Finally saw Main Street yesterday.  Can't say I loved it, but I didn't hate it.  It's just kind of bland.  Not much really happens.  And OMG the extras are the most boring things I've ever seen in my life!

Amber's beautiful in it, but she doesn't have a whole lot to do.  Orlando Bloom is totally wasted too.  They even managed to make Colin Firth uninteresting.  And that ain't easy because the man has charm for miles.

Exactly my thoughts. I didn't see the extras, but after the movie I was like ... okay, and what is this supposed to tell me? LOL I liked what my favorite three (Amber, Firth and Bloom) did, but it wouldn't hurt if that movie was missing on their film lists.

AndI agree with Deb about Firth's smile. Haven't seen Valmont yet, but that movie is high on my list! big_smile

Re: Amber Tamblyn

I wish Amber and Orlando could have had more of a plot and many more scenes. They never went anywhere really in this movie.

Oh, I was so hoping for something juicy with them, Mel.  After making a joke in Butterflies about Orlando because Joan mentioned dreaming about him in a Speedo in Jump.  Ya know?

Re: Amber Tamblyn

I know this doesn't have to do with Amber, but just the connection with The Unusuals and Jeremy Renner --.  I watched Jeremy Renner on Jimmy Fallon and he was quite charming.  If you haven't seen Mission Impossible you must!  IT's great fun - a good new years eve movie if you don't have any plans.  Jeremy Renner will make a good second in line to the Mission Impossible movies if Tom Cruise ever considers retiring from them.  He did a great job, and he's already taking over the Bourne roles that is super exciting!

I was sold as soon as I saw Jeremy Renner in the trailer, but I think I'm gonna wait for the Blu-ray. It's only showing in English in that dinky little arthouse theater in Cologne that I don't like, and I don't think I want the cinematical experience badly enough to go there for it. It's also showing with German subtitles, which I always find distracting. I've only heard good things, though, so I'm looking forward to seeing it eventually.

Re: Amber Tamblyn

Not my kind of flick.  In fact, I'm actually kinda bummed that Jeremy's becoming a big hotshot action star.  I've been a fan since It Factor: Los Angeles all the way back in 2003.  I'm gonna miss seeing him in smaller films.  Maybe he'll still do one once in a while after he finishes riding the crest of his new found fame.  I'm happy for him.  He's worked hard and earned this, but I have zero interest in anything he's doing right now.

Re: Amber Tamblyn

Maria, I was scared to watch it too!  But it's not that scary.  It's more of a psychological thriller than a horror movie.  In the end, I loved it.

Re: Amber Tamblyn

I didn't find it scary at all. Like Deb said, it's more of a psychologial thing. I "loved" it as much as I hate horror.

Then my mind works in weird ways. I can't stand horror movies, but I love psychological thrillers.

Re: Amber Tamblyn

finally watched it. wow. it was very well done. Amber did great work smile
It was pretty sweet actually. Only the last 20 minutes got kinda disturbingly creepy.
I was mainly concerned about watching this because Amber often reminds me of my daughter so much. wouldn't want to see her hurt.
with my earlier comment about horror movies and thrillers, I meant that most of the time Horror movies just get me bored or laughing and I can see the plot line from miles away. thrillers really keep me on the edge and are less predictable. I guess that's a good thing but I don't really like to be too well shocked. you know? heh

Re: Amber Tamblyn

That's a very good point.  I'm not a big fan of gore so I don't watch a lot of horror.  But I do love a good psychological thriller.  And they're almost always more original and more disturbing.
