Re: Films that maybe put on fast track due to possible strike next year

For those of us not so well-versed in English and/or the movie jargon, could you explain what "fast tracked" means? Does that mean they'll push the movie to the earliest date possible?

Re: Films that maybe put on fast track due to possible strike next year

So many remakes and TV show adaptations, I wanna be sick.  And Illinois, Land Of The Lost was first a 1970's Sid & Marty Krofft show.  The 90's version was trash.  The original show was a total hoot!  If they use that one as a model (and keep the theme song), I'm in.

What really upsets me is that once again they're trying to remake Escape To Witch Mountain.  When they tried to do that for TV, also in the 90's, I think, I was appalled at what they did to it.  That movie is a seminal part of my childhood.  I'm terrified of what they'll try to do to it now.

Is Nick & Norah a remake of The Thin Man?  Greeeeeat.  Because heaven knows we don't need William Powell & Myrna Loy for a Thin Man movie.  Who will they cast?  Nobody has that kind of class these days.

I see Fox Atomic has a slate of films scheduled.  Wonder if any of them will actually get made.

A movie of Marley & Me?  That might be cool.

They're a few years too late for He's Just Not That Into You.  The book came and went without making much noise.  Who's Greg Behrent cozying up to anyway that he can make all these deals without much commercial success?

A remake of Capricorn One?  The original was not that great.  Excellent concept mired in bad 70's cliches.  Maybe they can do better this time.  And at least we won't have to suffer looking at O.J.

Please tell me Near Dark is not a remake of the classic 80's vampire movie!  There's no way you can top that!  None.  It was damn near perfect.

And please tell me The Changeling is not a remake of the classic George C. Scott ghost story.  Again, how the hell do you top near-perfection?

The Seventh Samurai?  You have GOT to be kidding!  I know the story has been adapted into many genres and that's fine.  But a straight-up remake?  That makes as much sense as this remake of Enter The Dragon without Bruce Lee.

Hollywood SUCKS!

One good thing to look forward to:  A Wolfgang Peterson film of Whitley Strieber's The Grays.  The book is wonderful and very cinematic.  Of course Whit knows a thing or two about having his books adapted, so I think he writes them with deliberate visual scope.

How 'bout that?  I have one whole movie to look forward to out of that loooooong list.  sad

Shows what I know about movies and TV shows. I recognized exactly one movie, and that was Harry Potter. How sad.

Same here. I am so out of the loop when it comes to movies since I can't go to the cinema very often.

FYI "the Changling" isn't a remake of the George C Scott film (I had the same thought when I first heard about it).  Sounds like it is more of a Body Snatchers kind of story.

Which is a brilliant thing to do considering the most recent remake of that story (Invasion) was a box office disaster.  But, thank God, it's not The Changeling we know and love.  What the heck is Clint Eastwood doing making a "body snatchers" type thing anyway?  Sounds a bit out of his realm.

Seems that there maybe strikes in Hollywood next year and that studios are trying to get some films fast tracked to beat the strikes.

Re: Films that maybe put on fast track due to possible strike next year

Yes, that's exactly right.  It was supposed to start after the first of the year, but got bumped to 12/3 to beat the strike.  A lot of articles still say filming in 2008.
