I know we have a few fans of the book around here, and there's been speculation about the possible movie. It's official. There's gonna be a movie.
Accourding to StephenieMeyer.com:
The film, which begins production February 2008, will be directed by Catherine Hardwicke, with Melissa Rosenberg (STEP UP) having adapted the script. Karen Rosenfelt (DEVIL WEARS PRADA) and Greg Mooradian will produce along with Mark Morgan via his Maverick Films banner.
Kristen Stewart will play Bella, but that's the only person who's been cast so far. This is a quote from Stephenie Meyer's myspace:
She doesn't look exactly how I pictured Bella, but neither does anyone else. (In fact, if someone showed up who DID look EXACTLY like I imagined Bella, I'd be pretty creeped out.) ... The main thing in this case, and in every other actor cast for the movie, is that she can act. I have faith that she can make me believe she's Bella when it counts.
And no one is even speculating on the Cullens right now. I think they're gonna have a tough time casting them.

Chris should be Edward!!

He should be. But he won't.
At the top of a long list why is his age, they don't want anyone over 20 to be Edward. If all the books get picked up, they'd like to keep the actors through out the series and Chris could be in his 30s by that time. He'd look far too old to play a 17 year old and he might just have moved on from Twilight.

Didn't Chris even say once that he didn't want to play kids under a certain age? I just don't think he'd be happy playing a 17 year old, remember Edward's 17 forever and like I said the films can be filmed until he's in his 30s.

hmm idk if hesaid that, but you are right indeed. It would have been nice though

What he said was he wanted to go older and darker. He didn't mention a specific age.

Who wants to see the movie?? Me and two of my friends at school don't really want to because it might be lame. I already know the books are way better!! I still kinda want to see it though....

hmm I will completely honest when I say that my deciding factor will be who they cast for Edward. lol. If Im not too upset about their choice I will go see it. haha

The only way I wouldn't see it is if they cast Zac Efron or someone like him for Edward.
I think (hope) that the people in charge of the movie won't tear the book apart too badly. Stephenie Meyer isn't involved much, but she does get to read through the script and has to sign off on it.
Offline
yeah wow if Zach Efron did it i would absolutely refuse to see it. I agree though.

Hes hot but I would not want to see him in the movie Twilight.

I don't think he's cute at all. He's an over-rated, untalented, Disney produced, pretty boy. One thing Stephenie said is that she wants to be able to believe that the actors are their characters, no way would he be able to pull that off.

Thats true. I still think hes pretty hot though lol.

Here's a link to a movie page for the movie Twilight. I can't wait to see who they cast as Edward.

Apparently, Stephenie Meyer doesn't know anything about anyone else in the cast other than Bella and to her knowledge, no one else has been cast. I don't know why, but I think that's complete bull.
They're starting production in two months, shouldn't they have the second main character by now?
I don't know why, but I have a feeling they do have an Edward and they're keeping him underwraps to prevent the fangirl riots, because he doesn't look enough like a man that isn't even human and therefore is impossible to look like. But Stephenie did say not to expect any actors you'd know to play any major roles, so I guess Zac's out (thank God!)

I agree Laura.

I would like to see Daniel Radcliffe as Edward!
Offline
Honestly, Daniel's the last person I'd want to see as Edward.
I know that no one will ever look exactly like Edward, but Daniel is nothing like what I imagined Edward to be. He's not even what you imagine Harry Potter to be anymore. Also, I never really saw Edward as British or having any type of accent... I think he just never caught onto slang. If he had an accent, it probably would have been stated in the books.

Yeah umm...no Zach Efron and Danilelle Radcliffe are just terrible Edwards. They are are like these teenie bopper hearthrobs. Definitely not Edward. I'd like to see someone who's never really acted much before play him.

That's what Stephenie Meyer wants and expects from the actors, to be people you may not have heard of. So you might get your wish
