Twilight is 1 of my favorite books ever and I can't wait to see it in theatres. I think I'm going to wait a while though. I'm definitely going to be wearing a Twilight shirt when I see it in theatres. I want this shirt at Hot Topic that says Twilight and it has a picture of Bella and Edward on it. : D

Great Michael blog. I totally get his rant. Not that I have first hand experience, but it's just like I imagined it to be for people who are so hyped up in Hollywood. They're really just normal people like you and me. Of course it's exciting when you think about getting to meet them in person, but I have never understood that thing where celebrities get idolized and you start screaming hysterically before you faint when you stand in front of your favorite star. I'm not saying it's ridiculous or anything. I've met a few actors in my time, and I was nervous every time. But I still managed to keep my wits together enough to actually talk to them (and make a certain kind of sense). Maybe it's different when you're 12 years old.
Brenna, if you were at Comic Con, did you see the Fanboys screening? I guess not, otherwise you would have probably posted about it, right?

Here's a fan shot video (really shaky) of the final fight scene that was shown at Comic-Con, but you basically can't hear a word Edward says because of the screaming that erupted every time he blinked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvuqIeWfydY

Awesome scene! Now I really can't wait to see Twilight.

Nope I had no idea where or when it was taking place, as it wasn't printed in the schedule. I had heard rumors that it would screen, but I have no idea how people figure out when it happens. I did have a conversation with a girl in the line for a Robot Chicken signing who told me that she had won some sort of drawing that got her a ticket to the Pineapple Express screening. So maybe that's how they do it?
It was our first year there, so we were figuring out how everything works. There's a ton of stuff to see and you have to accept that you can't do it all. People line up hours before panels and signings, so I'm sure it's the same deal with film screenings.
I did get to see some cool people, though. And in front row, no less. I put some pictures up over at my Flickr account if anyone's interested: http://flickr.com/photos/heyybrother/. I'm for sure going back next year.

Great photos, Brenna.
I'm not exactly sure how the Fanboys screening was announced, but it took place right after a Star Wars event, can't quite remember which one it was. Something about fan videos, I think. It was all kinda short notice, so that's probably why it wasn't in the schedule. We didn't really know specifics as to where and when it would screen early enough to make a big announcement. Bummer that you were there and missed it.

Um, that's not true. We did know when and where it was because Kyle told us. And I posted it here on the MB (on IMDb too, I think). Brenna, I really wish you'd checked the MB or asked us about it. I would have loved for you to get a chance to see it. I probably could've even put you in touch with Kyle to make sure you got in.

Sorry about that. I had a few friends here from out of town in the middle of July and we all took off to California on the 19th to vacation a bit before the Con. I didn't have much time to get on the Internet.

So a couple days ago I had this idea that I thought was totally brilliant, and it led me to make my own Twilight trailer. Turns out, it wasn't quite that brilliant . But if you want to watch it (with what should have been the movie's tagline at the end), here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NGQnw1tZVQ

She didn't want it released, but she wanted it released to certain people because it added a dimension to the story? What the heck is she talking about?

Probably the best way to follow this curious saga is to check out Twilight Lexicon:
http://www.twilightlexiconblog.com/
They've been following it from the start and have the most thorough coverage of the story (it goes back a few weeks, so scroll down until you see the first mention of it). They have a lot of links to stories about it so there's a tremendous amount of information but you should get the basic idea by reading a couple of articles they linked to.
By the way they've also been the most helpful site in getting the word out about Michael (besides you guys). Usually within hours after he puts up a blog post they have the link up (until the last two because they have been so wrapped up with the new book).

I'd rather have Laura's "reader's digest version". I'm sure it's much more entertaining.

My "reader's digest version" of Midnight Sun (which is Twilight, told from Edward's point of view instead of Bella's) and the controversy surrounding it? Alright. Stephenie Meyer is being a child. Plain and simple. Or maybe not so simple because here comes my rant...
She put an unfinished copy of the book into "trusted" hands, and when those hands gave the book to other hands, it eventually got onto the internet. This upset Stephenie (and I understand why), so she posted on her website the book most likely wouldn't be finished because of the betrayal she felt. And she posted the unfinished book that was circulating so curious fans could read it. And be driven crazy that it's only half done and we want more. And she knew that this would happen if she dropped the book into our laps unfinished. So she's basically punishing her fans for something someone else did.
She does show her unfinished manuscripts to people, to get their thoughts on the book and how it's going so far. People she thinks she can trust. She says she knows who leaked this, because each version of the manuscript she handed out is slightly different. She's keeping this person's identity a secret to protect his/her life. And I think that's actually best. People are pissed.

See? Much more entertaining. At her age, this woman ought to know better than act like this. You think she'll eventually finish and release the book?

Always better to have too much information than too little. Especially if someone else may want more than the Reader's Digest version.

Someday, I really hope she does. Right now she wants to focus more on being a mom and wife, which I totally respect and understand. This happening, I think, just gave her an excuse to get a break. And after getting five books published in under five years, she really deserves one.
I read the unfinished book (the one legally posted by SMeyer), and I really liked it. As of now, it's "on hold indefinitely" but I really hope someday it does get completed. She's not contractually obligated to write it and never was, it was just a fun thing she was writing in her free time, so she might just move on and leave Twilight be with the end of Bella's story. I really hope she doesn't though.
Offline
Wasn't there something about how she felt upset that people were judging the quality of the writing because it was only one of the first drafts? I thought I read that the reviews of Midnight Sun were pissing her off as well.
Offline
Yeah, that was a reason she said she was upset, because it wasn't very good and she'd rather people not read it. But, you know, if you wanted people to read a good completed story then um... write it.

Twilight has received a MPAA rating of PG-13 "for some violence and a scene of sensuality."
Offline
It's been PG-13 for a while, the studio didn't have a choice other than to make it PG-13 or below (and below would have been impossible) or Stephenie Meyer would have taken her name off the project. I thought it would be the opposite though... "a scene of violence and some sensuality". Unless it got cut, Bella and Edward have a rather frank discussion about sex when they first start dating.

It had to be re-submitted after reshoots. This was a new rating issuance.

Summit has finally released details about when and where the Twilight premiere will be held, as well as what fans will and will not be allowed to do.
The date is Monday, November 17 and the location is Grauman's Chinese Theater.
They will be following standard procedure, which is that fans will be allowed to gather outside rope lines and see their favorite actors as they arrive.
