Amber Tamblyn

I think it's a popular opinion around here that we all freaking love Amber, so why doesn't she have her own thread... other than the Stephanie Daley and Joan of Arcadia stuff?

So, yeah... we all love Amber so lets talk about the Amber love!

Re: Amber Tamblyn

To be quite honest, I have only seen her in JoA and CSI:Miami. I like her a lot, but I guess I have yet to watch Stephanie Daley to really fall in love. Though she surely deserves her own thread! And those of her blogs that I've read are just quirky and intelligent and great.

Please put a spoiler warning with anything that concern Stephanie Daley, though. wink

Re: Amber Tamblyn

I'm feelin' it big time right now.  And yes, it's because of SD.  I blogged about it on MySpace.  Read it and you'll know exactly where I'm at:

TeeJay, you've also seen SOTP.  And didn't you give me more than one TV show that she was in on DVD?

I thought about where to put it and here's my argument:  Amber also has poetry we can post about, not just movies and TV shows... so she's off topic.

Re: Amber Tamblyn

True, totally forgot about SOTTP. Loved her in that as well, though her character wasn't so different from Joan. Guess I have yet to see her range. I don't mind keeping the thread here. You should ask Anne, I think she cares most about keeping the message board clean.

Deb, I saw you blogged about SD, but I'm only gonna read it, once I've seen the movie.

Re: Amber Tamblyn

I refuse to call that movie Havoc 2. The real title is Normal Adolecent Behavior, it's just that some idiot had to change the title for whatever reason. roll

Re: Amber Tamblyn

They had a pretty big discussion about that on Amber's Rebel forum. Unfortunately I only understood half of it so I am not able to recall the reason why they changed the title. But I still think it's a shame. Plus Lifetime didn't even show the real movie on TV. Sound familiar? roll

Re: Amber Tamblyn

They just did that to market the movie to the 5 people who saw and actually liked Havoc, which was a total waste of time and talent.  I'm sure the version of NAB that the creative team wanted us to see is infinitely better than what the Cretinous Suits chose to force-feed the unsuspecting public.  Wait, was it... yikes  Fat Bastard?!?!  That would certainly explain things.  wink

Re: Amber Tamblyn

I've seen Normal Adolescent Behavior (both versions of it, actually), and it looks as though what may have been a good story was raped of its positive qualities and edited to appeal to more teenagers, much like what is happening with Fanboys right now. Both versions of the movie were terrible, but there was definitely potential buried somewhere under the crap.

Re: Amber Tamblyn

The Signal is real!

From AICN:

Oh God... The Signal's real!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. THE SIGNAL, a small horror flick I love, came out over the weekend. It's not doing all that well and I wondered why... now I think I know...

The film is about a mysterious signal that goes out over all televisions. This signal drives anybody who sees it crazy... but in odd ways. What's good about the movie is that these people go insane in their own head, but they retain themselves a bit. It's not like they turn into zombies like in Stephen King's CELL or something like that.

Magnolia picked it up when it had a terrific premiere screening at Sundance and then held it for a long time... They released it on something like 200 screens and I don't know how it did in real numbers, but no one's really reporting it, so I don't think it did very well. Now I read this news story at MSNBC.

The story is about a man who watched the movie and decided to stab 2 people and run out. So, that's why we have no numbers. It's all evidence now that The Signal drives its audience mad!

This is one of those crazy "no shit? That wasn't a publicity stunt?" type stories. I can't believe it happened... I don't believe the movie actually turned this dude crazy (I've seen it twice on the big screen and it didn't make me kill anybody... in the theater, at least), but it makes for an interesting read.

Click here to read the whole thing!

If the flick is playing near you, give it a shot. I guarantee a good lot of you reading this that pass it up now will wish you saw it on its original release when it is finally discovered on DVD by the hardcores in the near future. It's a blast... just make sure to observe those around you and keep an eye out for sharp instruments.

The story...

Two stabbed at Fullerton theater

The Orange County Register
updated 4:30 p.m. ET, Mon., Feb. 25, 2008
FULLERTON – Two men were stabbed and injured Sunday night while watching a horror film at the AMC Theater in Fullerton during what appears to be a random attack, police say.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m., officers were sent to the theater at 1000 S. Lemon St. after someone reported finding a bag with what appeared to be illegal substances, said Fullerton police Lt. Tom Basham.

While the officers were at the theater, people started running out of the theater showing "The Signal," including two men with blood on them, Basham said.

Just before people started running out in a panic, two men sitting in separate areas of the theater were randomly stabbed by an unknown man, Basham said.

"He started stabbing at the theater seat and then he stabbed the victim," Basham said. "As he fled, he stabbed another victim sitting near the exit."

Basham said the victims did not know each other or the suspect.

One man suffered a stab wound to the arm, which punctured into his chest and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange. The other man was also stabbed in the arm and taken to St. Jude Medical Center. Both are expected to survive.

The attacker, who is believed to have been kicked out of the theater earlier, escaped.

No arrest has been made, but police are following some leads.

"The Signal," a horror-comedy, is told in three parts from three perspectives, in which a mysterious transmission invades every cell phone, radio and TV, turning people into killers. One character estimates that "one out of every two people" are impulsively murdering the other one, according to reviews of the film.

Basham said the film was paused while police conducted their investigation. When it was resumed, the fist scene was a stabbing, he said.

He stabbed them during/right after the movie? So he had a knife with him already? ..

Joan: "Wow. I always thought you'd hate me if I was a cheerleader."
Adam: "No way. Why?
Joan: "Because we're subdefectives and it'd be like deserting the army or something."
Adam: "Oh, no. I don't care if you're a cheerleader, subdefective, or whatever. I just like hanging out with you because.. you're Jane."
