Yeah, Sandy Springs, East Cobb, Roswell & Alpharetta.  Their Sandy Springs Base Camp is on the way to my previous job.

True words Deb.  Understand that - Definately check it out on dvd. The first two or three episodes don't do it justice but start to get really into it into the fourth or fifth episode.  I cried in the series finale. I never cry in anything! It was very bittersweet for me.

I read somewhere that Vampire Diaries was being shot in Atlanta.  I think the pilot was actually shot in Vancouver and then they relocated.  I've been trying to keep up with that one too but there is just so much to watch now.

Wow, I was beginning to think I was the only one who liked it. I knew it was going to upset me when it was cancelled (it was inevitable) but I was too curious to let it go. I think it was too complicated for a lot of people. It's one of those shows that doesn't make sense if you just start watching it in the middle. I personally love that, but to each his own.

It's really a shame it didn't have more of a following because Victor and Sierra (or Anthony and Priya) were adorable together. smile

OK, you talked me into it.  I'll check it out on DVD as soon as I get a chance.

Nah, I meant between the two of you.  Plus, big Whedon fan and love Eliza so not really a big stretch.  I'll put it in my queue.

I completely agree with you.  The story was complex and really think it needed a two hour time slot than just an hour!  I thought the two hour episodes they did towards the end were amazing because creators had more libety to build up the story and get info you needed to make sense out of everything.  Some of the best Joss Whedon stuff yet.  It was definately complicated and dark too.  A lot of people don't go for that.

Sierra and Victor were adorable together! Love both those actors.  Especially Anthony, his impressions of Topher and some of the other characters and personalities were spot on!

His Topher really was spot on. I loved the whole transcendent kind of love that Sierra and Victor had for each other. So adorable.

Plus, Joss really got a cast of talented actors for Dollhouse and of course I didn't mind seeing all the familiar faces (okay, I'll admit it - I loved that). smile

Have you read the book series Vampire Diaries, Anne?

No, I haven't. Maybe I will, though. It's just that I wasn't really interested in reading Vampire stories before Twilight and Twilight wasn't all about Vampires for me in the first place.

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

I'd like to catch up on Vampire Diaries books. The only reason I haven't is because I'm too embarrassed to purchase them in the bookstore! lol the covers are really cheasy.  How lame is that! I should just get over it like I did twilight.  My favorite vampire book is The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, its about Dracula.  Definately a late night page turner, it reads slower than the Twilight books though.

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

My favorite Vampire book is The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice.  I love that book so much.  Lestat's story is far more interesting to me than Louis in Interview With The Vampire.  There was a time when I would read anything about vampires, but I kinda outgrew it. Then, I went through my Buffy/Angel obsession and got into it again. The trouble is I only have like a half hour at lunch to read books.  So I haven't read all this new trendy stuff.  I did read Lilith's Dream and The Last Vampire, Whitley Strieber's sequels to his classic, The Hunger last year.  Loved them.  But they're a million miles from Twilight.  I guess I find what I've seen of Twilight to be very lightweight and kinda silly in the face of the epic insanity that is the Buffyverse.  But I really haven't been exposed to enough of it yet.  I doubt I will ever find the time to read the books, but the movies intrigue me.

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

I know what you mean - there are too many books out there and not enough time! I've always wanted to read Anne Rice.  I might do that this summer. I have a few non-vampire books I'm reading now! (I've always thought we should start a book thread).  I liked the Historian and World War Z because they are more non-fiction and more "intelligent" zombie and vampire literature.  I like twilight just because it is entertaining and easy to read.

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

Would this be the section to put it in?  Or the Off topic thread....

Just found this on the internet:

"Morgan Spurlock and Joss Whedon are teaming up for a documentary about the San Diego Comic-Con.
Sources for E! Online say the two director-producers are looking for "superfans" and intend to follow them for about three months leading up to the event and while attending the 4-day convention in July.  Spurlock attended in 2009 to interview people for The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special: In 3-D! On Ice!" - from http://www.newsinfilm.com/2010/02/21/wh … c-con-doc/

I'd qualify for a whedon fan but I'm not an intense comic con fan although I've always wanted to go!

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

I was just watching "Ear Shot" on LOGO.  I remembered they cancelled an episode when Columbine happened.  I believe this was suppose to come out the week that it happened and because of its nature they cancelled the episode and didn't play it until later.  Is that right Deb or did they just cancel the show in general that week?  I thought you might know.   Its a great episode though - the one were she gets superpower of reading people's minds from the deamon and hears someone saying that all the students would be dead the next day.

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

Yes, they pulled Ear Shot completely out of the line-up that season because of Columbine.  I think, if I remember correctly, they didn't air it until the following season.  For a while, it was like the "lost episode".  Aren't those kinds of "coincidences" weird?  I remember when Medium was about to air the ep where Joe's office is held hostage by a gunman.  People are killed and Joe is completely traumatized.  The week the ep was supposed to air was the week after the Virginia Tech Massacre.  Patricia Arquette and Jake Weber filmed a spot that aired before the episode expressing their sympathy to the fallen and their families, and warning about the show's content.  Odd that it's almost like something was in the ether before these events happened, that writers pulled out of the collective unconscious.  And let's not forget the episode of The Lone Gunmen where terrorists attempt to fly a plane into the World Trade Center.  That aired in late 1999.

These kinds of things are what make Synchromysticism so fascinating to me.

Really crazy.  Didn't realize about Medium and especially forgot the episode about the Lone Gunmen.  How weird is that?

So I know this isn't Buffy / Angel related but it's Joss Whedon related. Maybe we could change the thread title to Joss Whedon appreciation? smile big_smile

I was a big dollhouse fan and found this on Fran Kranz twitter page today.  Maurissa Tancheron and Jed Whedon wrote a song for the 1st season finale and they did a music video that's now number 17 on itunes download.  Here's the link to the article and video:

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

Anyone else seen Nick Brendon's christmas movie from last year? smile I liked it. It was kinda cheezy and the female lead I wanted to slap for her lame use of her voice and doing this thing with her head that afro-american women do. I always hate it when people use elements from other races or cultures and do it in such obviously fake way it's annoying. Other than that the plot was pretty good. maybe a bit predictable but it's christmas themed romantic comedy so it's forgiven. The kid actors were great. Nick was awesome. I was a bit freaked out how much he looked like my dad did when he was 30-50yo. maybe  it was the haircut and how Nick held his face and body. Ah I miss Xander. gotta have me some Xander. I wish I found Buddy DVD boxes cheap somewhere.. Xander was one of my favorite characters. duh. I named my son after him. lol
