Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

The only reason why I picked Daniel Radcliffe is because he's hot. I don't care who plays Edward as long as they're talented and attractive.

I hope they don't make the movie bad. They usually do that for books based on movies, especially Harry Potter.

movies based on books? lol. They usually arent bad it is just that people who read the books usually have high expectations.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I agree, Paige.  Movies have to do something different.  They want to attract fans of the books, but they can't keep it all exactly the same or book fans will lose interest very quickly.  When you watch a movie for the first time you aren't supposed to know exactly what happens next, it'll be boring to watch if you did.

I know Edward needs to be gorgous, but I'd much rather have a good actor who doesn't look like a God than a model-looking guy who can't act his way out of a shoe.

Yeah the acting part is very true. I think he needs to be really attractive just so most fans arent dissapointed. I really wouldnt care if he wasnt that great looking.Either way he wont look how I pictured him

That's basically exactly what Stephenie Meyer said.  No matter how good looking whoever plays Edward is, nobody will ever be exactly what everyone pictured as Edward.  First off, everyone has a different vision of Edward.  Second, Edward isn't human, so it would be impossible for anybody to look like him.

yeah I really like the guy she has on her site for Jake. He would be really good as him. That is the only character in which there is actually someone that looks how i pictured the character. I think his name was Tyler Posey, but im not sure

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Speculation can end now on Edward.   He's been cast and will be played by... ready?   Robert Pattison, who also played Cedric in Harry Potter 4.

Here's Stephenie Meyer's reaction:

I was kind of shocked that I'd never considered Robert before. Aside from my dearest Henry, Robert is truly the first person I've pictured in the role who I think can pull it off. The boy just looks like a vampire.

Also, I hear very encouraging things from the people who watched his auditions. They've been at this for months now, you know, reading Edward hopefuls day after day. Robert knocked their socks off; once he read for the part, the search was over. In other good news, apparently there is excellent chemistry between Robert and Kristen (they have all the major actors read together to make sure they fit), his American accent is flawless, AND he's read all three novels!

The Henry she's referring to is Henry Cavill.  She's once said he's the only actor she could see as Edward.

And if you're having trouble picture Robert as Edward, here's a fanmade image of him and Kristen Stewart (Bella) together.   I think he'll make a fine Edward :P

he def does have a vampire look to him. Yeah Im not dissapointed that he is Edward. He in fact looks somewhat how I pictured him. I just never would have made that connection from Harry Potter

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I was just on twilightlexicon.com, which is the official Twilight fansite.    They have some amazingly talented photoshop artists over there, and they made six faux-movie posters here.

My opinions on them:  The first is what I imagined the movie poster to look like, kind of the book cover with Rob and Kristen's face super-imposed.   The second one, I think the photoshop is amazing and I really like the tag line.   The third one is kinda boring, but I like Edward and Bella in the field and the tag line, all the green is distracting.   The fourth one... nothing special, they didn't even find a picture of Kristen with brown hair or tint it.   The fifth one, I love love love the tag line and the tint of his eyes against the black and white.   The sixth one I like, it looks most like an actual movie poster but I think three faces growing out of Edward's and Bella's heads are a bit much.

None of these will be the movie posters, but I still like the first, fifth and sixth one.    I think the sixth is my favorite.

And, side note from Lexicon's Lomesir who Stephenie agrees with (see her myspace) and so do I:

Every time someone says "I don't want Robert Pattinson to be Edward" because Rob doesn't look like their mental image of Edward, a kitten dies. So please, shut up--for the kittens.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Because I'm totally crazy at this point with Twilight stuff, I found more fan-made posters.

These blew me away: http://hinky.livejournal.com/28899.html , http://community.livejournal.com/thehorcrux/12832.html , http://hinky.livejournal.com/28980.html

Ok, I'm done now with the fake movie posters... until next year wink

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

That last poster said it might be R, which it easily could be.  But judging by the fanbase the book has, they'll probably aim for PG-13.   The book doesn't have much swearing (if any), so the rating would probably all depend on the violence. There's really no way to know for sure until the editing is done and how violent the fight scene is.  There's no way it's going to be below PG-13.
