Re: Amber Tamblyn

Yes, it is the book cover.  Update from Amber's Facebook...

BANG DITTO TOUR DATES AND BOOK COVER! Here we go....Share
Today at 4:12am
Hey everyone-

First of all, thanks to all yall who supported THE DRUMS INSIDE YOUR CHEST VOL. 3 this year. We had a sold out show that was probably the best so far. I am getting my wisdom teeth pulled on Monday and will be writing each and every one of you a drugged out thank you card. In my mind.

Onward...

Thanks for your patience on all things Tour Dates. I've received a TON of messages from people wanting to know when this dang thing was happening- "Will you be coming to Florida?!" "Will you sign my little brother's earlobe?!" and, "Why won't Cheetos come out with a sour cream and onion flavor?!"

The answers are yes, yes and I made the last one up. But hopefully yes, if they know what's good for them.

Onto the book...

"Bang Ditto" has been a 4 year process of putting together the most intimate and honest work I've ever written. It's a collection of poetry and prose chronicling my observations of a life spent in the Hollywood business and how that's effected everything within me and everyone around me. From bad breakups to my most earnest and deeply scavenged feelings on family. From an inscription I wrote in my first poetry book given to one of the Coen Brothers, to drunkenly wandering into the Scientology building for.... well, you'll see.

I guess this book was really an experiment for me; a risk worth taking in exposing myself wholeheartedly on a page so as to grow and let others know how I grow. Yo. To try and untangle the knots I've helped tighten. To try and see people for exactly who they are- good or bad. More pragmatism and humility. Less romanticizing. Less taking things so seriously. More whiskey.

More or less, this is a book- and a genuine point of view- I'm very proud to share with you.

Here are two excerpts from two poems in Bang Ditto...

:::::::::::::::::::

From the poem STRANGE:

"Los Angeles
has that Pluto-sized hotel room on Beverly
and the street with your middle name.
This is where you first handed me your music in a Walkman,
flicked off my light-switch eyes
and we camped out in each other's hair.
You fogged the letters of a question
on the back of my neck with your breath.
Your knuckles rustled through
waste bins of my waist's skin
till you found the thing
that had been ticking.
Pumping like a trout's mouth
or the bellybutton of an Olympian..."

From the poem ROLE RESEARCH:

"1.

"Jumpers" he calls them, pushing a picture
under my dried tabloid-puke eyes.

The homicide detective at New York's 19th precinct
sits across from me, the mascara maven.

Role research. He has no eyelids left,
just crumpled Polaroids. Murders, suicides,

robberies, kidnapping: seen one 36-year-old
Caucasian male impaled on a pole after

plummeting the length of New Jersey,
seen 'em all..."

::::::::::::::::::::

And now... Tour dates!!

Shitzies, I almost forgot to write that the movie I did with MIchael Douglas, "Beyond A Reasonable Doubt" will be out September 11th!!!! I'll be doing duel publicity for both.

Also: This is not the finalized list of places I'll be touring- Universities will probably be in December/January and there are a bunch of other shows still being confirmed for Arizona, Alaska, New Mexico, Colorado, Chicago, Boston and Oklahoma. I just wanted to get these out there now. I'll keep updating this page with new shows as they come in. If you have any suggestions of places you'd like to see me read, shoot us a message and we'll see what can be done- my operators are standing by. I'm new to this whole tour thing and open to all ideas and requests. Except for birthday parties. I don't do birthday parties. Or celebrity funerals.

love three times a lady,
Amber T.

Re: Amber Tamblyn

Yeah, I loved Free Stallion too, Mel.  I read it on the plane to and from LA last year.  Last year... Sigh... I'm right there with you, Anne.  Best.  Vacation.  Ever.  With Joe leaving to move to Belgium, the bugger!  I don't think I'll ever have another vacation.  I really can't wait for this book.  It's cool that she's including some prose and raw meditations on working in Hollywood.  I want bigger books from Amber, just like this.  I love the way she thinks and writes.

Best vacation indeed! I can't believe that it's almost a year ago now. I still look at all our pictures and stuff in awe ... *sigh*
I guess there can never be a better vacation.

I hope I'll get a chance to buy Amber's new book, too. I really like her stuff, although I'm not sure if I get it the right way. LOL

I had three wisdom teeth pulled, and I was too out of it to even have considered asking the dentist to give 'em to me for posterity. I loved the feeling after I had that done. I was like in heaven

Re: Amber Tamblyn

Haha i only had mine pulled a few months ago. Same day as my brother actually. My mum thought it was the funniest thing to watch us both just zoned out on the couch in front of the TV with our ice packs and bandages wrapped around our faces. Mine face was SOOO swollen but at least i didnt have any bruising.

The drugs that they give you are great. Don't be scared.

Re: Amber Tamblyn

I only ever had two wisdom teeth to begin with. Thus, Deb, you're twice as wise as I am. tongue I had one of the two removed years ago. The pain wasn't pleasant, but it was well bearable (with pain meds, of course). I wouldn't want to repeat the procedure, however. I had swelling for about a week too. And I'm not letting them remove the other one unless absolutely necessary. It's already come out (the reason why my front teeth are a bit askew), so I'm not really expecting it to cause a lot more trouble at this point. Fingers crossed!

My left ones are in, but I'm still teething on the right side.  Top's almost in, bottom's not even close.  At this rate, I'll be 80 before they're all in.  LOL!
