When exactly do Adam and Joan fall for each other?

I think it is pretty clear that Adam falls for Joan during "The Fire and the Wood". By the beginning of "Touch Move" it is clear that if he isn't in love, he is well on the way (based on his reaction to the wrestler discussion). I think he falls for her when she comes to visit his shed at the end of Fire and Wood, but there are a few other moments during that episode which could work be it as well.

Joan is a harder question. She is so clueless about Adam's obvious interest, and she is definately stuck in friend mode. My impression is that at the end of "Bringeth It On", when he says that wonderful thing about how he doesn't care what she does he just "likes hanging out with you cause you're Jane". At that moment he definately rises in her eyes, but I'm still not sure she has fallen for him.

I think it actually happens for her in "Jump" (there I go again, all things lead to Jump), but I think it finally happens for her in the shed when Adam tells her he is scared that the letter will say his mother's suicide was his fault. That vulnerability (and her reaction to it) is what finally gets her to see her own feelings. There are a couple of reasons way this seems right to me. First of all, she leaves almost immediately after this, almost too quickly, and she seems more nervious at this point, like something new has been added to the situation. I am probably reading too much into that. The other thing is that the next time she expects to see Adam (he shows up at her house for the letter reading), she has put the wave in her hair, which she always does when she wants to look good. Now I don't think she was dressing up for the science fair, so to me she was dressing up for Adam, and that's the first time she has done that.

Kind of rambling, but what do you guys think?

I think Joan falls for Adam at some point between Bringeth It On and Jump. I think she notices how much he means to her after she destroys his sculpture, but knows it could be too late then. But at that point she may not be in love with him yet, I think the point she realizes that she loves him is when Adam starts seeing Iris.
And for Adam I am not sure yet, but I think somewhere between Touch Move, The Boat and Just Say No. (I mean, it's pretty clear that Adam's pretty jealous when Clay turns up, right? )

It's pretty much clear that Adam is enamoured with Joan from the beginning. He likes her, would like for her to like him. I'm not sure at what point he realizes he has a crush on her, but my best guess would be as early as Just Say No (because he's clearly jealous of Clay Fisher). I think he realizes he fell in love with her some time after Jump, after that first kiss. And it's clearly confusing the hell out of him. Think back to the conversation at the end of Recreation, where Adam admits that the kiss meant a lot to him and that he doesn't know what to do with it.

I don't know when Joan falls for Adam or realizes that she does or did. She's oblivious the first few episodes. I would agree with Anne when she says that Joan only realizes what Adam meant to her after she destroys his sculpture. And by the time he's dating Iris, she knows she wants more than to be "just friends". It's at the end of No Bad Guy that she openly admits she "doesn't just like" him.

That's my take on it.

Adam is a tad more easy to figure out, he admitted he liked her so much she made him nervous at the end of common thread in the shed. Joan hmmm she didn't really she liked him until he wanted her out of his life

I agree with others Joan starts to realize how much she cares about Adam after she smashes his artwork and Adam freezes her out. Adam I would say since the beginning. He's always just kind of crushed on Joan. lol
