-go.

"I really think we meet the right guy when we are ready" King tells the magazine, which hits newsstand Friday.

Within three months of their first official date, the couple had moved in together.

"I didn't have to stop and wonder whether it made sense because it didn't feel like a big choice," says Newman. "Sometimes, things go slow and nowhere. Sometimes they move fast, and it feels like you are picking up where you left off, even though you've never met."

King adds, "I don't know why, but some part of me was instantly connected to him, and I loved him so much. It was intense. I never thought that would happen to me."

Their wedding, planned for the fall in the same park where they got engaged, will be " intimate and relaxed," says King who plans to wear a Calvin Klein gown.

Up next: Professionally, King will next star in The Pardon, Riding the Pine and Sin City 2. Personally, "I want at least three children," she says.

But for now, "Life is better than how I imagined it. There are things we want when we're younger, but my life of late is better than anything I could have dreamt up."

Cool. But I'm confused. Didn't you say Harry Knowles played himself in the reshoots? According to Ernie, it was yet another actor, but not Harry.

Yeah, that's what all the articles that came out around the time of the reshoots said.  Guess they got that wrong.  Or it could've been a joke.  I don't know.

Interesting, Ethan Suplee filled in for the re-shoots. Ironically, he's had several roles in Kevin Smith movies and is now on My name is Earl.

Re: Fanboys

This is very interesting. On collider.com there's an interview with Christopher MacDonald (who plays Eric's father) and even though it was an interview about <gag> Superhero Movie, Frosty was bold enough to talk to him about the recent Fanboys changes. It has a timestamp of March 24. Read it here:
http://www.collider.com/entertainment/i … 394/tcid/1

Suffice to say, Christopher had no idea the Weinsteins were messing with the movie to this extent.

There's also a video interview with him on IESB where he talks a little about Fanboys:
http://www.iesb.net/index.php?option=co … ink&id=882

He's not saying anything we don't know, though. And he's very mysterious about it, doesn't wanna mention cancer, instead says "without this particular thing". And he mentioned "Mr. Brill" who did a "little fixing and editing". I quote: "You don't wanna release something when it's 85% good, you want it to be really a 100% good cos you'd just kick yourself later on. A little more time and money to invest and then you have something really great. And I have yet to see it, but I can't wait. I hear good things about it."

Really, Christopher, how can you say it's only 85% good when you haven't even seen it???

Also, I love Frosty! Read this:

DRILLBIT TAYLOR – 9 Movie Clips
3/18/2008
Posted by Frosty

Opening this Friday is "Drillbit Taylor," the new Owen Wilson movie. This is the film where he plays a bodyguard to a few high school kids that are constantly getting beaten up by the local bullies at school.

I got to see the movie tonight and can say while it's not a bad movie by any means, it's also nothing great either. It's a cute film that definitely has a few laughs, but it's also directed by Steve Brill… so I cannot recommend it.

And if you've wondering why I've got a problem with Steve Brill, it's because he's the guy the Weinstein Company brought in to re-cut the movie "Fanboys." Yes, he's the guy in charge of taking out the cancer storyline.

While I'd normally play nice and wait to see what he's done, I recently found out something so shocking that I've absolutely gone of the rails and I want this guy removed from anything to do with "Fanboys."

What did I find out?

When he came in to start working on the movie, he didn't know who some of the major "Star Wars" characters were. Yes, the Weinstein's brought in someone who didn't give a shit about "Star Wars" and has no idea what the movie means to a great number of people – myself included. So if you read online any quotes from Steve saying how much he loved "Star Wars" or any bullshit like that, yeah…maybe he did like the movie at some point in his life, but he never LOVED the movie.

Re: Fanboys

Jesus, he doesn't know ANYTHING!?!  yikes

Know what else he probably doesn't know?  That a bunch of Eric's backstory with the car dealership and the brother was left on the cutting room floor.  Some of his stuff might have been cut too.

But even this dolt thinks the cancer plot was the "impetus" for them to go on the trip.  He even used that word.

And I was wondering where that stuff about Brill not really being a Star Wars fan came from.  Now I know.  Thanks Frosty!

Well, it looks like Brill/Weinstein somehow put 2 and 2 together and figured out that some of us in Albuquerque were involved in the protests and cut our parts out of the film:
